feb 3-11 sell out

Just noticed they changed their park hours since I booked our adr's.. bummer!

Now....
M.K. is closing at 8pm every night (they were open till 9-10p)
H.S. is closing at 7pm every night (they were open till 9pm)
Epcot is having illuminations on Fri. Feb. 6 at 8pm intead of 9pm. (good thing our dining is planned for 4:40 that night!)

What does crowd #'s mean...of 656? We were planning to go around Feb 9 for 6 nites, are you guys thinking its going to be really bad? I can wait till end of Feb , When does spring break start? I was looking for the thread on "busy times" and couldnt find it, if you have a min, could you send me a link?

Another reason it may be crowded Valentine's weekend is that the Daytona 500 is the 15th and I'll bet if people can't get rooms in Daytona Beach...some people may book at Disney and do dual trips.

We are one of those people going to the 500, but for the week of the race we stay in Orange City. Staying way down by WDW is too long of a drive becuase I-4 is always a huge cluster clunk. There could be some who plan a Disney vacation and just go to the 500 on that day.

We will spend a day at Disney the monday after the race.

1st week doesn't seem too bad yet. We'll be there 2/1 till 2/5 and I checked online and could still get any resort/ any type of room I wanted.

From what I hear, that cheerleading competition is there over the weekend...not before 2/5 and not after 2/8 or 2/9...so I'm thinking towards the beginning of the week (monday +) might be a lighter crowd than over that weekend.

When I looked up openings for Feb 9-12th, there seemed to be a lot more openings. Maybe it's just the weekends that will be bad. We will be arriving at the resort on the 7th around 1-2 in the afternoon and leaving Friday the 13th around 3 pm so hopefully we'll only have to deal with larger crowds on Sunday the 8th. We have an ADR at Chef Mickeys on our first night so our park time will be limited that day anyway. Maybe we'd be better off just hitting DTD and exploring our hotel that 1st day.

I don't think the parks will be that bad, but the food courts at the resorts will probably be pretty packed over that weekend!

We were there last year at the end of the Cheerleading Competition and it wasn't bad. We saw a lot of the girls at Hollywood Disney on the following Monday but none after that.

This is a website you can subscribe to. It gives touring information etc.. Or they post the crowd calendar about 30 days prior. This explains a crowd calendar... with what level a "6" and a "5" would be.

We are going 2/2-12, and I had noticed that more and more of the resorts were booking up for that time. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous about crowds- we always go this time of Feb. to avoid crowds while our kids are not old enough to have to take out of school.

However, I have a couple of thoughts on it (and hope I am maybe right, and the crowds will be "normal" for this time of year). Absolutely no basis for these, not wanting to start any rumors, just my own thoughts on the matter:

1) Is it possible that a resort(s) closing/shuttering rumor could be true and that they have quit taking reservations so that they can begin to shuffle the current reservations around? :confused3 :confused3 I know that POP is rumored to close, well, even if it was 60% full, that would be a lot of rooms that would have to be used in other resorts.

2) Ok, so maybe all of the Disney resorts sold out w/ the good promos- but where does that leave off site hotels? The 4/3 package was only good for onsite ressies, so it is quite plausable that Disney hotels were able to "steal" ressies from people that normally would save a buck or two off site (Like my family ;) ) So, how crowded would the parks really be if Disney properties are full, but maybe other area hotels are WAY down on bookings? (Which we have no way of knowing)

Just my 2 cents- hoping for my typical low season vacation in a few weeks........

Disney resorts are close to 90% full, year round---low or high crowd conditions, doesn't matter---Disney just discounts until they can manage to fill the rooms. It's the offsite hotels that tell the real crowd story.

That week in particular is popular especially at the Values and Mods, because the bargain hunters are catching the last week of Value Season before Peak Season rates hit.

The parks will not be anywhere near "busy". But, neither will they be empty, because they never ar.

I so hope you are right. I have to believe that you most likely are considering the economy and that there are no school breaks that week.

Hey Guys and Gals,

We are going down feb 8-13th. I just checked online and found I could easily find rooms for that time frame. in two of the Value resorts and a few of the Mods. I didnt even check the Deluxe. I think the posts are right. disney Makes sure they stay pretty full in the hotels. But even with that the case I still am finding openings. Some times the longer the stay the harder to find rooms. A lot of the Value and Mods are 5 to 7 day stayers so when you are looking for more then that it can be hard to find openings.

Just my thoughts.

The deluxe resorts haven't always been running at 90% occupancy levels at all times throughout the years. We've been at the Yacht Club where the occupancy rate as been as low as 20% and loved it. It all depends on when you go and what time of year it is.

Disney came out with all the specials because according to our local news the occupancy levels were down.

I am staying at Coronado Springs this year, hope its quiet there.;)

Just because all the Disney resort are full does not mean the park must be crowd. On a crowd day, there would be more daily theme park drive in guests than Disney resort guests. If drive in guests are low, then there shouldn't be too much to worry.

I booked my Feb trip 3 days ago. It took us 2 hours to get it all square away. It was quite a workout. ;)

We'll be at POR Feb. 1-8 and I'm hoping things won't be too crowded. Like everyone else, we chose February because it's supposed to be a quieter time of the year. However, as others have said, there are limited numbers of rooms with the deal and it is always possible that Disney is "closing" a certain # of rooms/floors/buildings at resorts if they are anticipating not making their goals in order to save money. This could make it seem like things are more booked than they actually are. I'm just crossing my fingers that it's at least quieter than the other times we've been.

The Touring Plans site ranks crowd levels on a scale of 1-10 based on the wait times at the major rides in MK. 5s and 6s aren't bad IMO. Not crazy-crowded, but busy enough that you'll want to use Fastpass. With crowd levels of 3 & 4 on our January trip, we only used FastPass twice in 12 days. With 5 & 6 crowds in August, we used it for a lot of the big-draw attractions (the MK mountains, Soarin', etc). but still didn't spend much time waiting in line.

That's something really important to keep in mind. Even if every Disney resort room is full and there are no special events like sports competitions or business conventions that fill rooms but not parks, the parks will not be crowded. Disney is excellent at running discounts that convince people who would otherwise stay offsite to consider Disney resorts instead, but that doesn't mean more people in the parks. It just means that the people who are there are spending more of their money with the Mouse.

Okay, if anyone can help with this please do;) ....We are currently searching for reservations for the first or second week of Feb. i am now wondering if we should wait until the very end of Feb????:confused3
When does spring break start?
I read in a Disney book that the end of Feb is really busy,,,is this true?
I do not want to be there during daytona 500 (feb 15) we did that one year and it was really busy, also presidents week though.
Any of you all that could give us some advice, our family would be grateful:hug:
So first weeks of feb 1-13 we have available or
last week of feb even first week of march?
please w/b

I was just checking on the Disney website, and it appears that there are openings at all the values and most of the moderates for Feb. 3rd - Feb. 6th, and openings for at least two of the values for Feb. 8 - 14th. :confused3 So, it looks like the February 7th is the only day that they're all booked up. It was the same way when we booked a few weeks ago.
