The polls are closed and the results are in. It was a spirited contest and all candidates fought a hard contest. I'd like to thank all those that participated. Well, everyone except the person who voted for Soarin. Really. What were you thinking?
Before we reveal the results, I'd like to mention one particular candidate, Expedition Everest. The Forbidden Mountain received one write-in vote which is remarkable considering it wasn't even running when the polls first opened. I've heard good things about this one and I believe we'll be hearing more from this candidate in future elections.
I'd also like to mention the spirited Indiana Jones Adventure campaign. This candidate received three votes and made an early strong showing. Lawyers from the Orlando district, however, files a motion to have Indiana Jones disqualified. Their argument consisted solely on the fact that Indiana Jones Adventure was a
Disneyland attraction not a Walt Disney World attraction. Before the suit could be brought to trial, the Indiana Jones campaign voluntarily dropped out of the race.
And now, on to the results!
We will start with candidate queues that received only one vote each. In no particular order they are
Haunted Mansion, Mickey's Philharmagic, The Great Movie Ride, and Soarin.
It cannot be expressed strongly enough the disappointed experienced by the Haunted Mansion camp. While not really expected to win, most analysts expected a stronger showing. An anonymous member of the campaign said we really did not generate enough excitement within our own base. They're dead after all.
In another surprise, Soarin' actually received one vote.
Six attractions received two each. Also in no particular order, they are It's Tough to Be a Bug, Muppets 3-D, Buzz Lightyear SpaceRanger Spin, Star Tours, Rockin' Roller Coaster, and Space Mountain.
Two attractions received three votes. These are Splash Mountain and Test Track. Controversy surrounded the headquarters of Splash Mountain campaign just hours after the final polls closed. Brier Lawyer, the lead attorney representing Splash Mountain complained that the voters representing Muppets 3D crossed primaries to vote for Indiana Jones Adventure therefore eliminating the possibility of advancement for the beleaguered Splash Mountain campaign. An anonymous source, known as Brier Deepthroat, has provided this reporter evidence to support these disturbing accusations. It has been further revealed that not only did a concentrated effort to thwart the Splash Mountain election exist deep within Muppet headquarters, but that these unidentified Muppets also forgot to vote for themselves.
And on to the final attractions in this election season filled with ups and downs, rumors, drama. Ladies and gentlemen, it appears that no one attraction queue has managed to gain a majority of votes. This surprising result will lead to a run-off election. Normally, a run-off consists of two campaigns. This time, however, we have three attractions that will participate. Two of these attractions each received ten votes each and neither of these attractions will be a surprise.
These attractions are Pirates of the Carri bean and Tower of Terror.
More surprising than a tri-candidate runoff is the identity of the third candidate that will participate in the run-off. This candidate received six votes. It is a candidacy that has long suffered from the apathy of a public longing for the thrill and excitement of many of the incumbent attractions. It is an attraction often missed and rarely mentioned during the pre-election hype. This attraction is
Kali River Rapids.
Who will win?
Will is be Pirates of the Caribbean? Will the Hairy Leg vote once again show strength in numbers? Will the reserved and loyal base put aside their differences over a controversial movie tie-in? Will they show the Disney world that POTC is still the GOP (Grand Old POTC)?
Or will it be Tower of Terror? The TT base is young and energetic. They have shown that they are willing to take chances. Although he TT faction can be fanatical at times, they have shown to be united enough to carry them to victory. Representatives have quietly reported that once victory is in hand they will stop calling themselves TT.
Or will it be the dark horse candidate Kali River Rapids? KRR will most likely form a coalition and attempt to fraction the vote thereby ensuring an unlikely victory.
Only the results from a run-off election will settle this. So what do you say DISers? Do your duty and let's settle this. You have three choices: Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, or Kali River Rapids.
Now if we can only figure out how Soarin actually got a vote...
