Favorite 'famous' Chefs?

Another one for the old PBS cooking shows here. I loved watching the classic, one and only Julia Child. I started watching her when I was a kid; my mother couldn't understand why I liked the show :confused3 ;)
I always liked her sign off...

"This is Julia Child...Bon appètit!"

After that, I liked watching Jeff Smith, "The Frugal Gourmet".

Giada from Everyday Italian.. I have both of her books and love her recipes. Also Bobby Flay, have a couple of his books. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if he even has a show on anymore, but I used to really like Jamie Oliver, The Naked Chef

Back when I did have cable, I loved Alton Brown.

Now that I just have basic, boring network tv off an antenna, I love Gordon Ramsey when I can see him, and Ming Tsai from the PBS show Simply Ming.

I like Molto Mario. My favorite iron chef was the original one with Todd English. As for the next food network star, I thought that Nathan would be a finalist. I missed his elimination episode-what happened? Based upon the last challenge, my vote is for Guy.

I love Emeril!!!

He used to be on at 10pm my time and I watched him every night when I would go to bed. Now he's on at 11pm my time and I don't see him anymore :guilty:

Do you all use these guys for ideas? That's my main concern and Bobby Flay is certainly the guy who cooks to what I like to eat the best...I agree that he can come across kind of irritating at times. I got a Caribbean Pork Tenderloin recipe from him that has become a family fave...I also use a Chimichurri ribeye recipe thats mouth watering.

I like Michael Chiarello because I like his laid back, cook for friends and family attitude.

I'm a Food Network junky. I watch way too much.

I love Paula, Ina (The Barefoot Contessa), Michael and Giada. I also enjoy the pastry competitions. Really, I love just about everything about the Food Network.

I'm a food network lover too. Rachael Ray is so popular in my house. My 14yr old son will stop gaming when she is on. He even made her Not-zagna Pasta Toss, and it was AWESOME! And my DH LOVES those crescent roll popovers.

I like Paula, Giada, Ina, Emeril, and Sandra. My Mom's fav was Sara, but I just can't get into her at all. I also love any of the shows that show how things are made or done. I love the challenge shows too...those last cakes were amazing.

As for who I voted for...I really like them both, but I picked Guy. His cooking is just more like what I would make. But I'll be happy if Reggie is the winner too.

I watch the Food Network all the time and love just about all the chefs, Bobby, Alton, Giada, Rachael, Paula, Barefoot Contessa...

Emeril - I know I am about to go out on a limb here - but - is there anyone else who does not care for him? I am from New Orleans and I do like to hear him talk about New Orleans even though he is not originally from there. But I just can't watch him anymore. It just seems like it is the same ol thing. I think it is time they moved him from the nightly prime time slot and put someone else in or maybe have different shows on nightly. Maybe they could give him 1/2 hour some place else. Mom and I have both tried some of his recipes but they never come out. Years ago, I followed one of his recipes exactly even though the amount of one of the ingredients seemed odd. The dish came out HORRIBLE. I even wrote him a letter saying there was an obvious mistake with the ingredient. I got a letter from his office and since then I have been on his corporate Christmas card list and get a very lovely Christmas card from him every year! :rotfl2: I've also been to his NOLA restaurant in New Orleans and I just didn't see what all the fuss was about.

P.S. I love K-Paul and I miss Justin Wilson, too.

Gotta go with Todd English. We have eaten at a few of his restaurants and have never been disappointed (BlueZoo). :thumbsup2

Rachael Ray & Alton Brown are my favs!!! :) I'm a Food Network junkie too!!!

Rachael Ray was the one who inspired me to throw out my take-out menus and start cooking. I also love Alton Brown!
