February 23, 2008 Magic Western

Hi magiclj! My son and his friend will be so happy to see some "kids" going that are the same age as him!! He seems to think that they're going to be the only 19 year olds on the ship!! I know that on Sat.night once on board they have one meeting listed in the Navigator where College age kids can meet others the same age!!!

Congrats stulaurie!!! The upgrade sounds awesome! I hope there will be more upgrades for everyone!!

Welcome mr. b and magiclj!

Congrats stulaurie on your upgrade! :wizard:

Gary we wish we'd bought a Mac too, unfortunately it was not in the finances at the moment. Darn Disney cruise! I think my Dell just doesn't like Google-based applications. It has issues with Picasa too. ;) (Sorry :offtopic: )

Cayley, I wonder if your son would be interested in exchanging letters (or at the very least receiving one) with my daughter Megan, age 3. Yeah she can just barely write her name, but is very envious of big sister who has been corresponding with some of the kids she will meet on the cruise. She would love to make a picture, send a photo, etc. If you are interested (or anyone else with kids in that age group...I'm having a hard time keeping track of everyone) PM me with your snail mail address!

Thanks all! 24 days! :woohoo:
Michelle :wave2:

This is our third cruise and the kids have loved it!!!! I was concerned my daughter might be bored, although she is looking forward to it. I am glad to see that college kids have an opportunity to meet.

Hi Gary!! Are you warmed up yet!!!? :cold: Ha! If you go to disneycruiseline.com, type in your reservation # it should have your room number and all who are traveling in your party!!

Aloha Shipmates,

It looks like most of you are getting hammered by the winter weather. Not so for us in the Mid- Atlantic region. It has been cold but no significant snow yet. I was just typing in all of our information on the Disney site when I decided to check out the calendar for ships that will be in the same ports as us. I don't know if this has been posted before but I am lazy and don't feel like scanning the old posts. Here we go:

Key West
Costa Mediterranea 0800-1700

Grand Cayman
Carnival Legend 0700-1600
Celebrity Century 0730-1700
Costa Mediterranea 0800-1500
Norwegian Majesty 0800-1500
Grand Princess 0700-1600

Cozumel

Carnival Legend 1000-1800
Carnival Holiday 0800-1800
Celebrity Constellation 1000-1900
Costa Mediterranea 0900-1900
Norwegian Majesty 1000-1800
Norwegian Sun 0800-1700
Oceania Regetta 1100-1800
Grand Princess 0800-1800
Navigator of the Seas 0700-1700

It seems like Cozumel is going to be crazy! Take care and see ya'll soon.

Hi Michelle! I love the idea of sending snail mail, but apparently my post count is too low to send a PM... :confused3 hopefully I'm close tho. I will keep you updated!

Thank you for the welcome! I'm just happy to have found you all and wish I had a lot earlier!

And I'm not just saying that because I need to boost my post count. I'm just posting it separately so I can boost my post count. ;)

Hi Cayley,

That was me LAST February. Our whole family was really sick last year in the weeks leading up to the cruise (but thankfully we were better by the time we got there!)

my son had a terrible cold the week before the cruise last year. My poor little guy was so knocked out that week and even the first couple days onboard. We took him to his pediatrician to check him out before we left because I was terrified of letting him fly if he had an ear infection but other than a slight fever he was fine. I must say that it helped on that first day because he just slept on every leg of our journey. This year I am considering keeping us in a bubble til the cruise so none of get sick anywhere near the day we depart!!! ;)

Sooo in the interest of boosting your post count (and me getting your PM), let's make small talk. I see you're from Boston. We're in Henniker, NH and looking forward to a lovely ice storm this afternoon! Are you a Patriots fan?
Michelle :)

Seriously! I told my family we are going to be a germ-free zone the week leading up to the cruise. No playdates! Manditory handwashing on the hour!

We all got a stomach bug during our WDW vacation last year  and as awful as it was at least we had a rental home and not a tiny stateroom! Here's to good healthy vibes for us all! :goodvibes

Yes, I can hear the sleet hitting my windows as I write this. I know you are supposed to get the worst of it tho, we should be switching to rain soon. We are leaving "same day" so I won't mind what we get weatherwise for at least another 3 weeks. lol. Do you leave early?

I am not much of a football fan, although my son has been wearing his Teddy Bruschi jerseys he got for Christmas (home and away) but mostly because his favorite auntie gave them to him. When people ask him if the Patriots will win on Sunday he just looks confused. In our house the celebration on Superbowl Sunday is because it means we're only 2 weeks away from the Daytona 500. We go up to your neck of the woods 2x a year to NHIS. How about you? Is NH as excited as Boston about Sunday? Having a party?

Great ideas! The week before is school vacation week for us so luckily Cameron will be far away from any other kids! I plan to keep it that way! As a bonus maybe the poor kid will be so starved for fun with kids his own age that he will spend lots of time in the Oceaneers Club! (just kidding!) (sorta) ;)

Yes, and also to absolutely no weather systems of any kind over the eastern seaboard as well!

We are leaving the day before the cruise and staying over Friday night in Port Canaveral. With the way the weather is here, I just couldn't take the stress of worrying about a delay! :scared1:

I think NH is definitely as excited. We are not huge football fans or anything, but it is fun this time of year, especially with the undefeated season. I *think* we are going to a Superbowl party at a friends house, but I just bought tickets for Finding Nemo on Ice at noon on Sunday, so it will depend on how tired we all are after that little outing...

We were trying to save the money of the hotel room, but I think in all future cruises I will insist we leave early. I have already warned my hubby that no matter what the cost, if there is a storm coming in we are changing our plans and heading out early.

Wow! Have fun at Finding Nemo. We will just end up sitting at home and watching the commercials. We have friends that normally throw a party but I guess they got a better offer this year. LOL

Now, let's hope 10 is the magic PM number!

I'm not nearly as concerned about germs as I am about weather. It's been quite a winter here (NH) and for the first time ever I'm flying in Friday night instead of Thursday during the day. I'm nervous about not having my extra day of "what-if-the-flight-is-weather-delayed" padding.

I notice there are several of us on this cruise in the MA/NH area. I wonder if we're close enough to get together for lunch or something before we leave?

I'm 55 minutes from Manchester, 45 minutes from Nashua, 60 minutes from Burlington, MA.

Wow, what a small world. We are in Plymouth MA. We will be celebrating on Sunday and cheering on the Patriots. My favorite part of the game is the FOOD!! We usually stay home, just because it is too late for the kids if we go out.

This is going to sound really bad, but I brought both of my kids to the doctor yesterday and they both have double ear infections. I am actually kinda happy about it. Everytime we travel my DD gets sick, and it is always in the middle of the night and she cries the whole time and then we spend the next day finding a Hospital, Free Clinic, or going to the Infirmary on the Ship. I can't believe that she actually is getting it over with before we cruise. I've gotten smarter though, I always get Travel Insurance when we are travelling with her. We are leaving the Wed. before the cruise and driving down.

Is anyone else getting stressed about packing? I have had my list made out forever, but now I actually have to start buying some of the stuff and looking for some things around the house. The worst part is trying on the clothes to see if they still fit.

Tell me about it. Last time I went on a vacation was before my toddler was born. Absolutely none of my formalwear still fits, nor does most of my summerwear. I really hate to buy a whole new wardrobe at this size, though, since I'm trying to lose the rest of the baby weight.
