February 27, 2011 - 4 Night on the Disney Dream!

Since the Oscars are the night that we sail away...do you think that there will be some kind of airing on board? I have seen in some of the Navigators that they should sporting events and such...so I'm hoping!

You should be able to watch the Oscars on your in-cabin television. Can't vouch for how great the signal will be!
We try to avoid turning the TV on when we're on vacation, no matter where we are. One time many years ago, we were at WDW when they used to have an educational desk at Epcot with various televisions overhead, one of which was showing the current weather satellite shot of central Florida. Sitting right on top of us was tropical storm Jerry; we didn't have a clue. I guess that's why the weather was so lousy!
Sometimes ignorance is bliss! :rotfl:

It depends on the network. Unless the Academy Awards are on ABC - you may be out of luck as far as the TV goes!

I am usually oblivious to the news unless something big happens - like H1N1 while on an April 2009 Caribbean cruise, or the bombings in London in July 2005 - right after we left there on a Baltic cruise.

They are on ABC so I'm hoping to catch some of it.

Is there a time and place to meet for our group? Gosh this trip is close now. Getting very excited.
Disnemimi (Karen) :)

We're on deck 6 : ) NancyIL, are you in Illinois? We're near Chicago. Anyone running the Princess 5K before the cruise? Our family is signed up for it. SHould be a fun way to start out vacation. : )

I have heard back from most (I think just one person didn't respond), but we will get stateroom tours going at 2:30 on embarkation day. I will post a list with who, where, etc....this weekend, I promise!

I know there was some concern about duplicate categories on the list. I will plan on keeping all staterooms on the list, and we can decide as we get going on the tour if we have seen one 6A we've seen them all kind of thing. Not having the list in front of me, I am thinking, like Krisann said before, there may be enough differences even within the same category (deck location, layout, etc) that may want us to keep them all on the list.

I have had a bit of a stressful cruise planning weekend trying to get my parents stateroom, 5678, changed for this cruise. The reviews for deck 5 aft rooms are UGLY and I won't have them sleeping in a room that literally vibrates from the bass in Evolution. They have now been switched to a GTY 9A with a bit of a refund back with the downgrade, so we will see if the gamble is worth it...or if they end up in the same exact location back in a 8D (with an "upgrade") with the cruise being so full.

Yes, I'm in Champaign. :)

I considered the Princess half-marathon (would've been my first race) when it was originally scheduled for March 6. That idea ended when it was moved to Feb. 27. I hope to do the 5K on Castaway Cay.

Two-Foxes,

not sure if it was me that did not contact you or not. I did not receive anything about the meeting at 2:30 that I recall. We are in 6588, a cat 4D room.

Also trying to figure out how to donate money towards the bracelets using paypal. Any help with that is appreciated.

Dani

I didn't know there was a 5k on Casteaway Cay! I haven't done much research at all. This cruise was a last minute shift from the TA in May that conflicted with kid events. (Scott and I did WB TA in Sept, so not a huge loss.) I guss I should research. We're just happy to be on the new ship. Even the kids were not disappointed about going from the 14 day down to the 4 day when they heard about being on the Dream.

We're in McHenry County, up near the Wisconsin border. Did you all get the snow??? My goodness. We still aren't completely dug out, and the snow keeps coming! I figured even if it's chilly on the cruise in February (thought probably not), it's still going to seem balmy after this below 0 weather!

I did the half marathon in January for Marathon weekend. My 21 year old (not doing the cruise) did the Princess last year and the full marathon this year. It was my first race, too, and it was SO MUCH FUN! I had my head phones in with kickin' music and sang out loud for 13.1 miles! LOL! BEST. TIME. EVER. I'm sure those around me either slowed down or sped up to avoid me, but it was just so much fun to be enjoying my tunes and the Disney atmosphere with so many other (27, 000) runners. I cried when I crossed the finish line and wear my shiny Donald medal with pride! LOL! Who woulda thunk a 47 year mom of 8 could do anything like that??!!! I really hope you get the opportunity to enjoy that experience, Nancy!

Krisann I sent you a PM about me not getting my secret mickey info. Let me know as soon as you can.

The wristbands are in (and picked up from Nashville and delivered to my house in Jackson thanks to a friend before the snow hit!)

With the help of my MIL we have divided out by cabin and size, put in baggies with name and info on the outside and divided out by decks - they are ready to just get their thank you card!

I have had $29 in donations from the following people:

daisy37
KrisannB
jleininger
scubamickey
stacieps

If anyone else would like to donate (you can just give me the money on the ship) please email me at akblair@charter.net and just let me know you plan to and how much. We only lack $16 from our total cost of $45.

Also if you thought your name should be on the list and it is not let me know ASAP at akblair@charter.net

anyone emailing me about this please put in the subject line: Dream Wristband donation

Thanks!

They turned out so cute - will try to take a picture and upload them in a little bit.

Krisann

I was told by DCL that we got the last two rooms. : ) There are 2 adults and 6 kids. So excited!

Can you go out to the spreadsheet and add your information please! We are giving out silicone wristbands to everyone and I need ages and cabin numbers so I know what sizes to give to you and where to deliver! Thanks

Krisann

We didn't get nearly as much snow as Chicago and further north - maybe 6 inches on top of several inches of ice.

Congratulations on finishing the race, and on raising 8 kids! How many of them will be on the cruise?

You had responded here in the thread on 1/24 that you preferred the embarkation day, so I didn't PM you. But, I have you on the list!
