Festival of Lion King...how to participate

That can be severely affected by all of the FP+ guests who are allowed to be seated before standby guests are admitted.

FP loads into the elephant, warthog & lion sections, the giraffe section is held for standy, the door the main original standby line opens up to is halfway up the giraffe section, and you're guided in to the front of the section. If you arrive and the part of the line going up the ramp is roped off and you're at the doorway at the bottom of the ramp, then you'll end up being directed to a different section not at the front. Get there 40-60 mins early and you'll be fine. Should have clarified

When my daughter was 4 we went to the show and she was picked to dance with the cast. We were sitting in one of the front rows and separate from the rest of our family as the show was very crowded and there as limited seating left.
She was tiny and cute and had on sunglasses and a real cute sundress and was really into the show so I am guessing that is why she was picked.

We were running late for the show last year and were literally the last people to be let in the theater so the CM's let us sit in the bottom row of the lion section. DS (3 at the time) was chosen to do the Lion roar. On our recent trip this year we saw the show twice (DD's request)- the 1st time we had a FP and arrived 15 mins before show starting- we were in the upper part of the lion section. The 2nd time we arrived in standby 25mins prior to the show and we ended up in the same exact spot- upper lion section.

Last summer we arrived late and were in the last people going into the theatre. We were seated on the second row (wheelchair/VIP row) of the elephant section to the right and my daughter was chosen. This month we had FP+ and were seated again in the elephant section but high up and no chance to be picked up.

We tried the FP route once and that didn't work either. Got there 30 minutes early WITH a FP. First in the FP line. First in theater. Still didn't get to sit close enough to get picked because of all of the reserved accessible and VIP seating.

Worst FP ever.

I got picked last March to lead the Lion section- but I was up front with my Mum in a scooter and the kid picked before me chickened out. So a great big 21 year old got picked to roar for the lions!

It was the first time I had ever seen FOTLK and it made it extra special!

You'll be able to sit in the first non wheelchair row if you arrive early enough. DD has been picked many times. Always close to the front and on the left side as you face the seats. One time a wheelchair guest offered her the empty seat next to her since they weren't taken ... Just before the show started.

I agree.
It's not a good use of a FP.

(However, if you are going to see Finding Nemo the Musical, THAT can be a good use of FP at DAK.)

What does the FP for Nemo get you?

With a FP, arrive 40-50 minutes before show-time and enter the FP line.
At some point closer to show-time, they will open the theater only to FP guests, who can enter and choose any seat in the house.
After that, they will open to regular guests who can choose seats that have not been taken by FP guests.
