So we are getting ready to make our FP+ reservations for our trip that is scheduled for July and I just encountered a snag and I am hoping someone has suggestions or advice.

We have two kids, our Son who is going to be 6 and who will be able to get on some of the rides that are 40" and over for the first time and our daughter who is 3 and who is about 38" tall. So our question is how do we work the Fastpasses for that. I know that she will need to get three Fastpass+ just like everyone else. But the way I am looking at it currently we are either going to have to book Fastpasses for her that she will not be able to use, or we will have to split up and have two of us go on the 40" or taller ride and two will have to go somewhere else. This is obviously a real bummer because my wife and I both want to be able to see my sons reaction to some of these rides for the first time and we obviously cant send my 3 year old daughter on rides by herself. It sounds like we are going to have to split up, but I wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone has any suggestions or if Disney does anything for families in our situation that I am not aware of.

Thanks!

Split them up 2 for the under 40 crowd and 2 for the over 40, but when checking into the over 40 be certain to get a rider switch pass so who ever is waiting with lo will be able to go again with the older child. Sure the older child won't have the FP for the littler rides but if you scheduled them at the same time as the big ride... Ie drop dh off with older child at BTMR and get rider switch pass and then take LO to pirates FP at same time. Then later you can use that rider switch pass. I believe there is no specified return time on it. DS is 43 inches so no more switch passing for us..... He is only 3 so I'm a bit worried about how he will do on TOT and I don't think I will let him on space.

Just to clarify, my DD4 is over 40 inches, but would't be tall enough for say EE or RR. Would we be able to get a switch pass for those rides? I'm in the same position where I don't think she's ready for TOT or Space:confused3

So if you do the rider switch pass the child can ride twice? Once with both parents?

I took my DS on ToT last summer (he was 4) and I thought- we'll only do this once. He loved it and drug us on again. Depends on the kid as to how they'll react. He enjoyed it more then us.

Rider switch is for families that have a child that is under the height restriction. Everyone will need to go to entrance when the CM sees that there is a child too small to ride they will hand over a rider switch pass.
I went last month with DD, DSIL, and DGD1. I booked FPs as follows
Space mountain DD & me
BTMR DSIL & Me
Splash Mountain DD&DSIL
Speedway DD&DSIL (DGD could ride this but I didn't get FP for me)

On the mountains we got rider switch passes

If child is tall enough they will not give rider switch pass. Only for rides that the child is smaller than height requirement.

OK, that's great news, thanks for the information. We have never had to use the ride swap before and I always assumed it meant that one parent rode with the child while the other waited with the smaller child and then when the switched only the waiting parent was able to go on the ride by themselves.

book her FP+ for something she can ride later in day. Use up your FP+ early in day then get your extras with the ones she already has.

Thanks:) I wanted to know about the big rides and make make sure the switch pass didn't stop at just 40" no matter the ride.

I thought this, too. It'll be great not having to go by myself or miss the"fun" rides:cool1:

My DD4 was scared if the Pooh ride and Peter Pan last year:scared1:, but loves roller coasters and thrill rides:confused3 She would love the drops, but I think the library room alone would terrify her! :rotfl:
