February 2014

YES!!! Saved $59.88 on 7 night stay at Pop, with 6 day base park tickets, and up grade to Magic your way dining plan. It's not a lot but money is money!

I am glad someone was able to save some money. :thumbsup2 And yes, even a small amount is nice.

I checked out the new deal but it would have actually cost me three dollars more. So, the math wasn't there for me.

We have just 3 more sleeps at home before flying to MCO! (That's Orlando International Airport for those of you who drive.) Thanks for the good wishes. We check into the WL on the 14th :) and check out on the 21st :( The weather is looking pretty good with highs in the 70's to low 80's and just a couple of days with showers possible. That time of year it does gets chilly overnight though so we'll be carrying fleeces in the back pack for the evenings we're staying in a park.

Our 60 day mark for our late February trip is Christmas Day so I may not be trying to choose our FP+ until 59 days out!

Try to get some sleep tonight and have a great trip! :wizard:Lots of Pixie Dust your way!

Just think in just a few hours you will be arriving in WDW and checking into the WL!

Made our reservations a few days ago, we will be there Jan 31- Feb 7, staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!:jumping3:

Our grandson had a fantastic first trip to WDW and wore us out!!!:faint: We did many rides twice, some three times and Splash Mountain topped them all with 4 trips through the brier patch and up and down those mountains! I sat in the front of the log once and got soaked. We got wet every trip, some times more so than others. He loved it.

We arrived home last night following our 1 week stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Here is just a quick recap of our trip taken November 14 – 21, 2013.

We flew into MCO and took the Magical Express. From stepping off the plane to arrival at WL took around 80 minutes. ME dropped off passengers at the Poly and GF before WL. Check-in went smoothly with no lines. We had booked Woods View with bunk beds. I requested 5th floor, North Wing, Wishes view. We were given room 4020 which is in North Wing and it had a fairly good view of Wishes through the trees. I had also asked for special cleaning due to allergies. In February we had asked for special cleaning at Port Orleans Riverside and that room was spotless. This was not the case at WL. The major dirt was the floor of the closet that had been completely missed. I discovered that as I dropped DH’s navy pants while I was trying to clip them onto a hanger and they fell to the floor and were instantly covered in dust and long hair. Other than that, the room was fine and DGS enjoyed having the top bunk to sleep in and the lower bunk to spread some of his stuff on. We still found him taking over our bed to play on at various points, lol.

Our Magic Bands worked perfectly for everything; room entry, charges & most importantly FP+. We were all issued KTTW cards at check-in and I pulled some regular FPs with those.

Crowds were low, as expected, during our week. Toy Story Midway Mania was the only Fast Pass attraction that had no passes left for the day by around 10 am so I’m glad we were able to book FP+ for that one especially. We were able to pull extra FPs for Soarin as late as 3:30 pm with a return time of 6:20 – 7:20 pm. We had FP+ for Soarin between 10 – 11 am and could have pulled extra FPs then but they were for a time we’d be in World Showcase. Our other FP+ in EP were TT & MS in the afternoon but their stand-by waits were only 10 – 15 minutes when we used our FP+. So MS was another attraction we did twice in a row.

Magic Kingdom was the park we visited twice, while AK, EP & DHS were each done once. The only rope drop we made was day 1 for the MK. Therefore, FP+ worked especially nice for us. On Big Thunder Mountain DGS learned that he did not like “big” roller coasters screaming that he wanted to get off only ¼ of the way through the ride. So I knew then to use MDE to change experiences in place of Space Mountain and that he could skip the single rider lines for RNRC and Dinosaur which we didn’t plan on doing ourselves. Splash Mountain was such a hit that we did it 4 times! Surprisingly, the stand-by wait was only 10 minutes when we were there.

We only had one mostly rainy day which was Saturday, the 16th. We did Animal Kingdom that day and shortened our itinerary there due to the hassle of being in and out of our ponchos. I’m glad we got to see FOTLK, a favorite show of mine, since it will be on hiatus prior to its move to new location when DH & I return in February. Also, the animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris were all out and about in the rain including the male lion and two lionesses. We also saw the zebras while on KS this time. We abandoned our plans for our favorite CS (Flame Tree BBQ) due to the rain but walked in and were seated at Yak & Yeti which still had plenty of space at 11:30 am. They were full by the time we finished our lunch. Not knowing if the Jingle Jangle Parade would go on due to the rain we left the park around 3 pm and grandson got a lot of homework done once we got back to our room.

Special Magical experience thanks to staff at WL: Travis checked us in and I inquired about rooftop Wishes viewing. He did some checking and set that up for us for Nov. 15th which was a MVMCP night with the larger fireworks show. We reported to the Concierge Desk at 9:15 pm and Samuel took us up to the 7th floor. From there we walked through a door and up the stairs to the 7 1/2th floor. The next door leads outside and you walk up several more steps outdoors to a small section of rooftop. We were the only ones up there with Samuel who said this is his favorite part of working at WL. Seeing all of Magic Kingdom lit up and watching the fireworks from here was truly beautiful. Of course, you also can see the CR and if you turn around 180 degrees you can see Spaceship Earth in the far distance.

Pixie Dusted in DHS by a CM near Star Tours who gave DGS a FP for up to 3 guests for one more trip on Star Tours any time that day. This was after we had gone stand-by once and used our FP+ for a second consecutive ride.

Lifetime memories continued as we were in the jet way to board our flight home and the captain passed by us. I mentioned to him that this trip had been the first one for our grandson to remember because his only other flights were when he was a year old. The captain then spoke to Jason and told him to take a left turn when he stepped on the plane and come to visit him to see how he flew the plane. J. was invited to sit in the co-pilot’s seat, I was surprised how much time the captain took talking with him & showing him how the controls work etc. Such a kind gesture of that fine gentleman.

Now I'm looking forward to our brief February stay at FQ, just DH & I, possibly for our final WDW trip. It is so difficult for us to eat low sodium and get enough healthy vegetables while vacationing. At least we know it will be much easier on our couples trip while not having to cater to the limited palate of our very picky eater grandson. BTW, he loved Sci-Fi and was able to get a hot dog despite it no longer being on their printed kid's menu. Contrary to many reviews I have read, our server there was fantastic and took good care of us beginning by asking J. if he had a driver's license (he was in the front seat with Grandpa) and when J. responded "no, I'm only 8 years old" Yassine soon returned with a driver's license for him. DH & I ordered build your own burgers and they were much better than the burgers we had at Roaring Forks in WL.

Ask away if you have any specific questions that I might be able to answer.

Not sure how it happened or why (glitch?), but I was messing around hitting the request fastpass+ button, knowing I couldn't book until 60 days, when lo and behold it let me get passed the step where it usually gives the message that you cant book yet! :dance3: This was the Mobile App by the way....the MDX website still wont let me book.

I was able to book through "fastpicks", then I was able to change the attractions and times. It only offered me Epcot, other parks were not available yet. Still....mega stoked! :cool1:

For those wondering, this was for February 17. Maybe other parks will open sooner than 60 days?

This same thing has been reported by people who were in the Jan group too. Caused problems later for some of them. Inability to process FP+ later without difficulty, problems changing this FP+ later, ghost reservations, etc. don't want to burst your bubble but this EPCOT glitch is a Pandora's box from what I've heard. Looks great for eager planners but a problem later. I'd be careful about this particular glitch, like I said not my personal experience, just passing along what Jan threads are reporting. It was enough to dissuade me from taking advantage of it though.

Uh oh...Ill have to read up on the january threads. Thanks for the heads up!

Made our reservations a few days ago, we will be there Jan 31- Feb 7, staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!:jumping3:

Hurrah for you! :cheer2: I think the cabins look like they would be a fun and relaxing place to stay.

We will be at AKL Jan 28 - Feb 6. I am so excited, can't wait for vacation![/QUOTE

Welcome to our group! :cool1:A stay at AKL would be nice! I would expect you to see lots of active animals during your stay in Feb since the temps shouldn't be as hot as the summer.

Kathy Z,

It sounds like your grandson had a grand first trip! :thumbsup2

Thanks for going into detail about the things you were able to do! It sounds like you really got through lots of rides.

I hope FP+ works as well for us in Feb as it did for you in November. I think I will pick my FP for the afternoons and evenings based on your experience and others I have read here on the DIS.

Wow! Now I have another decision to make. Do I try to make FP plans now or wait? stalebomb, I hope everything works out for you. Thanks for you post!

taterheads - thanks for sharing what you have heard about the possible glitch.

No problem! I like to read the Jan threads because it gives me a heads up to what's going on the month before our trip. That way I can make educated judgements when these types of things present themselves. In this case it seems all that glitters is not gold. We decided to hold off and make all our FP+ reservations at 60 days so we don't have to worry about ghosts. ;)

I think your idea is a good plan. I think I will hold off for now too.

I decided to delete my fastpasses just in case :) I've only got to wait another 20 days and i can make them legit. :) thanks for the advice folks.

Got my flash drive thingy in the mail today! 75 to WDW and 15 to online check-in and fast pass selections!

Got my flash thing too!! You can just go to the website address enclosed with it to view it. Dec 5 I can do our Fast Pass +. Down to 65 days!!!

Does anyone know if the flash drives are coming to those who did not book directly through WDW. :confused3 I booked mine through Small World Vacations.

Not everyone is getting the flash drives even if they DID book directly through Disney. According to posts on the Jan threads, it is hit and miss as to who gets them, it is considered as being a part of testing to train and promote MDE and the FP+ process. So they are kind of like pin codes- everyone wants on and no one knows how to ensure getting one- it's luck of the draw ;)

Yeah, I did see that it was hit or miss. Was just wondering if anyone had gotten one not directly booked.

I hit the 60 day mark on Friday, will I be able to do all of my FP+ on that day?
