FAQ - 2010 DDP, DxDP and QSDP Everything you always wanted to know

It's per night. So if you stay 6 days and 5 nights, you pay for the cost of the premium plan times 5. :goodvibes

This is my first time doing research on the dining plan and I wanted to ask this question to make sure I'm following the rules. We've got two rooms (separate reservations) at POFQ in December with four adults (by Disney standards) in each room. Most of us aren't big eaters. If we were to get the QSDP for one room only (so 4 adults), would it be possible for us to each get a QS meal and then split those meals with the other 4 in our party?

I realize it would be wrong to order more than our alottment (ex. 6 QS for a lunch) for a meal by having two people from our room go make separate orders, but the first thing doesn't seem like a problem since we're ordering our allowed amount of food and then sharing it with other people. Like I said, I don't want to break the rules which is why I'm asking.

If you don't want to break the rules, then you can't do what you are proposing. The dining plan brochure outlines Disney's guidelines, and it states that entitlements aren't to be used for those not on the dining plan.

Purchasing meals with the intention of feeding those not on the plan would technically be breaking the rules.

Sorry I don't have better news.

We would like to eat here for our CS credit one day---but when I looked at the kids menu --the ONLY choice was a Smuckers Uncrustable PB and J---which one of my children would gladly eat, but my DD only likes peanut butter no jelly---however all 3 of my kids would gladly eat a turkey or ham sandwich...has anyone gotten anything else here for kids or were you able to substitute anything??? DHS doesn't have many options I am finding...

No, you can't substitute anything or get them something from the regular menu if they're on the kids' plan. The only child's menu item available at Starring Rolls is the Uncrustable sandwich.

okay, i've searched the forum and I haven't been able to find the answer to this so forgive me if it's already been asked.

I'm visiting in 2 months with the deluxe dining plan. This is the first time I'll be using the dining plan, ever. I understand it pretty well (and, thanks for mentioning that side dishes aren't included, btw!!) but my question is about snacks.

It says that a snack is a snack food or a 20oz coke, powerade, etc.... So, this means you get a drink OR food? Or, does it mean that you get food with a regular size drink in a cup with ice? Is it just the bottles that would replace your snack food? We usually buy the bottled drinks when we're at disney so we can recap them and drink them later. Some clarification on this would be awesome! Thanks!

One snack credit can be used for one item, drink or food. You cannot get both a drink and a food item for one snack credit. (The only exception I can think of is cereal at food courts, they will give you milk to put on the cereal)

If you choose to use a snack credit for a drink, you can get either a capped bottle or a fountain drink, your choice, anywhere these items are available.

Thank you!! I'm glad we got the Deluxe dining plan so that me and my husband can get 2 drinks in a day! I'll have him get the drink with his credit and I'll get a food with mine. We'll share :lovestruc

I know the deluxe dining plan has a lot of food so this might not matter to you too much. We are signed up for the regular dining plan in August. We are planning on buying drinks out of pocket and getting more expensive snacks/sweets with our credits. There's an updated list on this thread that shows all the yummy snacks you can get with your credits.

In addition to bottles and fountain drinks (and remember you can get a large!), there are many places that have smoothies and shakes as snack credits.

The question above was specifically about bottled versus fountain drinks, although those are not the only choices.

In previous years travelling we were allowed to exchange certain credits for an equivalency of another (i.e. 1 counter service = 3 snacks)

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, do you remember what the conversion was?

Conversion was as you stated above, but reports are varied on this and it comes down to the general advice of it depends where you are and who you speak to (and what time, how busy it is, if it is free dining .....) You get the picture. ;) In other words if you need a precise answer, it would be "It depends" or "sometimes" or "maybe". :goodvibes

You have nothing to lose by asking but I certainly wouldn't try and conserve meal credits in the hope of redeeming them for multiple snacks.

Thanks for the response. At least I know sometimes the magic still happens. :goodvibes

Three of our party of 6 will be in conferences all day. So, a portion of the meals/snacks will be wasted if each person 'has' to use it. However, the other three can get their three meals a day and their snacks (cause I would gladly share). ;) My question was for the 'just in case' we dont use everything.

Thanks and have a great weekend! :goodvibes

On our last day of our May 2009 trip we went into Captain Cook's at the Polynesian (our resort) for our final lunch. We had lots of unused snack and some cs credits. The manager was extremely helpful. She knew that for the surplus credits we could only handle food that would be allowed on the airplane. I remember getting several rice krispie Mickey heads dipped in chocolate and some uncrustables along with something else that I can't remember now. Our granddaughters were happy and I was pleased that we were able to add to the treats we took home to their younger brother.

As mentioned above, it depends on who, when & where you ask. That manager was very kind to us.:earsboy:

this august, i will be on site for the first time and hence will be doing the deluxe dining plan for the first time.

two questions:
1.) you say that the 'regular' plan doesn't allow appetizer/dessert substitution. but, does the deluxe allow this?
2.) i saw the snack list - but, aside from carrying this long list around, how do i know (at a particular eatery) what is considered a snack?

also, how do you know about the logistics of the plan such as my question 1 above? will they send me more info on this after i check in? thanks.

1. The deluxe includes appetizer, entree and dessert. Generally there is no substituting a dessert for appetizer and vice versa
2. Rule of thumb is that anything $4 or under is considered a snack. There may be a few exceptions but few and far between.

The only caveat to the $4 and under is that it must be a single serving. So if it says "fun to share" then it's not a snack credit.

Snack credit items almost always have a little purple and white symbol by them (their price) Like on the menu board below:

Can you tell me where that menu board is from? DGD just saw it and thinks she HAS to have that cotton candy flavor burst! :rotfl2: TIA
