February 12th, 2005 Western. Who's going???

Hey Mark, thanks for the welcome. I am beginning to get wrapped up in this and I now see why Julia keeps saying "tee hee, I am so excited, I can't sleep at night".

Welland is located about 20 minutes West of Niagara Falls, nice area, quiet drive to work...

I am convinced that there will be no time to get bored, both Julia and I are are ramping up to making this a trip of a lifetime, because one thing is for sure and that is, "you only get to take your 1st Disney Cruise, once!"

The fact that the CM's do their best to make it an enjoyable trip shows that beyond the $'s that DCL wants to make, they are more focused on the repeat cruisers, which is a good thing I think. Ya know ... we keep telling the kids that this trip is for them :rotfl2:

I am really glad that we have chosen this trip, I think it is going to be great for Julia, she is a social butterfly, that is for sure, so I can just bet that all you women out there are going to become part of her following :worship:

Mark, looking forward to meeting with you and tippin back a few :drinking1 well, maybe not that fast ..

Jen..........Jen........where the heck are you at.........I'm trying to keep us at the top of the list..........But I'm getting tired !!!! Oh well.......enough Disney for one day.

LOL, did you know that if you save a link to our thread, you never have to look through the big list to find it? That's how I always get here. I'm too lazy to have to actually look for it. ;)

For those of you who have been on DCL before, have you ever gone to the family talent show? Kaela is has been in dance for the last 7 years and we've tried to talk her into bringing her tap shoes and tape from her recital but she says "no way!". I think it would be really fun to do something like this. If you've been to it, are there many people that get up and perform?

Hello to all you fellow DIS'rs

I have decided to create a user name for myself and begin to provide my input because Kyydd2000 :cat: {Julia} is getting way too excited for me to sit by and just let things unfold.

I must admit, having never taken a cruise before - let alone a Disney Cruise, it has become quite an event for Julia and I. We went to Nassau, Bahamas last year and it was awsum to say the least. I some how get a warm feeling come over me when I think of the "bathtub warm" water we were exposed to during that trip. Being as it was an All-Inclusive and the food was excellent, I have come to think that we are in for somewhat the same in a couple weeks. However, the way you "experienced cruisers" :worship: are explaining, I think that this up and coming trip will show us a time like we have never had.

I look forward to meeting most if not all of you. I hope that with the kids occupied doing their thing that some of us adults can let our hair down and just have a blast ... :cool1:

Welcome, Mr Bill, I know it is very addictive I can not wait to get up and see what someone wrote, especially when someone writes interesting things it just gets you so excited. TWO MORE WEEKS! I think we are going to have a great time.

Welcome home Mark!!! I am excited to this new phone of yours.

Ok, Mark and Jen question, will a large suitcase fit under the bed, one that is 60 linear. I am trying not to take as many pieces of luggage. I was hoping that I would be able to pack my whole family in two big cases and all have carry ons.
Thanks Steph

LOL........ I do the same thing, but every once in a while, I like us to be at the top of the list..........so new folks can find us in the first couple of threads. Never know when an experienced cruiser might come poking around and offer some advice. There are dozens of people who read through the DIS boards every day. And I thought I was a Disney Fanatic.

Hi Steph, Hope you guys manage to get everything into 2 suitcases. We use a normal size suitcase for each of us (4). We also have a empty, roll-on duffle bag at the start of the cruise, and it comes home full. Our suitcases just manage to fit under the bed....... may have to lift the bed a bit to shove under LOL. I can measure the height of one of ours if you wish, the length should not be an issue.

I'm trying to remember what we did with ours. I think we fit one of them under the bed. I think the other ones we managed to put inside one another and put them in the closet.

Hey, here's a funny thing that I thought of the other day. For those of you that have never been on a cruise before, do you know how it works with your luggage at the end of the cruise? You pack everything up the night before and you put your bags out for your room steward to pick up. They have to be out in the hall by 11:00pm. So we get everything out there and I'm laying out my clothes for Saturday when I suddenly realize I packed all my bras! :earseek: So I quick run to the door to get my suitcase back only to discover that our steward was there at that very moment taking our stuff away! I had to ask him for one of the bags back because I had "forgotten to pack something". :rotfl2: So I guess my best advise to all you ladies is "Make sure you have all essential clothing items BEFORE you put out your bags." If I hadn't realized that until the next morning, it could have been quite embarrassing!

Jen...that's one of my reoccuring dreams...wake up with nothing but pj's to get off the ship!! :) That and forgetting my birth certificates at home...I even dreamed last night that I was taking my ex's 22 year old wife on the cruise with me...OK, now I know I have to get a reality that's not the Disney Cruise!!!! :)

By the way Mark, this GRIT is sitting in her livingroom looking out at about two inches of ice. Our power went out and trees crashed down. I really like you guys from the North but please don't send your weather down this way!!! :)

I am really looking forward to meeting all of you in a couple of weeks. For some reason I'm shy at first, but warm up quickly. It's nice to know I won't be alone. Thanks!

Hello-
Just checking in today. Yesterday was tiring watching dd play basketball is harder than actually playing. Her team has come a long ways in 2wks.

Jen-Which day are you planing the brunch? I thought I had in noted down somewhere but. I really need to modivate. I'm sort of so excited & not able to function.

Dd #2 was ill again. Last night. Hope she just gets it all over with.

We have early seating @ dinner. We normaly eat pretty early @ home. We usally get to bed early also. Dh goes to work @ 430am. Hopefully he'll break that habit real fast.

Think I'm going with the clothes I have under my roof now. I think. I'm not a big shopper & havent done well last couple times tried. Think we'll check out Ron Jons friday.

Well so long for now, in 2 weeks we'll all be in Key West--wasting away in Margaritaville. Wendy

Wendy, I'm going to try to book us for Monday around 10:30 or 11:00. Our only other option is on Thursday because they only do the brunch on sea days.

Sorry to her dd is sick. I hope she's feeling better in a jiffy. Here's a flower for her. :flower: DH now has the same thing that I had last week. I sure hope that our dd's don't get it!

And I know what you mean about that early to bed thing. DH gets up at 1:30am :earseek: Of course that doesn't mean I go to be early. I'm a terrible night owl. Thankfully he doesn't seem to have too much trouble adjusting his schedule for the cruise. It's coming home and readjusting that's really hard!

Today at church the pastor asked me when we were going and to of course had to make mention that in two weeks we'd be sitting in Key West. He's jealous. LOL

Well since our luggage was lost with Continental, I had to go buy new luggage. My "average piece" that I always used was gone, now I am stuck with this luggage that we had to buy "big" luggage to come home with. I was going to bring an empty luggage too, but not sure which one(it always seems that you have more luggage to come home with than what you came with. I heard also that you can put your luggage on the Verandah. We have a navigator, wish we got a actual verandah now learning about the difference after the fact. I will know for next time.....

About the luggage thing. I was on one site somewhere, God knows where now but it said that there is a 9 inch clearance for luggage under the bed. Hope that helps anyone. It was a posting from someone who took a Magic cruise and wrote all about it. Hope this helps.

Back to work and back to being excited as Bill say...... :hyper:

Julia

Hi everyone. DD was ill, now D-Nephew has it. Hope all are healthy before we need to travel. See you all in less than 2 weeks!

DH just saw a commercial for a new Pooh movie that's coming out on the 11th. I bet we'll have that on the ship. I'm sure my girls won't want to see it but for some of you that have younger kids it might be fun. Last year "Miracle" came out while we were on the Magic. It was so awesome seeing it in the Walt Disney Theatre. Everyone in the audience would cheer at the really exciting hockey parts. My moms BIL was on that team so it was kind of cool hearing his name throughout the movie. I wish something like that was going to be playing for us adults.

Hope you all had a great Sunday.........Jen, Get everyone well soon....... I can see the paniced look on your face as you retrieved your luggage. We go through similar concerns every trip. Its really hard to figure out what you will need for the next day, the night before..........and pack at the same time.

I'm trying! Just a little insider tip, buying stock in Lysol might be a good idea. I'm personally causing their stock prices to rise. LOL

Wow, all this fuss over clothing ... I thought this was a Caribbean Cruise, don't we need to simply bring a bathing suit and beach towel? Getting ready for this cruise seems to be taking its toll on everyone, ds1 has come down with a cough (bad one) about a week or so ago, ds2 began to show signs of it a few days ago and now dw (boss) is complaining of the same

I guess I am going to just have to stay at work until the day of sailing so that I don't get it... LOL

With the closing of the Atlanta airport just yesterday, it has caused a bit of concern for us, we fly into Atlanta onroute to Orlando, we are considering changing our flight to the 9th vice 11th ... anyone have any ideas of things to do with 2 young boys that would not come close to the price of this cruise?

Bill, Are you concerned about flying in the day before because of the ice storm in Atlanta? Because I'm sure all of the ice will be gone way before the 11th. And that's not normal weather for there so I wouldn't worry too much about anther ice delay like that.
