February 23, 2008 Magic Western

Kayley would love to be part of the kids thread. Just let me know where... After Christmas does sound like the best time to start.

Okay, we will wait til after Christmas to start a kids thread, just don't be surprised if it shows up at 12 AM on the 26th! :lmao:

I just booked Country Inn and Suites for the Friday night before we sail. I think maybe there are a couple others staying there as well?

Also, does anyone have recommendations on car rental companies? We are planning to rent a car at MCO and return it at the port Saturday morning.
Michelle

Hi all,

A few threads ago, someone raised the point about a DIS meet onboard. We are going to be aiming to be at the port for as close as possible to 10 am, to get boarding pass #2 or 3. We are heading up to Topsiders for lunch, and if the weather is sunny and even remotely hot enough for swimming, the girls will either have bathing suits on underneath their clothes or will have them in the carry-on. We will likely be heading for the Mickey and/or Goofy pool areas for the remainder of the afternoon.

Is everyone else aiming to get there early? Could we have an informal meet around the Goofy pool?

I can't imagine wanting to wrench myself (or the kids) away from the pool once settled for a meet if it's indoors and downstairs?

Hi Michelle! We are also staying at Country Inn and suites. We've only cruised once before and we rented a car thru Budget. Had no problems. My DH dropped us off at the terminal Saturday morning, drove back to Budget to drop the car off and then they have a shuttle that brought him back to the terminal. Hope this helps! :)

I feel like Jacob is the only boy!!! You all have girls around the 5-6 yo age!! :(

Thanks Holli. I was thinking about Budget, especially because they are right in the airport (one less shuttle to take!) It's good to know it went smoothly for you. We rented from them last year for WDW and it was fine.

I would be up for a meet by the pool. I think that's our tentative plan as well...try to be up and to the port in the morning. Start our vacation as early as possible! :thumbsup2

My 3 DD's are in on the forum after the Holidays. Call me old fashioned but I would like them to write letters via snail mail. It just seems more personal.
We will try to meet at the pool also but can not guarantee anything due to being pulled in 3 different directions.

Anyone dressing up for Pirates night?

Melpirate:

Mel, I'm sure Julia would like to do both the forum and snail mail! If you want to PM me with your mailing address, I will do the same. (And anyone else who would like to participate!):thumbsup2
Michelle

We will be staying at the Caribbean Beach for 2 nights before the cruise. I think we are going to take the transfers, so we won't be there until late.
Snale mail is fine also. Kayley will love to receive mail.
Is everyone doing fish extenders and little goodies. I am trying to think of what to bring to put in everyones fish extenders. I don't think a snow ball will work. :lmao: We have so much snow already. :scared1: I am so glad we are going on this cruise. 60 and 70 degrees will be nice and warm. It has been pretty cold up here.

I like the idea of snail mail too! It creates the opportunity to insert a picture, and then for sure the kids will find each other. Last year, Riley corresponded for 6 weeks with a girl her age, and then never found her on board! The ship is bigger than we think, I suppose. After the cruise, they wrote to each other and they were in many of the same places at approximately the same time, but just never connected. Riley is definitely interested in exchanging mail with everyone in her age group (5/6/7).

Hi Mel and Family!

Welcome to the group! I have added your family to our official listing on post #50! Hopefully our daughters can chat on the thread in Jan/Feb leading up to the cruise!

Elizabeth,

I was looking over the cruise meet and noticed I left out names.

Hi everyone!

We are SO excited about going on our very first Disney Cruise... :cloud9:

Thanks to cdndizzylizzy for keeping track of everyone - please add us to your list - DH (Clement), DD (Chloe - age 6), and me (Corinne). We are also Canadians; we live in Oakville ON.

We are especially excited to get away on a day like today when we found ourselves buried in a TON of snow - we were stuck in the house all day.

Hope to hear from some of you with kids around Chloe's age. She would love to get to know some kids before the cruise.

Merry Christmas :santa:
:hippie: Corinne

Hey Jump4Joy - we are from Oakville too and our daughters are coming along - 5 and 3. Where in Oakville? I agree with the snow comment. This is our first Disney Cruise as well and we are very, very excited. We hope we can just get to Orlando on the day of the sailing and don't get snowed in like yesterday - as it gets closer, I am seeing the advantages of going in a few days early - we are staying after the cruise instead.

Down to 68 days everyone!!:santa:

Hi AllPrincessMander! What a small world! We are in the Clearview part of Oakville, where are you? Just got stuck in the snow driving up my street! You'd think the plows would have been everywhere by now.

Thanks for the countdown - 68 days sounds wonderful!

We are going to Orlando on Feb 17th, so hopefully, we won't have to worry about bad weather. Then we are staying at DisneyWorld for 3 days after the cruise. Can't wait!:hippie:

We are in the Morrison area of Oakville. My oldest daughter (5 - Paige) goes to Maple Grove. (so we pass your area from the highway) Our daughters will be in the kids programs together. I am hoping that it is as good as what I have heard so we can have a bit of adult time but this is the family vacation so ......

I am Andrea
husband Jeff
Daughters Paige (5) and Tessa (3)

Hope to see you on board!!

Hi Andrea!

This is unbelievable! Our daughter also goes to Maple Grove! Were you at the Christmas concert this afternoon (Dec 18)? I believe it was the SK class that performed first - they were awesome.

I'm sure we will meet up with you on the cruise (if not sooner at a school function). I've already registered Chloe in the Oceaneer Club - she is very excited about checking it out. I've heard that the kids' programs on the Disney Cruises are the best - we shall see. Anyway, it will be so nice to get to know a few people ahead of time.

Take care! :hippie:

Welcome! I can't believe how close we are getting. I am about sick of the snow and need a break in paradise.

Hi disneytraceyl - our daughter Chloe is 6 as well. She is very excited about meeting other kids her age, like your daughter Kayley. Are you guys buried in snow in the UP? We sure are, so we can't wait for a bit of a break in paradise, too! Take care!
