Feeling like I'll miss out if we don't use an EMH- am I weird?

Since the EMH is a resort bonus I feel kinda...what's the word... gipped (sp?) if I don't use it. We already aren't renting a car to get free parking at the parks. But so many people say it's packed, not worth it, etc to use EMH. We planned to use the evenings at AK, MK, and EP (I think MK and EP now have added morning hours on in May). Am I weird to feel this way... Maybe it's just because Disney resort cost more than an off-site hotel so I feel if I'm paying more I should go to the park extra hours.. I don't know.

And the other thing I wonder....
With EMH it draws more people
But then people go read the Unofficial Guide and other books that say to avoid parks on EMH days...
Then won't more people not go to EMH??

Don't feel like you are missing out. It's not for everyone. Last year we didn't do any EMH and did fine. This year we may do evening EMH but I have no def. plans. Just go at your own pace. It's your vacation, enjoy it! Have a great trip! :flower:

For those folks who are able to climb out of bed in the morning, have something to eat in the room & move to the Parks so they're there BEFORE the Park opens -- those folks are given huge rewards. We arrive early with our children & grandchildren. Within the first hour we will have been on three or four major rides or attractions. When the grand children say: "Again, Again!" we just loop right back on Peter Pan or Pooh & walk right on. You will read a lot of posts on DIS from folks who arrive around Noon & wander about the Parks. Most of those folks have been to WDW over&over. If you're with young people who have a hard time waiting in one-to-two-hour lines for a five minute attraction, there is absolutely, positively no substitute for arriving at the Parks EARLY!!! & later in the day use FastPass!

Don't worry, I felt the same way. Mom & sis were staying off-site, so they volunteered to take the kiddos so my cousin & I could close down the parks with EMH, but when it came down to it, we all left together (regualar hours are enough now I'm a mom!) I don't feel the least bit cheated or that I missed anything. Have fun, and see how you feel at the end of the day.
(Personally, I think the shuttles and the charging room key make the Disney Resorts worth it! After I unload the trunk, I never have to see the car again!)

I feel the same way. I have an upcoming trip and AM staying on PROPERTY ONLY to take advantage of the EMH. I dont want to NOT use it because I feel like I should use it. I'm paying the extra $$ to have access to it.

Either way, I cannot wait!

I don't think it is as important to use the morning EMH (what used to be early entry) as it is to hit a park as soon as it opens.
For a park not having early entry, arriving at opening, seemed to have the same advantage as arriving for early entry.

Our big mistake was to go to an Early Entry park, and arrive over an hour after it had been opened. I really tried to talk people out of this, but my family wanted to stick to the planned park, even if they failed to get up in time to make it to park when planned.

The more I go, the less important it is to take advantage of extra hours.
However, I have Never been when the extra hours were in the evening, with many more attractions open then they had for the morning early entry.
I have my whole next trip schedule planned around taking advantage of extra magic hours (mostly morning, but one evening).
I will get out of bed in time to actually get to the park in time for early entry.
I only have 3 days planned for this trip, my shortest WDW trip ever (not counting a trip I made years ago when WDW consisted only of the MK).

Funny, I'm an UG Guide fan, but I'm sort of feeling the same way. I came up with a compromise: On our second Epcot Day, MK has EMH and we will be staying at the CR. We could easily do MK EMH from 8-10, then get over to Epcot in time for World Showcase to open at 11. I'm going to offer that as an option...I BET that my family will vote to skip EMH, but if it has been supercrowded on our other MK days, they might go for it.

Edited to add: Gosh, just thinking about it makes me so excited! :goodvibes

There is no substitute for EARLY. We were at WDW for almost five weeks from Dec 27 to Jan 30. Just the two of us (adults) popped in to see MK during the week between Christmas & New Year's. We went about 2:00 p.m. Entered through the "tunnel" under the train station, took one look & turned around & left. Help! Who would want to be in that crowd?! Epcot was great for strolling. Since we go for a month every year, we stay away from the attractions when things are really busy so everyone else has a better chance. & who wants to wait in two-hour lines anyway? & FastPass becomes unworkable in the huge crowds because they're "gone-for-the-day" by noon. Now, once the Christmas-New Year's crowd was gone -- & that took until almost Jan 5, by going to the Parks at opening (& at the EMH) we joined our children & grandchildren on at least four-to-six rides/attractions in the first hour. By 11:30 we were ready to go to our PS for the main meal of the day. Each to his own travel plan, but I really think there is such a lousy trade-off for arriving between 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. vs. getting up & moving I don't get it. But if people enjoy standing in long lines & going-with-the-crowd, that's certainly their choice. Enough folks have posted on other threads that they just prefer to "arrive when they want" and "wander around." We enjoy WDW a great deal & feel that when WDW has spent $200 million on an attraction, it might-maybe-just-could-be worth doing! When children & grandchildren are not with us, we also enjoy "The Parks" for their beauty -- especially Epcot.
