Does anyone else remember seeing The Thief of Baghdad on TV in the 70s & early 80s? It was on on Sundays a lot. I don't remember much about it except that a blue rose got mentioned a lot, but I do remember we loved this movie as much as the Wizard of Oz. Anyone else?

Watching the Wizard of Oz every year. It was like, THE night of the whole year.

But when those feet rolled under that house, it freaked me out in a big way.

Still does.

I remember when we LIVED for the Wizard of Oz to come on. Boy, I would hide behind the rocker when the Lion roared at the beginning.... :) LOL.
I don't remember the thief of bagdad at all....

Definitely Wizard of Oz.

How about the Gidget movies! I used to love those.

I can actually hear it right now. First the lion roaring, and then the DUM DUM DUM DUM... and then the overture. All in black and white. So dramatic. Woo. Nothing like it, even now.:teeth:

I would never watch the Wizard of Oz as a kid. The witch always scarred me so I always went to my room when it came on. :o

I remember the Thief of Bagdad. I always loved the adventure movies. Errol Flynn Robin Hood, the Black Hawk, the 3 Musketeers, the Man in the Iron Mask. pirate:

Loved, loved, loved nights when the Sound of Music came on! Julie Andrews is brilliant! Recently went to the sing-a-long event at an old movie theatre- had a blast!

Also loved Escape from Witch Mountain and The Parent Trap.

(Had nightmares that the Wicked Witch of the West was perched at the end of my bed waiting to attack- no more Wizard of Oz)

Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, Gone With the Wind.
Once for a birthday party Mom and Dad rented a movie projector and a couple movies...actual films as this was before we had a VCR...one of the movies was The King and I...I really loved it.

Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. Can you tell that I LOVED Julie Andrews? Still do, actually. I had the SoM soundtrack and I'd run around the house (at 7 years old) singing all the songs on the soundtrack at the top of my lungs.

Animated Film: The Sword in the Stone. Loved it.

The Wizard of Oz is my ALL TIME favorite movie. My mom used to joke that is was the only 2 hours of peace and quiet she got all year ;)

Oh! And Willie Wonka, that is a close second. I wanted so much to get a golden ticket too!

The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music (still my favorite!), Snow White, and Grease!

Oh cripe!! Showing my age here.........

does anyone remember Thomasina? I loved that one...that and Pollyanna.

Wizard of Oz was a favorite too but it scared the doody out of me so I watched it from behind the couch.

My friends and I used to watch Dirty Dancing and Grease every week. If they came on TV, we had a phone chain to alert everyone.

I also loved Willy Wonka, The Parent Trap, and KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. I couldn't get enough. I actually watched the last one every day for several months. (It's about the rock band, KISS.)

I wasn't a big fan of The Wizard of Oz. It was too scary. I know the witch was evil, but it didn't seem right for the munchkins to cheer her death. (They seemed like little kids begging for it!) In addition, I felt so bad for Dorothy. During the tornado, I hated the woman on the bicycle. "I'll get you, and your little dog, too." The whole movie is just too creepy.

::yes::  And don't forget Tyrone Power as ZORRO!

Every year my brother and I would see "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't" at the movies. We loved that movie. Funny thing is that when I watched it as a grown up it was a pretty lousy movie. LOL

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Apple Dumpling Gang movies. They were all favorites of mine as a child, but then came along Star Wars! I spent many an hour trying to harness "the force" but to no avail. I guess I just wasn't jedi material. Now I wish I still had all those Star Wars figures I used to play with, they're probably worth something.
