February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

JRandAJsMom: We need to rent a car or a limo too. Thanks for the code. We have to go from WDW to the port. I'll have to see if I can get a pick up location for the WDW resorts for Budget.:confused3

Otherwise, I was thinking Happy Limo, but haven't started that search yet.

Thanks:car:

Its at the doubletree by DTD.

Thanks Dee for the meet n greet info. We'll be there   :yay: :yay:

CdnStitchFan/Pam: Tues nite or Sunday would work best for us re: 40th party, as we have Lach in daycare those nights. MickChick and PrincessMeesh and anyone else celebrating 40s- it would be great if we could all get together. My DH's birthday is Feb 17th, and unfortunately we wont be at WDW that day either (we are going the week before the cruise).
BTW Pam, We are really in dire need of a Disney education - I thought that you must be a fan of Cross stitch by your login name :rotfl: (DH didnt know who he was either  ).

Can anyone tell me how you check the cabin availability? I've tried all the tabs I can think of, but is there a different website to ck this? It would be good to know esp when booking in the future. I dont think we are likely to get an upgrade as we are Cat 6, and it sounds like there are no Cat 5's available?

How many adults dress up for Pirate night? pirate: Im not sure where I could find a costume now that halloween is over?? Fortunately I picked one up for DS4 at the post-halloween sales.

See you all very soon :woohoo: ,

Boy, I feel late to the party here. Just found out about theese boards the other day. Myself and DW will be on our second cruise (first on DCL), DD18 will be on her first. We have been DVC members since 02 and have used it quite a bit. I know that the FE deadline has passed but we'll have one out, cabin 5626.

Go to www.disneycruiseline.com and go to my disney cruise then my reservation. You will need your ressie # and birth date to log in. If you look at the details of the ressie you will see the stateroom, the cat, and dining seating. If there was an upgrade the room number will be different but the cat will still be the original one you booked. Let me know if you don't get this to work...

The good-We decided to add one more person to our ressie, my other DBIL. He recently lost his job and we figured what better than to lift his spirits than a Disney Cruise! :thumbsup2

The bad and ugly- The upgrade we got was to a CAT 9, with a large porthole window, that only slept 3. In order to add him to the ressie we had to give up the CAT 9 and go back to the CAT 10 as a guarantee since there are now 4 of us. So we also lost the nice midship room close to the elevators.

More pixie dust-
I asked the DCL CM if we could request midship and she told me no. But she added “you never know when pixrie dust will come your way again.” She talked to her supervisor and tried to get a new stateroom assigned today, but apparently the people that do this don’t work on the weekends. She told me that I would see a room assignment sometime in the next 2 weeks but as early as the beginning of this week…:wizard:

Maybe some lucky Valentine Voyager will get some pixie dust and get bumped up in our place!

Oh my Princess, but you know what the window is the only difference really, and any room on the ship will be great and it is really nice what your are doing for the DBIL. I'm sure this will lift his spirits, maybe he will even make a few employment connections. Always got to keep the doors open, well not the ones on deck 1...

See you all out by the Quite Cove Pool or sipping a moca in the morning at the coffee shop, that is if I don't stay out to late in the evening. Just don't be blinded by all my white skin, if I don't get to the tanning salon daily for the next 3 weeks. I may be a Califonian, but I'm not a true sun worshiper.

Morning all!

I was flipping through my closet last night and ran across a dress I'd forgotten I'd bought. I "think" it's going to be my formal night dress. It's a short black dress with lots of frills down the front. Not my favorite but I think it'll work well enough. I don't really have anything formal-formal. I hope I won't stick out like a sore thumb too Dee!

My oldest, Braxton, has read the menus in the Passporter about 57 times now. He already knows what he's going to order every night. :) What can I say? The boy loves to eat. And with metabolism like his I would too! Little devil....

I'm stuck with FE gifts. Brain stuck. I don't know exactly what I want to do. I have a few things but not nearly enough to go around. And the different ages is throwing me for a loop. I've got to get my act together soon or otherwise you'll all get a piece of fruit in your FE. LOL Probably not what you were hoping for huh?

Have a great Sunday!

27 days, boys and girls!!!

mylove4disney, i am a floridian by way of NYC and i have avoided the sun like the plague from my wedding day til now (12 years) to not get wrinkles amongst other lovely attributes the sun can give us so if you think YOU are white? i am just about a walking xray so you are not alone!! i MAY just do a spray tan so i dont blind everyone as well!! hehe

as far as the FE gifts are concerned? i am most likely going to the do the same for everyone instead of breaking up by age (except for the toddlers) if that is okay??

GPLarge - How fun that we have another CT family traveling from our thread!!! We, too, are the Williams family!!! When my kids are well behaved I'll be sure to tell everyone they are with the Prospect Williams family and when they are being evil I'll be sure to throw around the name Williams from Manchester:lmao: Oh boy, your family is going to grow by two little kids often:rotfl2: .

How did you guys fair this last snow fall? It fizzled a bit compared to what I saw our weather guys 1st forecasting.

Congrats on the birthday and graduation!

We were originally leaving Friday. Taking the kids out of school by 1pm so they get a full day count and then drive down but we got too nervous about all the what ifs that could happen on our drive down so we are now leaving Thursday. We were also planning on staying with my parents in Daytona but due to some health issues they may not be in FLA so we may be staying in a local hotel with the rest of you!!! Woo Whoo. Possible Friday night Party!

How much does it cost to keep your car at the port for the week? Anyone know?

pirate: Pirate costumespirate:
- use the internet. it will be your best friend to easily find pirate costumes. Last year I found our costumes from 2 or 3 sites (and on sale). I got Elizabeth's fancy gown for myself and my DH and DS each got a very decent pirate costume. DS was actually Captain Jack Sparrow. My DD was going to wear her Cinderella costume she had but changed her mind last minute (as do 8 year old girls from second to second) and she threw together a pretty cool outfit the night of the party! We got an awesome family portrait taken that night...so funny.

The shop on board also has many pirate items you can purchase for the night to help you pull together a pirate costume.

Many, Many adults get dressed up for the night. Be sure to nap because they play the movie on deck late at night. Bring blankets and jammies. It was very nice but we got too tired to stay.

***************************************

To everyone saying thank you...you are quite welcome!:flower3: I didn't do anything but I'll take a pat on the back when it comes everytime! I'm thinking of a couple of things for the meet for us adults (again, for those who do not run screaming) and the kids. Someone mentioned doing something for the kids at the terminal. I put my brain to work on that as well.

Toodles,

Dee-- I, too, am wondering about parking for the week. I know it's $15 a day, but do they have a weekly rate? Trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to rent for a week and park with all the weekly rental deals they have going right now. So far, to rent twice, it's looking like close to $200 if I go with the convenience of Budget Rental. A little less if I go with Dollar. What is everyone else doing? :confused3

I just transferred all my Disney Visa reward dollars and ordered my card so I'll have a little fun money for the cruise :thumbsup2 The boys and I have been saving ALL of our change AND $1 bills for the last several months too for room service tips, smoothies (for the boys) and fruity fun drinks (for Mom!). DH is on his own for wine because he's been keeping his change for himself, haha :rotfl:

Just think-- At this time one month from now we are going to be in Cozumel and getting geared up for the Pirate Party!!!! pirate: ARGH!!!!

Dee, we are leaving on Wed after I get out of work. We have some regular stops we like to make on the way down. As far as parking goes, the hotel we are staying at is giving us parking for free and shuttle service to and from the port included in our one night stay with them.

I am still being lazy today and haven't cleared the driveway yet. Wasn't as much as they thought it would be. The only white stuff I wan't to see that looks close to snow is the sand on the beaches in 26 days.

No reservations available at Palo right now? Hope it's not all booked.

Hi everyone, I am GPLarge's DW.

We are staying at the Radisson the night before. If you stay one night, they let you park free there for the week. So that is what we are doing. They provide a free shuttle to the cruise (and back when you return).

I think it is $15 per day at the port.

I have seen a number of post regarding all the birthdays being celerated of the Fab 40ishes and many their 40th.
So who would like to be the first to volunter to coordinate an adult meeting on one of the night mentioned above in Kath's post.....

Ummm Kath.... Ummm CdnStitchFan/Pam..... Anyone Pleeeeeassssse! :flower3: anyone!

I'm sure it will be a hoot, in Rock N Bar D or a piecefull event in Session. I'm think'n this group is probably more up for the RBD, lot of laughs, but I'll leave the coordinating up to the Coordinator.

Come on now who's going to jump in....

sorry I'm such a list person, but I didn't keep with who is having a Birthday in the group. me bad....

I have never been to Key West and well I'm not the excursion kind of gal. I just like to see the local fair. We do want to go to the southern most tip but after that, not sure.

We are going this cruise um shall I say on the lower budget than normal. I'm trying to spend as little as possible. Going on points for the cruise, going on points for our hotel room, going on miles with two different airlines, bought our AP's in June. so zero for tickets. Got a good price on Rental Car each way. We are staying in a one bed room at SSR, so will be cooking some meals in the room, did that last time and believe it or not it was fun, So there lies the expense before the cruise, rental car and food. On the cruise it will be the gifts we buy for friends and ourselves of course, pictures, adults beverages not many, and the small excursions.

So I am looking for suggestions from our group, one thing I know there is no way I am walking the entire distance. I'm what others have been referring to as Winnie the "Pooh" size, so miles and miles of walking is not for me. I know you can rent EV(Gem Cars, Golf Carts) but parking is more valuable than anything there, found that our from Shirley from Perfect Gift, so that is probably out.

I know I'm making it hard, so what do you suggest??

OK, yes I'm bored today so I'm a little chatty.

Here is a photo of Minnie, DD and I on Pirates Night Last year.

you guys went all out! i am afraid i wont have enough room in the luggage!

i packed the majority of FE gifts last night and that took up 2 whole carry ons and i havent even packed my case of H20 yet! UGH!

cant wait for the FAB 40's get together, it was a rough age to realize i am, but as they say, age aint nuttin but a number so i toast all of us staring 40 in the eyes!:grouphug:

Happy Sunday all---
MyLove4Disney, we too are going low budget this cruise. Staying in OKW on points, cruising cat 11 on points and "bare bonzing it". My current issue is trying to figure out if we can afford tix to the parks for our 2 days at WDW. Believe it or not, they will cost our family of 6 more than the whole cruise!!! Sad eh? So if anyone has a great discount ticket place, please let me know!!!:flower3: :flower3:

I have to admit, I just got back from my second tanning session! I have been waiting and waiting to go and the snow in Chicago got the best of me....I am a sun worshipper! I feel better already!:cool2: :3dglasses

Ok, being one of the 40 group, I will take on the party planning for the birthday's. Warning, I am NOT as organized as the rest, but I can plan a good party!

So far, I have:
Myself (Linda) (Feb 27th)
DH (Scott) (Jan 23)
CdnStitchFan/Pam --Brother-? (name)
Deedeedubs (41) (Date)
Newbies DH-(Feb 17th)

Mylove4disney--47th (Feb 6th) ?

PRINCESS MEESH: Date?

PRINCESS MEESH DH: Date?

I'm only gonna do the adults if you don't mind... Also, I am Horrible with names!! I am having a hard time keeping names with screen names. Does anyone mind putting their real name down?

I am Linda, DH is Scotty...Hi!!

Also, I know I have missed a bunch, but here's a start! :grouphug: :grouphug:

My DH is only 38 at time of sailing...I wonder if I should leave him in the cabin watching the kids or let him come play. :rolleyes1

Also, I know I have missed a bunch, but here's a start! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thanks Linda for taking on the planning for this. I do have two younger kids and we have late seating so I will try to be where ever and when ever you decide, sleepy heads and stomachs allowing. I fixed my age, boy that extra year hurt!! Added my name and date above in the quote.

As for park tix. Unless you know someone who is a Florida resident and can get them for dirt cheap the only other ways to get tix for about 10 percent off is as military and you can also save some $ buying ahead online.

Ok Everybody:
We have late seating for dinner too, so I think this may be a late night..."Oh how we think we can still party at our age"party:

Let's go with Sunday evening at "Rockin bar D" at 10:00 PM (that gives us 2 hrs for dinner as noted in the Passporter Guide)

This way, we can roll out of bed and head to the pool the next day and we are at sea!

Childcare...

Oceaneers:
I couldn't find out what time the Oceaneer club closes....all they said was if the kids were still there at 10:00 Pm, the bring out mats!!

Teens:
From last cruise experience, the teens were out later than DH and I were! They are kept very busy until the wee hours of the morning. We have photos from St. Thomas, where all the 2 older boys did was sleep. (pretty funny)

Toddlers:
Rules vary based on potty training

Please let me know who's celebrating...you don't have to be turning 40 ya know! All birthdays are encouraged!!

:bday: :jester:

awesome!!

depending on my young'ns of course, as DD6 is a party pooper and LOVES to crash early but we will see DCL brings out a different side in everyone!

princessmeesh (michelle) sept. 20th (i know its late but i am in radio and there are certain times of the year ONLY when we can take vacation time so we chose this cruise to celebrate!)
DH (dave) dec. 1

party:

sidenote: i have just lost 50 pounds, NO FADS the real deal and i will be at the gym everyday, SOOOOO with that said, i KNOW it is vacation, BUT if anyone wants ANY workout tips or nutrition advice, i am not a nutrionist or trainer but would be MORE than happy to give you support and tips!!
