February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Happy Sunday all---
MyLove4Disney, we too are going low budget this cruise. Staying in OKW on points, cruising cat 11 on points and "bare bonzing it". My current issue is trying to figure out if we can afford tix to the parks for our 2 days at WDW. Believe it or not, they will cost our family of 6 more than the whole cruise!!! Sad eh? So if anyone has a great discount ticket place, please let me know!!!:flower3: :flower3:

I have to admit, I just got back from my second tanning session! I have been waiting and waiting to go and the snow in Chicago got the best of me....I am a sun worshipper! I feel better already!:cool2: :3dglasses

Ok, being one of the 40 group, I will take on the party planning for the birthday's. Warning, I am NOT as organized as the rest, but I can plan a good party!

So far, I have:
Myself (Linda) (Feb 27th)
DH (Scott) (Jan 23)
CdnStitchFan/Pam --Brother-? (name)
Deedeedubs (41) (Date)
Newbies DH-(Feb 17th)

Mylove4disney--47th (Feb 6th) ?

PRINCESS MEESH: Date?

PRINCESS MEESH DH: Date?

I'm only gonna do the adults if you don't mind... Also, I am Horrible with names!! I am having a hard time keeping names with screen names. Does anyone mind putting their real name down?

I am Linda, DH is Scotty...Hi!!

Also, I know I have missed a bunch, but here's a start! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi Linda, I will help you with the organizing, thou I don't think there is much to really do...

First things first. My brother is Newbies08's DH. :goodvibes

I think Sunday would be the best night for the birthday's celebration, as the next day is a sea day and most people shouldn't have to get up too early. As to where I think Rockin D Bar is the best place (besides, if this cruise is anything like the last one, this is where you will find us most nights anyway!! :lmao: ) :rotfl2:

We are in main seating, I cann't remember which seating you have, so I can probably get there early and find some tables for the group. Maybe we can go in there early and ask them to setup some tables for us, not sure that is an option or not.

Linda I will send you a PM with my DS email address, maybe you can have your DS17 send him a note and they can start sharing a few words before the cruise.

Kath, I will send you an email with some of your Disney education info..... :yay:

We are arriving the Wednesday night before the cruise and staying at the Radisson, for all those who are also staying at the Radisson the Friday night how about a quick little meet/party on Friday night. :grouphug: What place and time would work best for everyone? I would like to suggest 7:30 or 8pm. Place maybe the lobby, I think it would be best to meet some where kids are allowed.

Pam :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

My b-day is 1/26 and we will be ceebrating it on the cruise. As far as the radisson meet goes I'm not sure what time we will be rolling in but we'll keep an eye out.

sidenote: i have just lost 50 pounds, NO FADS the real deal and i will be at the gym everyday, SOOOOO with that said, i KNOW it is vacation, BUT if anyone wants ANY workout tips or nutrition advice, i am not a nutrionist or trainer but would be MORE than happy to give you support and tips!!

:wishfifty Michelle - although this smiley icon says wish on part of it please see it as a medal of achievment instead!!!! How wonderful for you! I want to hang with you so I have a constant barometer of what I'm doing :thumbsup2 . Really, how wonderful!

***************************

I think I've posted 10 times today alone...I'm sorry :sad2: but I just seem to have a great deal to say :) or I'm just really bored :surfweb:
******************************

For anyone who wants to play - we could have a time where we meet and display our funkiest hat or outfit made only with objects found aboard the cruise during our week:clown:  :jester:. I'd be very happy to throw in a small prize for the winner! Any takers...anyone up to the challenge? Doesn't have to be anything very formal. we're here to vacation with our families and meet new people but I do not want to monopolze anyone's time either. Something toward the end of the cruise to say toodles to everyone and have a good final time. Oh, how sad that sounds saying goodbye to everyone before we've even met.:sad1:

I just tested the waters on this topic with DH and he said, "Sure he'd do it. Sounds like fun"...then he added, "Would I have a choice? I'd get wrangled in somehow, I'm sure." But he also said it sounds good and count him in if we do something.

************************************

Anyone renting tux's on baord, How has that worked for you? Easy?

********************************

Final. I'd love to share pix also. I signed up for that bucket site but how do you then add a photo to this thread?

Dee - shutting up now.

i appreciate my medal and last year, trust me, it WAS a wish so for me, i can never lose sight from whence i came....now that i am here i see that that bit of info is soooo true, to realize everyday how far youve come! you are MORE than welcome to go through a buffet with me, etc....i took the challenge in 07 (my own challenge) to change my life around by the time i hit 40, NO MORE yo yo'ing with fad diets (low carb, south beach, etc.) and get to the gym, and work it off! i didnt hit my goal by my bday but i was more than halfway there and feeling FAB! i started with WW and since adapted a fitness diet and that has worked better than anything, i am LIVING proof what can be done with some dedication and you DO have to focus, just like ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE because we all have SOOO many factors that can throw us all off kilter!

i too am shutting up now! thank you again for the kudos, makes me feel proud!

Thanks Pam for the help. I think we should look forward to a great time. I bet the DJ's/bar tenders etc will jump right in on our celebration!!

Michelle, CONGRATS! I know how hard it is to do, so "You Go Girl":cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I, too have spent WAY too much time online today, I just can't help myself, I'm soooo excited!!!

Have a great night everyone:hug:

About park tickets...for those of you who do live in FL or CA, if my aunt purchases 4 tickets for us as gifts and she is a FL resident...do we have to show ID's when we go into the park. My dad has given us park tickets as gifts in the past and he purchased them using his military background for his discount and we did not need any ID's for the parks.

Just wondering - thanks.

Hello everyone! I have been working on my FE gifts and magnets most of the day, and while I am still not finished, I have been getting more and more excited about our little trip all the while!

I'm a few years away from 40 and my birthday's not 'til May, but can I crash the birthday party? :flower3:

I'm also up for meeting up at the Radisson on Friday, we should be there sometime mid day if all goes well. Plus I'll have to find something for DS and I to do anyway while my dad is getting ready for bed since we're economizing by having all of us share one room during our "commute". I think everyone is tightening the belt lately, little by little. I know this will be our only real vacation this year after having at least two per year for the past few years. We are still very blessed to have our jobs, but you never know what this economy holds so we'll be trying to save much more this year.

On a happier note, congrats Michelle :woohoo: ! My only resolution this year was to lose weight - I'm just getting started, but hopefully I'll be able to join you in the "lost 50 lbs boat" eventually. Exercise is my biggest problem - or should I say the motivation to exercise is my problem. I know I feel better when I do it and it will really propel my towards my weight goal, but I just can't seem to pry my head off the pillow in the morning to do it. The thought of looking over the ocean while exercising is appealing though, so I am planning on spending at least a little time in the fitness center on board.

Well, I better get back to the magnets and FE gifts, and then there's that pesky laundry to finish :laundy: (I've been wanting to use that smilie for a while ;) ). Good night everyone!

Sabrina

it depends dee, if she gets the exchange tickets from triple A then yes, in order to turn them in at guest services for the actual tickets, then you will for SURE have to show ID, it happened to us when i bought some for friends and had NO idea that each ticket that was adult had to have an accompanying FL ID!

What is triple A? Is that a company? I've seen that you can buy park tix online as a resident. Is that triple A?

How upsetting for you and that purchase. Were you able to return them or get to use them at a later date?

AAA is the auto club of america they offer discounts on TONS of park tickets, hotels, restaurants, etc....anyway, i bought through them for my dad and when we got to the guest services window they tell me i needed a FL ID for him and i just about cried, they let me go through that time but i never did it again!! they DO check IDS if you have to get the tickets through the GS window.....

Please let me know who's celebrating...you don't have to be turning 40 ya know! All birthdays are encouraged!!

:bday: :jester:[/QUOTE]

Duh on my part  . Of course I know what AAA is but for some reason it didn't click when I read what you wrote.

Oh no, my DH just asked me if I'm addicted to the board now. We all know the answer is a resounding , "YES!!!!" but now is the wrong word. I've been addicted since day 1 ;)

Actually, DH & I just booked our 1st cruise last night for 2/21/09 to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.:cool1:

Hello!
I love Disney myself! We have been going every year since 1992, but Disney Cruise Line rocks! We are going Febuary 7, on the Western. This is our 8th Disney cruise. Blows away all the rest! You are going to LOVE it! Of course, all this Disney, we are Disney Vacation Club members. There is no place I would rather be than anywhere Disney. We are going to WDW the day before the cruise. I just can't resist.

And I thought we were the only ones who get the same cabin every year!! I do it so I can find my way back to my room after having to much fun!! We are also on the Feb. 7 Western. I don't know my cabin number this time. See, my husbands niece was supposed to be getting married on the Western, but in June....so we booked for June. Her fiance is getting deployed any day now, so they cancelled and got married last month. We cancelled our June cruise and booked for Febuary, but "cabin" was gone. We are usually in 6537. We have never done the back to back cruises though! To cool. Your not the couple whos husband had Mickey Mouse shaved into the back of his head, are you?? I am on here in hopes of meeting others who are going. Our teenagers are not going with us this time. It will be kind of lonely without them! My name is Rhonda Frost. We always go at this time of year. Maybe because we are from Michigan, and it is FREEZING here!! I believe we have around 12 or 13 inches of snow at the moment. I need the break from winter! I want to go work on the ship and never come home! Have you seen the updates to the quiet cove?? Travel Chanel had Disney Cruise Line on New Years Eve. Well, it was at 1:30 in the morning, so I guess that would be New Years Day. Looks pretty cool! We have been getting ready! This year, we bought our own prof. snorkeling equipment, so I can go snorkeling anywhere I want. Does your group snorkel?? If so, we found this incredible snorkeling excursion on our own the last few times. Don't have the card for the woman in Cozumel on me at this moment, but we went on a very long snorkeling expedition. Not the kiddy stay around the boat either. A dive master led, with one behind us, and the boat followed us! It was great! Kind of like Finding Nemo when Nemo went out into the great blue yonder!! If your interested, I will forward the name and number. I usually like the Catermeran Fury, it's so much fun. But the one I found on my own was better for the snorkeling. I still don't quite know what we are doing this year. We have done so much already!

Is everyone on this thread going on the Febuary 7th cruise, or am I doing something wrong?? It is possible. I am not the most high tech!! I would love to hear from anyone going on the 2-7-2009 Western!! The teenagers are not going this year, so it would be great to know someone other than my husband!! We are going on cruise 8 or 9 on Disney, I need to look at my book!! Can't wait to hear from you all!!

I'm considering this trip my early birthday present to me for the big 3-0 (rates are better now than in April, lol), but it's not during the cruise, so I'm not "officially" in the birthday crowd... I would love to head up to the party, but it's all going to depend on the state of the DS's at that point (and the DH for that matter!!!).

Although I am going to GREATLY enjoy being out of touch with reality for the whole week, I do have a question about our connection to the "outside world" :) Does anyone who has cruised before have Alltel? Do you know if we get a signal when we're in port? If not, I'm perfectly fine with that, but if we do, I do plan to make a couple of "guess where I am!" phone calls :rotfl:

Found one DS a pirate costume today. If any of you have a KayBee Toys by you, they've got their halloween stuff on sale 70% off and then an additional 30% off of that. They had ONE girls costume that I am going to take the skirt off of and substitute pants. It has a red vest and red hat and that's DS4's favorite color so he was happy with the find :) They also had (in that section) other pirate accessories like a sword/gun set and hooks (marked down to 30 cents!!!!!) as well as face paint and wigs. ALL of their seasonal stuff was on sale under the 70% off, so if you need any floatie-type stuff for little ones, now's the time to buy! Gotta love sales!

Now, off to try to find the same kind of luck in a car rental and post-cruise activities :wizard:

Jen :)

yes Rhonda, this is indeed the 2/7/09 western thread we are all heading where you are heading, WELCOME! the countdown has begun.....:dance3:

if its okay with all of the bday celebrators of which i am one as is DH.....i think EVERY adult should be invited, i am sure this is what was meant, but in case there was confusion, you dont NEED to be celebrating a bday to come party and celebrate!!! COME ONE COME ALL!:grouphug:

frostrhonda: Welcome!!

ABSOLUTELY! All adults are invited to come to the birthday celebration...I mean, after all....we all DO have a birthday sometime in 2009 right? No exclusions, just come and enjoy!
