I just went in a played around w/ our dates of stay (2/2-12) and still nothing but a couple Deluxes (can't remember which) available. However, if I go in and do 2/2-2/6 and then 2/9-2/12, pretty much everything is available. It looks like it is the weekend dates that are blocking out most of the resorts.

I don't know if anyone is still trying to get those dates, or if we have all been on there "playing" (like me ) just to see how booked things are, etc- if someone is actually looking for dates around then, and wanting a value/mod/ or other deluxe, I would maybe call them directly and see if a split stay would be possible. Maybe book your hotel of choice for the first part, go into the higher priced one for the 2 days over the weekend (even though it will probably be above your original budget) and then move back to the resort of your choice or another one in your price range.

Right, that's what I figured. I guess my point was that the original concern of over crowding @ the parks is probably not really a concern overall around that time.

The 40% off pin codes and 4/3 are awesome deals for consumers but I was thinking this morning how it could totally backfire for making a good trip...way too crowded most of this year

I am on the 4/3 even though we are only there for 5 nights (we're only getting 1 free...had already booked our air & dh couldn't get the additional tme off)
I reported earlier that I got the 40% pin code... Our dates are Feb. 5-10, but POR was not available w/ the pin code. Only hotels still avail. were Saratoga springs & Old Key. Not sure what your dates are, but I see early Feb. for POR.

FYI,
We are 2 adults, standard room at POR, 1 day base tickets, ddp. $1200.Plus we get the $200 gift card.
With the 40% pin code for the same dates, (same stuff)1 day base tx, ddp, but staying at a studio at either OKW or SSR it was $1500 plus no $200 gift card & penalty fee.

Forgot the other place available was Yacht & Beach club which were alot more $. We've stayed there in the past, but their pool (which is awesome) is closed for rehab. Not sure how warm it will be this year. Last year we were there the last week in Jan30-feb 5 and we were doing water parks
I didn't want to spend all that $ for Beach Club and not be able to use the pool. Plus we are going with my sil and her family & they are staying at POR

I'm staying at the YC the week before most of you all and sent an email to our concierge person.(can't think of the proper wording) and they stated the pool is open. They are doing sections of the pool and right now it is the slide. The rest is open. Also, he stated that we would also have access to the BW pool and slide if we wished.

Well I am a little disappointed to see that the cheerleading competition will be going on that weekend. I had done my best to try to book when I couldn't find any groups scheduled for...guess I somehow missed that. Hopefully people are right that the parks won't be too busy as a result. We are going with our toddler and I was hoping to go at a time that would be a bit quieter for her. Oh well, it will be nice to get away from this cold weather and snow regardless...and I am sure she will be amazed no matter when we go.

I have heard more than once that the parks are still not that bad. The cheerleaders are pretty busy at competitions, etc so while the hotels are full the parks aren't generally so bad. ((here's hoping this is true!))

I called to finish our adr's and spoke to an agent about our room reservation @ POR for Jan25- Feb1. the agent said that almost all of the cheer leading guests are booked at the all star resorts and some like parents and friends at cbr. the agent laughed and agreed with my worry about a bunch of cheer party teenagers. She said no way she would want to be at the resort they have booked out for her vacation.

I hope ours goes as planned.

There is also a huge field hockey tournament at DWWS that weekend. This will have little or no impact on the parks as the tournament is exhausting, but that might be also why the resorts are filled up.

Just a thought..... We were there a few years ago and all the resorts were filled up. So as we got closer to our trip we began to worry about the crowds. Come to find out there was an INTERNATIONAL homebuilders convention going on and the resorts were full. However the parks were great. The homebuilders even had their own buses so they didn't take any seats on disneys buses. Just because the resorts are full doesn't always mean the parks will be.

We're at CBR during the cheer competition every year and it's never been an issue for us at the parks. The food court at OPR can get a bit crowded at times, but most of the time the cheerleaders are much too busy practicing and competing to increase park crowds. The cheerleaders do have a few preplanned park visits, but it isn't that noticeable.

I also noticed the POFQ food court was busier than normal the week in Dec 2007 I was there.

I hate to say, and cheerleaders and parents please don't take this the wrong way.....but I almost feel Disney should let people know when they book several hundred cheerleaders at a certain resort ? But I'm sure there are reasons for not devulging that info. But I think alot of people would appreciate this info before planning their vacations.
