February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Well while I was checking to see if our room changed it did... but it was downgraded! So I called DVC and apparently there was some mixup. DVC had us in 7092 a cat 5 and disney cruise had us in 6600 a cat 6. So after spending an hour on the phone there were no cat 5 available so we tried to get a better cat 6 (no adjoining room) So now we're in a different room. I'm not too happy about it because it was their mixup and I had to spend all my time trying to get it corrected! Oh well I guess at least we'll still be in paradise :goodvibes

Can we get it changed on the FE list that we're in 6652 now? Thanks!

Did the change SAVE you money? If so then think of it as a neccessary way to start "The baby fund" and have more fun $$ onboard:love:

Here is a photo for you.

Its a place you normally dont get to go.....

And here is something you wont get to see much of..... they will be constantly occupied.

WARNING: Yes, I will remove towels or other items if I want to sit down and nobody is around.

We are about to get your storm any minute now here in CT. We still have snow and ice from every preceeding storm so far this year.

Still, I can't complain...our DISmeet buddies to the north have had temps below zero and our fellow Washington State people have had huge snow storms, collapsing buildings and now floods.

I'm happy right here in CT with our tiny snow and ice storms (comparatively speaking) but...I'll be happier dealing with the weather on our cruise

Us poor Valentine Voyagers. Having to deal with sun, sun, sun and even more sun. Having to deal with 80 degree temps. Oh my, how are we going to survive such harsh weather conditions  Don't know about any of you but I think I'm very willing to try to get along and DEAL with the cruise weather, I'm such a good sport that way.:thumbsup2

Nice pics Billinaz. How did your DD (I'm assuming) get on the bridge for such a cool experience? How wonderful for you!!

Sue (aka, MyLove4Disney), nice job on the FE rule list. It was a mighty fine job me matey, arrrgh! pirate:

Thanks to all who are putting together the lists and meet stuff. I know I said that somewhere in my posts, but I want to say it again. I really appreciate your time and work in order for all of us to have a little extra fun!!!

Haha-- I'm one of those sick people who enjoys snow  I certainly couldn't do Buffalo or anyplace else that gets 3-4 feet of snow at the drop of a hat, but I like to be snowed in every once in awhile... Good excuse to curl up with a nice glass of wine, some quilts and a movie  BUT I'm not so sick in the head that I don't like warm weather-- I AM happier with a fruity drink with a cheesy name lounging by the pool :) I just figure if it's going to be this cold here, we might as well have something better to look at than slushy rain :confused3 Right now, we are sitting just south of the line of storms, so it is literally raining slush instead of the 6-9 inches of snow that we were SUPPOSED to get... Oh well-- everyone else is happy that we didn't get it, haha :)

Got all excited today-- I don't know when cruise docs are supposed to come, so when a DCL envelope came in the mail, I got that little rush, haha :goodvibes No go though. When are those supposed to come? I've never done this before, so I don't even know when to start looking.

i promise, not a WORD from us that live down here in sunny south florida....shhhhh

well, i AM from NY/NJ and DH is from Chicago so at least we KNOW what the winters are like!! HANG IN THERE KIDS sun and fun await!

4 weeks from today! :cool1: :sunny:

Thought I'd pass this on for anyone who is looking to rent a car before or after the cruise-- It's for Budget and it's the Southwest code for 40% off rental :)

U110900

So far, it seems like the most economic and convenient (there are others that are less, I'm sure, but not with drop off locations at the port).

Anyone ever do the limo option? I was thinking about it as a surprise for the boys, but I think I'd rather have the freedom of a car at my use and save the extra $ to try to upgrade :)

Ahhhh Chicago weather....
It has been snowing here for about 24 hours now and we have about 12 inches of snow on the ground and still falling!

I am daydreaming of the hot sun beating down on my face, while I sit (stress free) on the deck with the large screen movie playing....let's see....High School Musical 2! (kids all like that, which means their not bothering me:) )

Oh and I have a drink of sorts and a book...:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Can someone tell me where I check my online ressies? Is it just DCL.com? If it is, we're still in the same cabins. If there's another website I can check, can somebody send it to me?

4 weeks!!! They will go by SOOOOOO fast!

JRandAJsMom: We need to rent a car or a limo too. Thanks for the code. We have to go from WDW to the port. I'll have to see if I can get a pick up location for the WDW resorts for Budget.:confused3

Otherwise, I was thinking Happy Limo, but haven't started that search yet.

Thanks:car:

UGH!!! I just went back and tried the code stuff again and it doesn't work. I think I either did it wrong or just got lucky the first time (not so lucky since I didn't grab it when I entered it then!!!!). When I looked on another site, the code I got was for 25% off a WEEKLY rental. I'm sooooo sorry.

Hi ladies and any gentlemen who could give me some advice. I'm always looking to save $ (who isn't, right?) and for formal night on the cruise hoping to recycle an outfit I once wore for a New Years' celebration . Here's my question: My floor length dress is black velvet with a short jacket with faux fir on the collar and cuffs. Is it too winter weather type material for the cruise or will it work? I've never been to a formal evening on a cruise as an adult so I don't know what the women wear typically.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Still snowing here in CT.

:confused3 Dee, I have been on three of the DCL in the First week of Feb. Well 2 of the three I would say no, but last year it was very warm. My DD and I both wore the thin straped long dresses and were very comfortable even outside in the wind. The year before I wore a long velvet black skirt and a long sleeved black jacket top and felt just right, it was cool outside. The dinning rooms have always been rather cool, they keep the air chilly. I have always carried a sweater with me to dinner just incase.

Do you have to wear the jacket part of the dress, maybe you could forego it or if you are not comfortable just get a different small jacket for your shoulders/arms or even a pretty shawl. That way you don't have to buy a full new gown.

This year I was going to make new gowns, in tropical ocean colors, I have even purchase all the fabric, but I just didn't have the time. So we have decided to where short dresses that we found pretty inexpensively before xmas.

Don't sweat the clothing be sure to wear what you feel most comfortable in. If it is a formal ball gown to classic dress slack and a lovely blouse. There is always so much discussing over what can be worn to dinner. Just make sure you will be happy.

We are at 28 days for the cruise. DD and I are arriving on the 2nd so we only 23 days. Her opera is opening next weekend so she has been busy eveyday from 10 to 10 rehearsing, I know she is going to need a break. They are having 8 preformances the two weekend just before we leave.

Went shopping for the last of my FE gifts, there are a lot of cool things out there for creating gift, but I don't know how I would get everything there. I was thinking about call SSR to see if I could ship a package to myself while we are there the week before anyone ever do that before to one of the resorts???

Thanks for the input Susan. I really appreciate it. I once went to a company business party dressed up for a party and everyone else came dressed as if tehy were still going to work. I felt so out of place and so I never want to feel liek that again. Sounds like I may be OK with what I have. I may be able to even get a lovely scarf/shawl to wear inplace of the belero type jacket.

Again - Thanks Pal

Boy, I feel late to the party here. Just found out about theese boards the other day. Myself and DW will be on our second cruise (first on DCL), DD18 will be on her first. We have been DVC members since 02 and have used it quite a bit. I know that the FE deadline has passed but we'll have one out, cabin 5626.

Welcome aboard there matey!

Arrrgh everyone!pirate:

(WARNING - Exclaimation point alert!)

Thanks so much Sue for the "final" FE directions. Love it :goodvibes ! And don't worry about having to change our room numbers - we are probably the only cruisers who are not hoping for an upgrade! I picked my room to be close to DMom and DDad's HC room, and specifically said "NO UPGRADES!" when I booked them. So I am officially transferring any upgrade fairy dust I have behind my ears to my fellow Valentine Voyagers  !

And thanks to Sue and Dee for their hard work keeping up with us all!

DS and I will definitely be at the meet - not sure about DMom and DDad, it depends on whether or not my brother has burned down the house yet;) . (BTW - If you hear the captain announce a shore to ship call during the cruise, I'm willing to take bets that it'll be for my parents - he'll probably call just to see if it really does cost that much money per mintue:scared1: !) I am all for icebreakers at the meet too - for the small kiddies and for us big kids too. I think some sort of "getting to know everyone" game would be a lot of fun. I'm also loving the group picture idea!

I hit a small snag in the planning/packing phase the other night. I had ordered a dress that was absolutely beautiful and I tried it on just to be sure, you know. It fit really well, except, well, let's just say, I doubt anyone would want to see everything that dress ended up showing off  ! So it's back to dress pants and my sparkly top for formal night - I apologize in advance for anyone who ends up with blue glitter on them:rolleyes: ! But you can't even feel it when it gets in your eyes - trust me!

Other than that minor mishap, our planning/packing/organizing is actually going pretty well. My dad is even typing up a packing list for him and my mom - which, if you knew my dad, would give you a heart attack. I was shocked into silence for a full minute over that one :faint: ! I guess he must be excited - yeah, that's it - I'm going with that over the more logical alien abduction theory:upsidedow !

Anywho... I really feel for you guys who are lacking sleep. I was literally a zombie between the time my son was born and the time he was fully potty trained at night. People who met me then are amazed at the new, improved, well rested (usually) Sabrina! It's like I'm a whole different person. Here's some magic sleep fairy dust for you guys pixiedust: - Good Luck!

We are now off to watch Enchanted (again - yay :cheer2: ) so I bid you all good night, sweet dreams, and restful sleep ;) !

Sabrina

Go to www.disneycruiseline.com and go to my disney cruise then my reservation. You will need your ressie # and birth date to log in. If you look at the details of the ressie you will see the stateroom, the cat, and dining seating. If there was an upgrade the room number will be different but the cat will still be the original one you booked. Let me know if you don't get this to work...

The good-We decided to add one more person to our ressie, my other DBIL. He recently lost his job and we figured what better than to lift his spirits than a Disney Cruise! :thumbsup2

The bad and ugly- The upgrade we got was to a CAT 9, with a large porthole window, that only slept 3. In order to add him to the ressie we had to give up the CAT 9 and go back to the CAT 10 as a guarantee since there are now 4 of us. So we also lost the nice midship room close to the elevators.

More pixie dust-
I asked the DCL CM if we could request midship and she told me no. But she added “you never know when pixie dust will come your way again.” She talked to her supervisor and tried to get a new stateroom assigned today, but apparently the people that do this don’t work on the weekends. She told me that I would see a room assignment sometime in the next 2 weeks but as early as the beginning of this week…:wizard:

Maybe some lucky Valentine Voyager will get some pixie dust and get bumped up in our place!
