Feb 5th - 12th 2012 Mexican Riviera on the Disney Wonder

Nothing new for us . . . 9th DCL cruise, kinda been there on what we need. And we have never needed any of the extras like the power strip or over the door hanger. I can see how they can be a help for some people tho! And I am not a make-up kind of gal. More of the sporty type, but because of my size (over 6') I do like to try to look feminine. My problem is I've never learned HOW to do the make up thing! Maybe I will need/take some lessons from all you experts!! :worship:

Oh, and the GHD straightner?!? What and where do I find one of those?!?

Question of the Day: Saturday, January 7 (yay, it's my birthday! yes, that's right, when you write a question a day, you get to plug your birthday :-p)

Are you making any special purchases for the cruise?

We're making quite a few. 1) I've never been on a cruise 2) This is my longest vacay ever, seriously, workaholic here 3) DD first real cruise!

We're purchasing some of the items we've seen recommended (extension cord/power strip, over the door organizer, etc). Purchased DD a trunki to keep her entertained at port and so she'd feel like she had her own suitcase. A new, inexpensive waterproof camera (this is the first time we've spent so much time next to water). I've been using it as an excuse to update the wardrobe. With my weigh fluctuating so much being pregnant, and then post-pregnancy, I almost stopped buying clothes for 2 years. DH was like, you lived in those black maternity yoga pants and that god awful green sweater (it was freezing!) and then those 3 dresses during the summer. I'm not even pregnant yet, and every time he sees maternity clothes on sale, he pushes me towards the rack. Apparently, he does not want a repeat of last time. We also purchased a few small Disney themed gifts to wrap up for DD. We're going to tell her it is from Mickey and Minnie to welcome her to the ship. Boy, i do love it when they're still gullible :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDA!! hope you are having an amazing day!! I look forward to meeting up with you at disneyland sometime this year. :)

Ok I have some catching up to do. I don't get on this site often. Facebook is best for me.

December 31 : Do you have a New Year's resolution? I usually go overboard on resolutions, super detailed and all, but for the first time I'm keeping it simple, just be a Fun and patient Mom. My DH is going to school for his MBA so I just want to be supportive through being a great mom since i'll be spending a lot more time with them.

January 2 : What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?
HOT! high 80's all week. Cooling off this weekend for sure.

January 3 : Do you have main seating or late seating for dinner? Main

January 4: Are you bringing drinks on board?

yes, water :) lots of it. And wine.

January 5: What excursions has everyone booked? Has anyone booked non-Disney excursions?
We haven't even discussed this yet yikes i gotta hurry!!

January 6:What kind of heat are you packing? Of course I'm talking about shooting photos, not people!

Sony camera, cannon power shot, My cameras have video on it but will borrow a friends flip camera and my phone.

January 7:Are you making any special purchases for the cruise?

Yes, I need to buy a dress :) I also want to buy our kids towel hooded robes. And that over the door organizer is a great idea linda!!

And about the FE, I already bought everything for the gifts, but i'll see what i can do? if its possible. i welcome everyone that new to the board. i'm new at this board blogging too. But I will try my best i just know it's getting busier until the trip. Look forward to seeing everyone!!

Ahhhh now I want both! I can get both from this shop. It's called Cosmoprof. OMG you should have been in town for December. They had a sale all month where the ghd (the exact same one from Sephora) was under $100!! And I had a coupon, spend $60, get $10 off.

Ha ha, I just took a friend yesterday, and I have to go back next week. DH tried my Living Proof large bottle with a pump, and now he wants a pump for his shampoo and conditioner. They're sold out of his till next week.

Seriously, if you have time post-cruise, save some room in your luggage, you're coming with me to Cosmoprof! Hair and nail goodies galore. Hair and makeup lovers need to stick together :-)

Ohhh yes, we will need to go!!! Not sure what our plans for post cruise are, but if not then, we'll be back in social soon enough. I def need to go there!!!

I'm IN on this one girls! My DH got me my GHD for Christmas and I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!!
:rotfl2: soooo amazing right?!?! People are like I'm sorry you paid what for a Straightener...thing is, it doesnt ruin my hair like the crappy ones. I looovvvveeee it. And love the elf reference too!!!

DVCTigger....we'll see eye-to-eye!

First of all.... Happy Birthday to Linda!!!!!
Hope you have had a fabulous day fellow-Capricorn! We'll celebrate our birthday with a toast in a few weeks!

QOTD: Buying anything new....we are in desparate need of flip flops for the kids. Probably going on-line for those as we are in the same cold neck of the woods as kripler! We're all set otherwise. Oh, maybe one more bathing suit for my DD. Can't wait!!!!!

Question of the Day: Sunday, January 8

Who would be interested in an early morning port meet-up? This is in addition to the official DisMeet/FE Meet. I could make some tour guide like DCL themed flag to make it obvious where to meet. I know a lot of us either 1) will arrive early to attempt to upgrade at port or 2) have early check-in times. I'm assuming most are arriving between 10:30-11:30 so perhaps we could start gathering around 11:30-12:30.

I think that's a great idea Linda! :thumbsup2. We have an 11:00 arrival time, but plan on arriving at the port by 10:30 :yay: We're all BFF's now, so why wait til the 3:00 meet up? Let's start mingling and get the party started!!

Well, I'm way behind on participating in this thread ~ but I've now read it all!:)

2012 questions/answers:

Ok I have some catching up to do. I don't get on this site as often as Facebook.

December 31 : Do you have a New Year's resolution? As always, I'd like to lose weight and exercise more. Rejoined Weight Watchers yesterday as a first step towards that "new me" (but I like "current me" too!) ;)

January 2 : What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Surprisingly nice weather for the Toronto area! We have had minimal snow so far this year and daytime temps are hovering in the low 30's.

January 3 : Do you have main seating or late seating for dinner? Main

January 4: Are you bringing drinks on board? Probably not ~ I'm more of a "drink of the day" gal ... and may order a bottle of wine at dinner for a couple of nights. I love how your wine can be recorked and follow you to the next restaurant instead of having to drink it all in one meal.

January 5: What excursions has everyone booked? DCL's whale-watching excursion booked in Cabo for Thursday afternoon. No plans for Puerto Vallarta ... probably just relaxing onboard that day, with a little shopping near the dock possible.

January 6:What kind of heat are you packing? LOVED PrincessSophie'sMom's comment about being Asian!!! My husband's carry-on bag consists almost entirely of electronics and chargers! (Yep - he's Asian! :rotfl:) Sony HX100 camera, Canon power shot waterproof, Sony slimline waterproof, Sony videocamera, netbook, ereaders, ipods, etc.

January 7:Are you making any special purchases for the cruise? Clothes (of course!) for my 15 year old daughter. She has new dresses for both formal and semi-formal nights.

I'm really do get on Facebook more than here ... Could someone send me the link to join the Facebook group? I don't WANNA go back through the last 20 pages! :surfweb:

Four weeks to sailaway!

I'm with you guys! :cool1:

Hi!

I still have not booked shuttles or hotels! Starting to get worried, but could use some advice.

If we go to knotts berry farm for the day on the 12th, it looks like the shuttle will be about 80 dollars from cruise port to the park and then another 80 dollars from the park to the airport. Youch! Any suggestions?

Thanks
Danielle

I'm glad to see there are so many that share my affinity for Elf culture:santa:

Can we setup a bar and make some drinks at the port and have a pre-boarding happy hour?? It's 5:00 somewhere right?!?! :)

What about getting a rental car... Look on expedia. For just the day it wouldn't cost you probably more than $50...
