February 23, 2008 Magic Western

I'm doing one gift, not one per day because frankly I can't afford 7 gifts per stateroom, nor can I spare that much luggage space. Since my DD is flying as a lap child I don't get any baggage allowance for her, but toddlers sure need a lot of stuff!

I don't want to do 7 gifts for the same reasons, but I'm thinking I will probably do 2 or 3 per stateroom over the course of the week. I have ideas for ones that would be pretty inexpensive. Plus I know I always end up getting carried away with these things once I get started! :rolleyes1

Cabin Availability on January 21st., for our Feb. 23rd Cruise.

I was just checking the DCL Website and here is the availability of our cruise:

There are 5 Catagory 7's.

Catagory 6, 5, and 4 can be booked as a Gty. This really does not make sense to me. How can you have a Gty. if there are no available cabins in that catagory or any catagorys above?

Only a few more days and we should start to see if anyone got an upgrade. We are still listed as 12Gty. Please post when you find out.

Thanks

I was curious about this...is it common to get an upgrade even after room numbers have been assigned? (We picked our specific room at the time of booking.)
Michelle :)

It's not common, but it's been known to happen. If you want to keep a specific room even if you're offered an upgrade, I'd make sure it's noted in your reservation.

I think why some categories are stating that they are available is that some people (like us) were on waiting lists for certain rooms. They now have become available for whatever reason and now our old room (cat 4) is available (8084). We were wait listed for a suite and just got it assigned so our 8084 should now be available. I think they are just shuffling everyone now but they have to wait for people to get back to them before they move the next person. Sounds like a long drawn out process.

1 month tomorrow!!!!!:cool1:

That makes sense. How did you find out about getting your new room? Did you check online or did your Travel Agent or Disney Call?

Congrats. on getting the room you wanted.

Disney called us to see if we still wanted the higher level room. (they wanted to make sure that they got the additional $$) We had a chance to decline it if we didn't want it but ....

I think as far as the "free" upgrades - these happen from the lower categories to available higher ones. I think their goal is to get as many people as possible in the higher category rooms as the enjoyment factor goes up if your room is bigger or if you have a good view of the outdoors from your room. For the free upgrades, I don't know if they will ask or they just do it as I don't think anyone would complain about getting a free upgrade.

All,
Can hardly wait, it's 2 degrees hear so the sun & heat are welcome.

Has anyone heard of, an upgrade using DVC points?

Welcome June and family ! :goodvibes

We created a thread just for the kids too if your son would like to participate: disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675401 Welcome to the board.

Michelle :wave2:

Thanks for the link. We had Shane post a message. He has a lot in common with the other kids.

Hi All,
Don't know if this has been mentioned but Google Earth is very neat for looking up sites, put in Key West and it shows where the Disney Magic ports, all the sites you can visit-realy helps for planning if we want to take tours or wing it on our own-Gary

Hi everybody! I need to catch up on this thread but I was just so excited to see so many people going on the same cruise as me that I thought I'd just jump in and say "hi" first. This will be my and my son's 3rd Disney Cruise and my husbands 2nd (The first time my mom just wanted my son and I to join her)

We are on deck 5 in a cat 8 and it will be me: Cayley, 41; DH: Paul, turning 40 on the cruise; and DS Cameron, 4.

Now I am off to read as much of this thread as I can and get to know more about you all!

See ya real soon!

Hi Cayley,

It's great to "meet" you! Hopefully by the time you get to Page 4 of our thread, you will see that I have added your family to the cruise roster! Our kids will be "stormin the clubs" for sure - there is a significant listing of kids in the 4-9 age bracket!

Wow, thanks Elizabeth! I also learned that you and I were on the same cruise last year also! The next time you need to edit that list again you can put our stateroom down as 5518, at your convenience, though.

I also need to decide if I am going to participate in the fish extender thing... it sounds fun but with only 28 days, 1 hour , 12 minutes and 33 seconds til we sail I wonder if I'll have the time. lol.

(Yes, I have a countdown timer and weather reports for each port right on my desktop. It is 82 degrees in Cozumel right now!)

Countdown timer to the seconds? Woohoo! Cayley you are my kind of gal! I'm so excited about this vacation my family and friends think I've lost my mind.
Welcome to the group!

Gary I love Google Earth! As a former Geography major, I could spend a lot of time playing around with it....Unfortunately our new Windows Vista system doesn't seem to agree. :sad2: I may have to try again and risk the infamous "blue screen."
Michelle :)

Hi Michelle,
We recently got a new Dell with vista as well, Google earth seems to work fine. I do wish we would have bought a Mac instead though.

We looked at a lot of the tours and decided we might just wing it and see what is available as each day arrives, just having the sun set later makes me anxious for the cruise-Gary

Thank you Michelle! I am very excited too! I have been here all day reading TRs. Luckily my son and husband have been playing trains all day and left me all this peace and quiet to do so!! Also, he has finally conceded that I am officially obsessed and just lets me be.
:cool1:

Hi Cayley,

That was me LAST February. Our whole family was really sick last year in the weeks leading up to the cruise (but thankfully we were better by the time we got there!), and so didn't go very far on weekends - I spent every Saturday and Sunday for 3 weeks in Feb '07 soaking up every TR and thread about the Western itinerary - it was such a great way to prepare for the cruise! Have fun!

My wife and I, and 2 friends are also going on the Feb.23rd cruise. It will be our 6th cruise. This will be the 3rd cruise that we have been upgraded on. We are looking forward to this...can't wait!:cool1:

I can not believe it!!!!!

Our room number was posted to the Disney Web Site today and we have been upgraded from a Cat. 12Gty. to a Cat. 9. Deck 2 Mid Ship. I couldn't have asked for a better room. We are so excited. We so wanted to book a Cat. 9, but it was $1000.00 more for the window. Thank You Disney!!!!!
