Feb 5th - 12th 2012 Mexican Riviera on the Disney Wonder

Question of the Day: Saturday, January 14

Inspired by our very own beauty expert, Hawky7 of Sephora, what are your must have beauty supplies for the cruise. Some consider a vacation the time to look their best because of all the photos, others believe a vacation is the time to let yourself go and relax completely. What are you?

I'm definitely more high maintenance. I'm testing the GHD out right now (if it curls + straightens to my satisfaction, I'll keep it) and may be bringing it on the cruise. The usual hair products, of course, styling cremes, hair spray, Living Proof shampoo + conditioner. I won't even go into the makeup arsenal, too much to actually list. Also bringing along Red Karpet Colour, this awesome faux bronzing product. It isn't a fake bake product, so you don't look orange. It's more like makeup for your body that gives you a nice subtle bronze glow.

Hubby never goes anywhere without his Layrite Pomade (he rocks a pomp). Tehe, no makeup for him.

I'm packing DD's Noodle + Boo products as well as her leave-in conditioner/detangler. She gets bed head constantly. Also bringing a copious number of hair ties for her.

mascara is my must have!

Question of the Day: Thursday, January 19

How are you preparing for the cruise? Weight loss? mani/pedi? hair cut? laser hair removal? hollywood worth plastic surgery? a little bit of botox and filler? building up your alcohol tolerance? nothing at all?

Dh will probably get himself a fresh haircut. He swears he looks 10 pounds heavier when he's shaggy (I think he might be right). I'm going to get CND gel nail lacquar. Seriously ladies, it is so much better than the OPI gels. You can soak the CNDs off after a quick buff, the OPI gels are no better than acrylics. I have naturally strong nails to begin with. I don't want to destroy them in the process. I simply want a mani/pedi that is going to be chip-free for the entire cruise. I just can't decide if I should go with a neutral or a vintage cherry red. DD will probably insist on a mani/pedi as well. Ha ha, but hers won't come with all the fixings. She'll just get a bit of polish. I may take her for a haircut depending on how much she looks like Eloise as we near embarkation day.

How are you preparing for the cruise? Weight loss?

Trying to lose a little weight - I'm down 4 lbs despite having a McDonalds #4 meal for dinner Mon, dinner Tues, then lunch AND dinner Wed. I am trying to lose weight only so I can eat nonstop from boarding to disembarking in an effort to gain back 10+.

mani/pedi?

Not my thing...

hair cut?

REALLY not my thing!

laser hair removal?

See above...

hollywood worth plastic surgery?

Much to everyone's dismay, nope!

a little bit of botox and filler?

See above again

building up your alcohol tolerance?

NOW we're talking!! Despite having no plans for excessive drinking on the cruise, I've been all over this one for the past week! :woohoo:

loll Brent :rotfl:

Ok qotd yesterday: kinda looking forward to not having electronic stuff. even though we have bought DS6 an i-pod touch for his birthday on the 6th so suppose we will have to let him play that for a bit!

qotd today: well we all had haircuts yesterday, nails booked for a couple days before as well as eyebrow wax. Tried to lose a bit of weight but not looking hopeful - oh well never mind I am expecting to put on quite a lot more onboard!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I wish! If only! Sign me up! DEFINITELY! Does that answer them all? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I too will be getting the nails did, toes done, glammed up and hopefully lbs down! :yay: Giving up food, so I can REALLY partake when I'm onboard! I was even lucky enough to win a free spray tan recently, so I'll be using that RIGHT before we leave so I don't scare y'all with my lily white tundra-tan!!:scared1: :cool2:

Once again I think I am out of my league! :worship::worship: Oh, I had these grand plans of trying to loose weight before the trip. :rotfl2: Let's just say it ain't happening. I thinking maybe a good hair coloring session before the trip for me is about it. For DH7 I think we need to do a good close hair cut just before the trip.

Gee, it told me to post again later as the server was too busy. But when I did that the post was there.

Bad programmers, wrong error message. No donuts for them!

QotD: What are we doing to get ready?

Not too much. I will give DH his haircut. In between cruises he works on getting his weight down, so on the cruise he can eat anything and everything!! Pretty much my motto too! Isn't that what vacations are all about?

My one splurge pre cruise is to get my nails done :thumbsup2 So I will do that the day before we leave. And of course, always working on being able to wear something other then the clothes that cover from head to toe now!

Well we've been dieting for some time now. I was down 21 lbs, but damn holiday season, i gained 5 back. So that, I will get my toes done, always working on building up my alcohol tolerance. Lol. No botox for me, just my really good skin care assortment. I'm getting my back alligned, just went to chiropractor today. Standing all day does a number on your back, so I'm also doing that because i want to relax and not have my back be killing me. Other things too...

Oooh, I understand that! I FINALLY made a Dr appt to get my back checked out. Its been hurting me for over a year now  I am very active, or at least used to be, and ready to get back to my regular workout routine. Plus I want to be able to make it thru a day at DL semi pain free! Hopefully we can figure out whats going on! :confused3

are you going to the chiropractor?? If you haven't been, you should go, really does help. I'm like doc, just pop me!!! Hahahahah i heard my back and neck pop in about 15 different spots today. I expect to be a new woman by the cruise with a good 2 weeks of getting adjusted.

oh, duh! i can't believe i forgot to include that in the list.
Lol. I have a jam packed week next week and the week after getting ready, chiro on Mon, wax on tues, chiro on wed, pedi on Thurs, chiro on Friday, then the following week I am in Seattle wed/Thurs for work mtgs, work Friday then Saturday time for Vaca... woohooo

Not doing anything particularly unusual to prepare...making sure I have lots of sunscreen to keep me from lobster color...making sure I have a good supply of charged batteries for the camera(s) Watching this board for tips from the veteran cruisers...:woohoo:

WOW! 21lbs! What are you doing? (Christmas doesn't count, you'll lose that 5 no prob!)

Don't laugh... Special K Diet... Totally works. They actually have some really good stuff. You eat a bowl of cereal for bfast, then you can have one of their snacks, they have tons of different snack bars, or they have their own chips and crackers, then you have one of their meal bars for lunch, another one of their snacks and whatever for dinner, so long as the portions aren't out of control. But when we are doing good we eat a very healthy dinner, chicken and veggies. Also, you can eat however many fruit and veggies you want a day. So I almost have an apple or orange everyday. Alot of people are like how do you survive off a bar for lunch, but really you've got the snack before and after lunch, and you can have any fruits or veggies, not so hard. I lost like half that weight in just under 3 weeks. It's crazy. I need to get back on it. ASAP. But work is still stressful currently ( not as bad as holiday) so I haven't fully gotten back on it... Just partially.

Just got the same response! Looks like between being squeaky wheels and the tragedy in Italy, they have rethought the first day's activities!
