February 11, 2006 Roll Call

I'm planning on bringing some Valentine's gifts for our steward, server and asst server. and for councelors at the club. How many councelors would a 3 yrea old interect with in one evening at the club?

Mary so sorry to hear about you purse. That stinks!!! Gives you even more reason to relax as soon as you get on the boat.

Thanks for reminding me about the cast members. I almost forgot to bring candy for them.

I also wanted to say: I'm so excited to go on my first disney cruise that I can't sleep at night.

Ack! Valentine's stuff?! more things to bring?! we're already scrambling with the new weight limit for suitcases. i used to pack them full!! we're hoping to make it in 3 suitcases. I had wondered about bringing Valentine's for the kids too. at least in our group. or little texas souvenirs. i didn't think about for our steward and ppl though. Sigh. i feel so underprepared! both kids have colds, i have about 13 reports to finish before we leave and the suitcases are barely packed. talk about needing a vacation!

Julie - Relax - Once on the ship get a feel for what other people might be doing. You can always buys some gifts (chocolate) at CVS or Walgreens once we get to Key West - CVS is located at 12 Duval St. (Right where we get off the boat) - Walgreens is located at 527 Duval St. (5 blocks south - same block as Margaritaville).

I think I'm most concerned about getting a valentine for my son, since he'll be missing his first valentine exchange in his kindergarten class. I can't believe how close we are!!! By the way, where's everybody from?

I just found this thread. We will be there, my DH and I celebrating our 12 year wedding anniversary (it was actually yesterday but wanted to cruise over Valentine's Day!). Getting extremely excited with only 5 days to go!! :yay:

Laura

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about your purse being stolen. You weren't hurt were you? Just think in less then a week you'll be able to sit back and relax. :sunny:

Hi Liz, I'm sure that your little one must be getting excited about going on a cruise. Thanks for the update on the Valentine's cards, I keep forgetting to pick some up.

Hi Lauren, Congratulations on your 12th wedding anniversary, a cruise what an exciting way to celebrate!

Welcome Laura! Hey everybody! Thanks for sending me good thoughts. My passport was FedExed today so I should have it in my hand tomorrow. I have been so stressed! It's bad enough having my purse stolen right out of my car, but the timing couldn't have been worse. It is like a nightmare trying to do anything without my driver's license and the State of CA could care less. Unlike many states where you can get an immediate replacement, here you have to wait for them to mail it to you and there is no such thing as rushing it. Fortunately I was able to find a company that helped me get my passport, but it cost over $300. I'd love to get my hands on the little punk who stole my purse from me! I'd make him sorry. You don't mess with a woman's purse! What's even worse was that it was a brand new Coach bag that my mother-in-law gave me for Christmas. Maybe I should check and see if it's on Ebay now!

Oh well, enough of my rant. I am just so looking forward to this trip. Martini tasting here I come!

Wow, Mary, what a HASSLE! Glad it came thru though. And yes, a Martini tasting is in order! We plan to do that too.

I have my own little travail. My paycheck is automatically deposited in my account. Well they have changed the company that handles this service and as of yet, no deposit! It was supposed to be in on the 25th of last month. :furious: Yikes! May have to curtail my Pina Colada's! :sad2: We'll survive but it is very irritating...

We leave TOMORROW for Orlando and MK for 2 days. We'll see everyone at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm on Saturday!

Hey Mary-

I haven't been checking the boards lately so I don't think I was aware of this! I'm so sorry you had to go through all of this stress...can't even imagine! Glad it worked out for you.

See you soon-

Dean

WE ARE PACKED  :Pinkbounc :woohoo:
with the exception of adding the toiletries. It's a good feeling.

Also I happened to check on line for spa treatments and a slot opened up for a couple's cabana massage so I nabbed it.

Just saved over $100 on our Atlantis Submarine excursion on GC. Was able to cancel the DCL reservation (which had jacked the price up for the kids tickets), because I called Atlantis and they had a cancellation from one of their direct bookings. Was able to book on-line with them and get an additional discount plus a free souvenir (hat or t-shirt). Sounds good to me :)

See you soon!!

All this pre-cruise stress! What a pain, Mary... I'm glad you got your passport. Texas is the same way about not giving you your DL right away. And the bank problems. Goodness! Our stress is that we heard tonight that my grandmother has had a heart attack and may be in heart failure. She lives about 2 hours from me, so I will be going to visit her weds or thurs. We are waiting for tests tomorrow to see how serious things are. Right now the doctor is mostly just talking about diet changes, so that seems hopeful. We were debating leaving early for two days in MK but now we will be waiting to see if we are going at all. Please pray for the best.

Julie I am so sorry. A stolen purse pales in comparison to having a seriously ill loved one. I will most definitely keep your grandmother in my prayers. Just stay positive! I am certain the doctors are taking great care of her and there is so much more that they know today about heart problems. Hopefully with proper care and some lifestyle changes she will be fine. I am sure she will be so happy to see you.

Sending pixie dust to her and to your whole family!! pixiedust:

Thanks so much Mary. It does put things in perspective. I'm trying to remind myself of the bigger picture and not to worry about packing and work! Right now we're hopeful that it was a scare but she will recover. She seemed to be doing well tonight and will have tests tomorrow. Thanks so much for your prayers.

That might have been a depressing message to put on our pre-cruise board!! Please don't anyone feel like that should put a damper on our preparations! I was just catching up on the posts and thought I would share that in case (worst case) we don't make it on Saturday.

Should I bring a bottle for pre-boarding cocktails? We could be the envy of the ship!! Taking suggestions!!!!!

Captain & Coke ?
Bubbly?
Grey Goose packed in ice?
I prefer Van Gogh Flavored Vodkas (The espresso is awesome!! Mango??) - yum!!!!

Still need pirate costumes - oh the stress!!!!

Kids now are getting real excited!!! (and so are the pa - rents)

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope everything goes well. We'll keep her in our thoughts. Sorry about your wallet. I'm glad to see that everything worked out. Martinis and cocktails sound so great. I can't wait to meet all of you. I know a lot of people are going to wdw early before the cruise. If anyone will be there Wednesday, I can most likely get you VIP seating for the Festival of the Lion King show. Just e-mail me sometime today. Also, Expedition Everest is having a soft opening, so most days it's running for guests to ride.

Hi Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother, I'm glad to hear that you'll be able to go and spend sometime with her this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family that she has a full recovery.

Mary, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get your passport, that's crazy about your driver's license though!

Sounds like most of us are having a bit of a bad week.

We have an appointment on Friday to find out what they can do for DD's eyes as she has spots on her corneas that aren't going away, she can
end up going blind. We thought that they were cleared up and she
would just be sensitive to light, but apparently we were wrong!! :worried:

Liz, my daughter loved your picture of you in the Lion King Show how exciting it must be to have a job like that! Your son must be the envy of his classmates that his Mom works at WDW. I wish that we were able to fly in a few days earlier just to see the show!

On a happy note: Did someone say Martini tasting?? I'm definiately in. :drinking1 O.k. who am I kidding I'm in for any kind of drinking. :cool1:

Dean, great news about your excursion! You definitely have me beat, I was packed at the end of the summer but fiqured that I better make sure that the clothes still fit the kids, so I spend Saturday trying to get the kids to try on clothes and everything is layed out, I just have to repack it all. I can't believe that it's less then a week away. I'm so excited, I just can't hide it!!! :cheer2:

To anyone that's leaving soon, happy travels and we will see you in the promenade lounge or in the terminal before we board. :woohoo:

Lisa

For all of you that are relatively new to our cruise thread just wanted to let you know that we will be having a get together to meet each other at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge right before the lifeboat drill. :wave2: That way it gives the kids a chance to break the ice before going to the clubs and us adults the opportunity to get to know each other as well. We've been chatting for about a month now and have seen family pictures so we have a little bit of an advantage as far as recognizing everyone. So to make things easier, you can't miss our family. There are 6 of us that will be in matching red t-shirts with a big yellow "i" in the center for ...you know...."Incredibles" (or "Idiots") :rotfl:

We fly out on Friday!! Can't wait!
