Yes, I had almost given up on taking photos on the safari but we lucked out.

May 20th continued

After the safari we decided to do something we had never done before, catch the Wildlife Express out to Conservation Station and Rafiki's Planet Watch! The train station is right next to the safari, unfortunately we had just missed the train as it was pulling away when we arrived. That's okay, we were not in a hurry.

Alek and Erich took the opportunity to review the pictures Erich had taken on his camera while I fiddled around with the settings on my camera.

We did not have to wait long for the train to return

They had some animal exhibits along the pathway including this cute little guy

This lovely lady was out for a stroll. Her caretaker ended up picking her up as the crowd grew.

Once we got inside I saw that Pocahontas was out for pictures. I got in line by myself as the boys were not interested, they went to go listen to one of the CM's who was speaking about owls I think?

I will not post the Pocahontas photo as I look awful in it!

Jiminy Cricket was also out for photos. We all got our picture with him.

Unfortunately for us there was no procedure going on. Although that just means that the animals were healthy so I guess it is a good thing that we didn't get to see a procedure.

We wandered around the building looking at all the creatures. Some were cute, some not so cute and some I would scream if I saw in real life.

This guy had personality! He came on over to the glass when he saw us and struck that pose.

Rafiki came out for pictures so we had to get in line for that.

They all decided to partake in the time honoured tradition of picking through each others hair to groom each other and get rid of bugs.

Behind the Rafiki meeting spot there are a bunch of dark rooms you can go into that have headsets that allow you to listen to the sounds of the rainforest. We went into one for a few minutes, it was very relaxing, nice padded seats, comfortable temperature and no noise except the beautiful sounds of the rainforest. A great place to take a break.

After our nice sit down we made our way back outside where there are a few more exhibits, an outdoor gift shop and Affection Section aka the petting zoo.

Overall I enjoyed Rafiki's Planet Watch. There are several things to do and it was a nice way to mix up our usual Animal Kingdom routine. I don't know if I would visit every trip but it is something I would do again.

The Jiminy Cricket and Rafiki pictures are great! I guess I would be able to endure the snakes (or at least speed-walk past them) to get pictures with those two.

I always think about how nice it would be to live in Florida but then I remember about all the snakes, alligators, love bugs, etc.

I had a friend back in middle school who had a pet snake that she kept in her room. She would always invite people over for sleepovers but nobody would ever go, wonder why! I could never sleep in a room with a snake!

That seems to be the popular opinion. Even our evil stepmother thinks they are funny, even when they are making fun of her. If I crack a joke though I am a demon child.
