They are not separated by child/adult. However, you may only order what your card says so if you have 2 adults and one child and you attempt to order 3 adult CS meals they will tell you you have to order a child's meal and can only order 2 adult meals. I hope that made sense!

Thank-you. I know it was like that last Sept, too, but wanted to see if maybe Disney changed it so they wouldn't have to keep track on their own. I'm planning on showing them the KTTW card as well as receipts to explain the dining plan better to them.

I've read some posts say that kids were offered to order off the adult menu at some CS locations. I have a 9 year old who will tire of the traditional nuggets and kid food real quick. If you had experience being offered an adult meal for a kid CS will you please post the restaurant name. Thanks!

We leave on Saturday so I'm getting excited but a little anxious about the meal plan

You cannot use a child's credit for an adult meal at any location except those few places that don't have a kids menu. They are:

That may be Disney Magic in specific situations. Disney's policy is pretty clear that kids credits must be used to redeem kids meals when a kids menu is available.

Add in Casey's Corner and these are the "last ones standing" of the menus with no kids options. So yes, your kids will pay with their kids credits but can order whatever is on the menu as there is no alternative.

Not sure if Friar's Nook is still there with the expansion works, but they don't do full-on CS meals - or I don't think they do. I only recall grabbing a quick beverage or snack there, but could have overlooked other options. If this is the case it wouldn't matter as kids and adult snack credits are one and the same.

Friar's Nook showed having a hot dog (with or without chili and/or cheese), a caesar salad w/ chicken, or a chicken parmesan sandwich.

That's good if there are still those locations. My kids are not burger kids. They like nuggets, but only so much. Thank heavens they don't really go for fries, either.

Trying to work out some better options without upgrading them to adults.

I've been planning for quite some time for a trip from August 18-22 and just recently they announced that they would be doing the free DDP. That pretty much sealed the deal and I want to book it now before resorts fill up.

My question is, do I just book it without a Disney DDP and they'll automatically include for me? Or are you supposed to add say... the DDP plus dining and they adjust your price?

I plan on staying at the Carribean Beach Resort because the Coronado Springs Resort is out of standard rooms for those dates.

You need to request it when you make your reservation. Also note that you can only get free dining on a package (room, ticket combo) and you must pay rack rate for the room. You can not have any room discounts in addition to free dining.

When talking to them, tell them you're booking the free dining package -- you don't get any package discounts without asking for them. Remember that free dining will be in lieu of any other potential discounts.

For more expensive deluxe/villa resorts, I found that it is much cheaper to take the 40% room discount (only on certain dates - till Oct 2) instead of a free dining plan.

i have a 10 year old * 3 and 7 year old. my 10 year old does not eat very much.

Everyone on your reservation has to either have one of the dining plans or not. There is no flexibility in this as everyone in your room has to have the same plan. What you can do is to save up his TS credits and pay OOP for his kids meals (he can order off the kids menu) and then use those credits for an extra ADR. In terms of CS meals, how well do your other children eat? The kids portions are quite small so you may find that 2 kids meals and your DS adult meal shared betweeen them go a long way. Or, you could pay OOP for him to get kids CS meals and use his adult credits for breakfasts to share at the foodcourts (or anywhere else you fancy).

When you are on the dining plan a table service restaurant gives you a paper with 2 separate allotments tallies - 1 for # of adult meals left and 1 for number of child tallies left.

Do they break it down that way at a counter service restaurant?

Children CS and adult CS credits aren't tracked separately. They basically just look at your "2 AD 2 CH" on your keycard, and only allow you to order 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals at any time. All CS meals just come out of the combined CS total.
