Dear team, as an avid listener, and UK resident, I feel it is my solemn duty to try and enlighten you all on the UK in general, it's residents, our "funny" English accents, driving style and how we've slowly dragged ourselves into the modern world. I hope you find the detail below helpful. :thumbsup2

The UK.
We once ruled the world. Now we don't. We struggle with that a little. :confused3

Residents.
Britain still runs on the class system, best explained here.

Accents.
Probably the most loved accent is the scouse accent, which is particular to the city of Liverpool. ( Where the Beatles came from ;) )

Our roads.
We do indeed drive on the right. In cars. Below is the A40, a main road into London and a typical English road. No " 7 lanes " here Julie. :lmao:

Below is a typical English car, for sale on a dealers forecourt. It's superbly suited to our roads.

Pete/Walter. Your description of an Aussie breakfast prompted me to find a picture of your typical Englishman's morning fare. " A fry up " . None of your pancakes and syrup here, just good hearty grub.

Finally manners.

Over hundreds of years, the UK has honed our expected behaviours to a high degree. Below is an Government information film, broadcast earlier this year, showing an example of a typical UK dinner party, how to behave, and how not too.

I hope the information above has helped, in some small way, with your understanding of our little island, off the shores of Europe. Maybe we'll see you over here sometime? :goodvibes

I thought most of the nation hated our accent, as well as most things to do with our city...

:goodvibes

Oh, I hadn't realised it was a link to the hilarious Harry Enfield sketch, nice one, having to bite my Tongue here but thanks for keeping a wonderful negative stereotype going and sharing it across the pond

hey how do you think it is for me.....our dads from liverpool and me mams from barnsley.....i dont stand a chance

This is very cute thread. I meet up with some friends from the UK every year in WDW. I can understand the wife but the husband - I have no idea what he is saying. You'd think I'd be able to understand. It's english afterall. We do have a bit of fun on our pronounciations of pecan and pasta that led to much laughter.

The UK.
We once ruled the world. Now we don't. We struggle with that a little. :confused3

Excuse me this was only those that believed in the British Empire. You will find that the Celtic nations shared no such problem ;)

Love the breakfast picture. I could never understand the appeal of beans and tomatos for breakfast.

I had to laugh at Pete and Walter's descriptions of the food, I thought exactly the same thing my first time in Europe, runny eggs and beans.

Makes me proud to be a brit. HAHAHAHAHA:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Here Here!!

Then again, I just spent a lot of the last week complaining about American food (esspecially your chips (crisps), you need a good packet of Walkers or Hoola Hopps out there, and don't get me started on chocolate!) I much prefer a good old Sunday Roast which my father lovingly provided after our flight. :goodvibes
