Feb 5th - 12th 2012 Mexican Riviera on the Disney Wonder

Thinking about documents for DS7 I need to bring. Do I need a copy of his vaccination records or anything else for the Oceaneer's Club/Lab?

Thanks!

Valerie, dont really have an answer for you. . .pretty sure you dont need any vac. records, but my kids never used the clubs, so dont know for sure. But I do have to say that I am a little jealous of your countdown ticker!!! Its 3 whole days before mine!

You shouldn't covet thy neighbors ticker...

I've never heard about a need for immunization records.

When you have to pay airfare to go and enjoy stuff, you try to maximize the time you have! :woohoo: It's been two years since we've been on a vacation out of state (gee that was Disneyland too - and relatives in Texas), so I think its time!

Thanks for the responses!

Yeah the blow dryers do not give much air at all. I usually only blow dry my bangs on vaca, so it's "fine" but still it takes me FOREVER to do so. I'm bringing my own since it's 7 nights... I always forget how bad they are and then forget my own blow dryer... I won't forget this year, I won't, I won't.

On a more somber note, and in light of the recent maritime disaster, is there anything you've done differently or plan on doing?

We took the time to discuss emergency protocol. If we are on different parts of the ship what we would do. At what point we would not go back to our rooms for life vests but go get the life vests stored in the benches on deck. Keeping a waterproof floating flash light in our stateroom (I already own one). Make sure to leave colored photo copies and scans of all of our essential documents at home as well as including it in my folder of planning materials. Despite the fact that DCL no longer requires you try on your vests, we will be doing so (especially with a rather lanky 2 year old). We've also decided that we will not be dropping off DD at any clubs until she is old enough for us to effectively explain emergency protocol to her.

We will pay very close attention to the muster drill. It had better be the first night now! I dare Disney to postpone it after the Costa incident.

Nothing has changed for us. We will go, trust that Disney will keep us all safe and sound, and have an amazing time!! :thumbsup2

I totally agree...while I believe we are in good hands and will be very safe, to postpone the drill would be irresponsible.
Although I feel totally safe. my sister has been after me to make a will since I travel frequently for church business. I did pick up a Willmaker program the other day....not I have to use it.

I do hope they won't postpone the muster drill. Being a first time cruiser, I would be hopelessly clueless in the case of an emergency.

A will is an excellent idea. My husband and I want arrangements to be clear and expedient should anything ever happen.

We trust that Disney makes safety of their passengers their #1 priority (being in the travel industry for many years, I know that there are accidents, but thankfully, they are VERY rare) and in light of the recent accident, Disney (and probably every other cruise line) will be extra alert and on top of everything. To be honest, this is probably the SAFEST time to cruise.

Since we're in an inside cabin, I planned to bring a nightlight regardless...a switch from a power socket nightlight to a battery powered one is compliments of Costa...if there were a power failure on the ship, our room could become quite uninhabitable...we would have to open the door to have enough light to change clothes, and trust me nobody wants any of that to happen! :scared1: (of course there may be emergency lighting, but I'm bringing it anyway)

I will also be asking both kids clubs which lifeboat station is theirs. I trust Disney training and will instruct my kids to do what the club leaders tell them in an emergency situation, worst case we will meet on land. (then of course, as any parent would, I would go get them!)

We will look at the back of our room door when we first get to the cabin to confirm where our muster station is so we know where to head in the event of any emergency.

According to my daughter, I do that on every cruise, so I guess I won't actually BE doing anything different because of the Costa tragedy.

Thanks for the info on the hairdryer - will defo pack mine now.

Same for us will just check everything out when we get on board and make sure the kids know what to do.

I do not plan on doing anything differently. I have already talked with DS about the lifeboats (which will be visible from outside our room window) and that we will have a safety drill. I feel that Disney is one of the better prepared/safe companies.

Fish Extender participants, how are you preparing? Are you a crafter or a buyer?

I'm a little bit of both. I'd like to gift to each person, and there is no way I have time to craft 40+ items. Some of my items have been crafted, some have been purchased.

I'm still shopping for crafting supplies. Hoping to finish up this weekend. Looking forward to meeting all of you and checking out your fish extenders!

I just realized you can purchase or make your fish extender as well. We purchased ours, but I sent gradysmommy fabric that I picked out. She has shipped it. I think it is arriving this week. Can't wait to see it!

We are mostly buyers. Every time we see something Disney at any store, we check it out, and buy some if it looks good for the FE.

I saw the recent forum topic about FE gifts. Pretty good questions and answers. Looks like cheap candy is a no-no...

I am mostly a buyer but am trying to be a bit crafty!(dont expect too much lol). On the FE subject are we putting tags to say who the gifts are from or is it going to be kept a surprise!

That is left up to the gift giver. We're making tags with each receivers' name so we're putting our name on it too.
