February 23, 2008 Magic Western

Why are you wondering about the Bahamas docs? I don't think that these are needed for this cruise - just Grand Cayman, Mexico and Florida. All we got was our luggage tags - was there supposed to be more items in the package????

We also got our documents yesterday (Monday). One more thing done! We are in cabins 7004 and 7006. Our tickets show us as late sitting, but I checked the website and it shows Main Seating. That is a huge relief because I don't think my four kids would make it through the late dinner. Also, since we are a party of six, I was concerned it would be difficult to switch us.
Eleven days to go!

Yes, I also cannot believe this weather - we chose well to get away in February 2008. I can't remember when in the last 15 years we have had this much snow in SW Ontario. We had to bring the cans of paint in from the attached garage before they froze!

Florida - here we come!:beach:

PS - Also got our docs today, except the Bahamas form was missing ....

We didn't get the forms either. I was worried about it as a time issue, because I wanted to beeline through the check-in to get on board as soon as possible to change my dining time, and stopping to fill out forms seemed counterproductive. But I have always filled them out incorrectly anyway and ended up having to redo them, AND I just called Disney to order a gift and she said there was main dining available, and I am switched! So if you still want a switch, give them a call. You never know!

Also, for those of us freezing right now, it is currently:

74º in Key West (but rainy)
81º in Grand Cayman
72º in Cozumel and
79º in the Bahamas.
:woohoo:

It is freezing here in Michgan and of course it is starting to snow again. This cruise can not come soon enough!

I just called DCL to see if the main seating for dinner had any new openings like pp said, was told not at this time but that she could add us to the waitlist. Well, the problem there is that when I made our reservations in the first place, I was told at that time that I was beeing added to the main seating waitlist. I was not too happy to hear that we are just now being added!:headache:

Today is my DS 5th b-day:goofy:

Also, just a quick question:
I know that we are planning on meeting at 3:00 pm by the Goofy Pool. How will we know each other? Is there a certain spot near the pool that we will meet, port side or starboard? Thanks.

Yes, apparently since Castaway Cay is in the Bahamas and we are stopping there, we have to fill out the paperwork. If no-one got these forms, hopefully they will have a big pile of them available at the terminal. Filling them out will not be a big deal though, as long as we have done all the other online check-in and signatures etc. I will just grab them and fill them out in line. When we got to the terminal at 10:45 last year, I had to stand in line for 1/2 hour or so waiting to register, so that's plenty of time to fill them out while moving forward in the lineup!

Or, maybe it's intentional, and DCL has figured out a way to not have to fill out forms since we can't possibly be buying anything or leaving anything behind in the Bahamas given where we are going...

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't realize that technicall Castaway Cay is in the Bahamas but as you said since we cannot purchase or leave anything behind, maybe Disney found a way around international law - wouldn't surprise me. Now, all we have to do is pray that we get to the boat on time. With the recent and impending weather, I am getting increasingly anxious about missing flights and missing luggage etc.

I swear if we ever do this again, we will not plan to arrive the day of the cruise. I think it is going to take me 3 days to relax even after we get there as I am so worried that we are going to miss the boat.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon - hopefully the 23rd.

I was wondering if any of you have or are going to ship a box ahead of time?? My husband convinced me to do this and I am really nervous about it getting there? We shipped alot of the Pirate stuff, some beach toys, and only some of the door magnets.(plus other small stuff) After all the time and money I spent making the door signs I could not bear to send all of them ahead in case something happens and the box doesn't arrive. Have any of you done this before?

Hi everyone,
My name is Lori and we are booked on the 7nt cruise. We all were excited till my 7 year old daughter broke her leg 2 weeks ago. She is in a cast up to her mid thigh and in a wheelchair. She's really sad about not being able to swim and does not want to go. I've tried to explain that there will be so much to do on the cruise other then swim. Has anyone gone before and could pass on some helpful words to Emily. Our other daughter is 5 and ready to go. Thanks, Lori

I'm so sorry to hear about Emily's accident. There are lots of fun things that she can do that don't involve getting wet. I don't actually care much for swimming and I still find plenty of great things to do. I hear that the kid's club is fantastic, and there are so many shows and activities like the deck parties, the movies under the stars and so on. I'm sure she'll have a good time!

What a bummer Lori! Please reassure her that she will have tons of fun! This is our first cruise, but swimming is pretty low on our list of to-do's. (well at least mine!) There are a ton of 6-7 year old girls here on our little thread, so I'm sure she will make some great friends, and as Trish said, participate in the kids clubs, movies, shows and more. My 7-year-old Julia is really looking forward to seeing the shows, watching the movie Enchanted onboard, making Flubber and other crafts at the kids clubs, plus eating some great food and seeing the sights in the ports.

Check out the thread we started for the kids and have Emily say hello: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675401 :goodvibes

Welcome aboard, I know we're all going to have a great time!

Hi Everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!
We are having fun getting ready for the cruise. I went shopping today for a couple of new dresses to wear at dinner and for formal night. I love getting a chance to dress up and get out of my "mommy clothes".

Hi Lori,
I am sorry to hear about your DD accident. I know that she is upset now, but I'm sure that she will still have a good time. Maybe she can have all of the characters sign her cast.

Our forcast is calling for more snow all next week. We are flying down the day before the cruise, so hopefully we won't have any problems.

See you all soon!

Kristin

Hi Lori,

As the rest of our group has already stated, not being able to swim is not a big deal at all. At age 7, you are really too big already for the Mickey Pool anyways and the Goofy Pool is actually pretty small. On the "at sea" days, the pools get really busy, and we stay away from the pools and do all the other activities that are happening. There is always a great breeze on board the Magic, so don't worry about getting hot when you are up on Deck 9! All the girls on the kids' thread are really nice - they will be sure to include you in all the activities they are doing!

We are also on this cruise. Our travel party consists of my wife and myself (our 6th cruise on the DCL), and 2 friends who have booked the stateroom next to us. Looking forward to this cruise!:cool1:

Welcome....

Where are we meeting at by the goofy pool????

Should we say "near the stage", and more particularly "on the same side that crew members set up the piano"? On the one side, there is a covered side area where they set up musical instruments etc.

Either one. I just want to make sure we don't miss anyone. There will be so many people around. Can't wait to meet everyone...
How many cabins do we have on the fish extender list?

Here is what we look like - we haven't changed much since last year (oh, except DH doesn't have the moustache and beard any more!)...

That is great. We will be looking for you. I think we have a picture of your little one on our refrigerator at home. I am sure my daughter Kayley will recognize her right away. Looking forward to meeting everyone. 6 more days and we leave for Disney
