February 11, 2012 Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Magic***

:cloud9:Hi. I booked a couple of weeks ago. My BFF and I are doing a mini-reunion--just us 50-something girls. We live on opposite sides of the country now so this will be our chance to catch up. I'm the Dis freak; my friend tolerates--and secretly enjoys--my addiction, especially since I used my DVC points for the cabin. Cannot wait to meet some of you in just seven months (give or take a few days)!! Neither BFF nor I have kids, but we promise not to be curmudgeonly. We're both the most awesome aunts ever to our nieces/nephews.

Hi, Mokat, welcome to the group! Sounds so fun, your mini-reunion plans:goodvibes!

We're using our DVC membership too, for the Magic ;).

I have never cruised before, dh once as a teenager so I don't count that, although he does remember getting served alcohol and visiting Megan's Bay ;). We're cruising without any of our own kids, but we will not be curmudgeonly either (well, I couldn't promise that until I looked up the definition :rotfl: but now I can say that we will honestly not)!

So besides on this forum, there's a group of us on Facebook, February 11 Disney Magic Cruise (closed group) that blessedmomofboys set up for us. And if you'd like to be part of the FE group, I'm keeping a list for that, you can shoot me a private-message here or on Fb for that. Even if you don't want to participate in the FE exchange, the group :grouphug:wants to meet in person, once we're all on-board ;).

Welcome to the group!! I had to look up "curmudgeonly " too, lol.

I've started reading a few trip reports and this is going to be a long 6 months until the cruise!!! I want to go NOW!!!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not very into or good at Facebook, but I'll give it a shot. It would be fun to meet up onboard. This'll be my first cruise EVER. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I even already booked my flight to MCO and my hotel room for the night before the cruise. That's a bit obsessive, but that's how I roll on trips. Get the logistics out of the way and then enjoy the magic. The time is just dragging. Is it February yet?

Obsessive? I laugh in the face of "obsessive".

Actually I don't think you're obsessive at all, I have almost all our pre-cruise plans set too! In fact, I started shopping for FE gifts a month ago :rotfl:.

And also, I think I'm the only one who does this, I try to get almost all conversations turned to DW mwahahahaha:rolleyes1!

FINALLY figured out the facebook link. I asked to join just now! I checked out the gift basket place too and I've put in a call to investigate what they can do for our party. I hate lugging around water bottles and wine bottles. Can't wait to head out. We're making our pre-trip hotel reservations at WDW shortly. So many choices!

Shirley at The Perfect Gift will customize gift baskets and deliver them to your stateroom. Here's a link to her site:http://theperfectgift.cc/

Hope this helps!

That is who I was referring to!! Thanks for posting the info ( I wasnt sure if that was allowed or not ;)

They were great to work with and I loved our tote bag with all of the goodies! :cool1:

I'm still trying to decide if we should come in one day or two days before the cruise to stop at WDW ... so I can't figure out what flights to book. Such are hard decision!

No backing out now!! We have all of our flights booked. :woohoo: We are coming the day before on the 10th and leaving the evening we get back on the 18th. Our flight there leaves DFW at 6:15 am! That is so early to get all of us up and out the door but at least that will give us time to make a stop at Downtown Disney and explore a little. Now time to find a hotel and rental car.

We just bought a Harley so we are doing weekend and small 3-4 day trips. We have a Disney Orlando Trip in Sept (will be there over a week) and a Princess Cruise in Nov after all that I can think about this one. I do know we will go out the day before I just don't know how many days before yet...

We are going to book our flights next week...I think that's when Southwest starts booking for our travel time. We will go for several days before the cruise, and stay in a Marriott property with DH's points.

Those of you who have cruised before, what are your thoughts about the Spa? I'd love to get some kind of body scrub and/or massage. I"ve read that you get a pretty hard product sell, but I think I can handle that.

Hi, Anja, I'm new to cruising, but I'm NOT new to massages, and I just might have to get one, even if dh does not want a couples massage on CC. His loss ;).

I want this:

Castaway Pamper package: Receive a 75 minute hands on treatment including a 50 minute massage, 25 minute facial, Rainforest Pass and end this luxorious treatment with a glass of champagne and treats. $149

I tried to cut and paste..but had to type it myself (boo hoo, poor me) It's from a January 2011 Navigator.

Me too:yay:! Is this on-board or on CC, do you know?

Castaway pamper package is on Castaway. I've done a number of the spa packages. Loved the hot stone massage. However, I find everything to be a little over priced and I really like my spa at home. Its a nice special treat though. I usually do all my spa stuff before I leave so I'm very relaxed upon arrival. In terms of massages, it isn't a great idea to be drinking and having massages since the massage is supposed to help rid your body of toxins! I love my fruity cocktails on vacation so its always a hard call for me!

We're going to come down two days ahead of time and stay at WDW on DVC points. No rental car for us. Disney will do all the driving. WhooHoo.

I agree that any massage on Disney property (along with a number of other products/services) is overpriced, but I do look at it as a special treat.

I'd rather do a massage as a treat than imbibe, too many carbs in the libations for me ;).

:thumbsup2, fellow DVC'er;)

I have never gone to the spa, but my husband always goes to get a massage (1hr - hot stones) during the 1st couple of days. He absolutely LOVES them and he comes back a lot less tense (stressful job). He has never complained or even mentioned anyone trying to sell him any additional products. If you can do it I would say GO FOR IT!!!! :cloud9:
