FEB 2014 Anyone else going?

School vacations in the Northeast are usually Presidents Day week (Feb 17-21). Usually WDW is at its peak in crowds, second only to Christmas.....is it not like that in DL? We are WDW vets and wouldnt EVER consider this week to visit the World. We travel a LOT to WDW but every few years like to journey to DL. We really love DL, and this year purchased DL APs. We will be there next week for MHP, and I was planning on trying to go out for Presidents Day Week in February. I figured it would be a madhouse but figured we'd deal with it and could always just enjoy the resorts if too crowded. Am I understanding everyone correctly....this is tradtionally not a hugely crowded week? Are schools in the West often on vacation around this time? Or just have a long weekend?

Apparently it is only the weekend that is busy at DL, not the whole week (like WDW). I booked with DVC points, and I was SHOCKED the points go up to a higher season the Sunday after Presidents day, at the Villas of Grand Californian. They almost double. I expected that to happen a week earlier, like at the WDW resorts. So I booked Monday (presidents day) -Sat night, we leave the day they jump up...on Sunday the 23rd.

I cancelled our original reservations and am postponing my daughters birthday celebration to the 22nd - 25th. So we will be there during Dapper Day. I suggested we just wear our service dress uniforms but now my wife wants to dress up like a 50s style couple so I guess trying to save $100 on our hotel just cost me more in clothing. Sometimes a guy can't win :confused3 :goodvibes

At least this gives my daughter a couple extra weeks to try and make that 40" mark.

Got my Dapper Day reservations at the DLH and plane reservations into SNA on Southwest. All set to go, but just got a wrinkle in my plans. My project manager just offered me a week in Hawaii to present a paper at an ocean sciences meeting there. Of course, I'd have to leave on Dapper Day Sunday. What a conundrum! What a great problem to have! :cool1:

We've done February and January the past two years and have had awesome trip. Our February trip had one rain day and it was enough to keep a lot of people out but we poncho'd up and hung in as long as we could. I think it's a great time to go if you don't mind the shorter hours and less rides open. We have little ones, so we're ok with those things.

I too was surprised that this week is reasonably low. We Are heading down the 15th checking out on the 22nd...SSR is our home resort & I was able to score a studio @ 7 mos. out, So we are super excited...1st trip here as well...Hopefully the weather is warm....:confused3... See ya down there..LoL:cool1:

The rates are good for the resort hotels between Feb 17-28, which is quite generous!

The rates are as follows:
GCH = $225
DLH = $184
PPH = $169

The only thing you have to do is go through the dapper day website to book the room (www.dapperday.com). There is no conference etc, but there are fun events and of course, dressing up if you want to, but none of that is required.

Those rates are great. We have a family of 6 and it looks like the rooms are for parties of 5 or less. Are we out of luck?

My boyfriend and I will be going February 4-6! I think we're staying at the Grand Californian. We're going to spend a couple of nights in San Diego afterwards, too. I still need to look for a good hotel there, though. Can't wait! :donald:

We're going Feb 15 - 22. I've been looking at refurbishments...

Looks like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed now through Feb 14.
Club 33 will be closed all of February.
Alice in Wonderland is rumored to be down in early 2014 for refurbishments.

Link which rumors Alice in Wonderland refurb:

Alice in Wonderland: Expected to close early 2014 to install permanent safety railing on outdoor ride portion.

Anything else anyone has heard?

Add us to the list of those going in February. :) We will be in the parks Feb. 24-28. I am so excited to get this trip all planned out. This will be our first time going in Feb. and I am a bit worried that one of our favorite rides might be closed for refurbishment though. Hopefully the crowds will be low and will make up for anything that might be down.

We're also going in February! We used the Dapper Day discount to stay in the Disneyland Hotel. I'm looking forward to people watching and am optimistic about Big Thunder being open!

We just decided today that we're going in February! We're planning for the 22nd through the 26th. I can't wait and the kids are SO excited!

I just booked flights and the BWPPI for Presidents' Day weekend. The children have never been to DL and I haven't been since I moved away from SoCal in the late '70's. :banana:

I am so excited. I just booked also. I have always wanted to stay at the Grand and now I am AND I get to have fun at Dapper Days!

How do you get the dapper day discount. I didn't see it anywhere on the website?

I just booked GCH via Dapper Day rates - super excited! I did however call Disney Conf reservations instead of doing it via the Dapper website. I just wanted to make super sure it was 'real'. And it is!

I too asked ticket prices. This is what I learned. 3 day park hopper tickets are $198 for kids and $211 for adults. You can either add them to your reservation and pay when you get there or beginning in December, you can buy them on the Dapper Day site.

For those that are interested, you can call 714.520.5005 for conference related inquiries (even though Dapper Day isn't really a conference).

REALLY hoping to go February 12-17 with my 13yo and 8yo. They have a little school break at that time, so won't miss much (just parent teacher conferences -lol)

I have DI&S booked, but nothing else so far. Watching Disney packages to see if anything good happens there. Too early for Dapper Day rates. :( Would love to stay on property, but probably not this time.
