**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Has anybody researched what the crowds should be like at the parks after the cruise? We are trying to figure out what to do on Saturday & Sunday before flying home on Monday. The kids kind of want to do Magic Kingdom, but we have been there several times & are planning on going in 2013. I am leaning towards spending those two days at Universal because we have never been there & likely our 2013 trip will be all Disney.

I am curious as to what to expect at the parks. It will be a holiday weekend, so I expect them to be busy. I also saw that Thunder Mountain will be closed, so we would miss out on that & I would think that would make the waits for Space & Splash Mountain even longer.

Hi,

My daughter is a Cast Member at The Magic Kingdom and my son in law at Animal Kingdom, so next time I speak to them I will ask what they would recommend. It may be a a day or two due to the time difference, but I will get back to you. I do know it is Star Wars Weekend at the Studios, that is very busy but great if you're a SW fan. If you aren't I'd stay away from the Disney Studios.

If you've not been before, The Harry Potter area of US is amazing.

See you soon,

Elaine :flower3:

Well, the possible became the probable. Pam and I have to cancel the cruise. My 84 yr old father was diagnosed with terminal cancer a month ago and given a prognosis of about 6 months. I guess that's what said when the doctors don't have enough information for a better guess. Yesterday his doctor said one month. To make matters worse, Dad is the primary caregiver for his wife, our stepmother, who is in the middle to late stages of Alzheimer's Disease. We have our hands full now for the next couple of months.John

John: So sorry. My family is not participating in FE, but I still say a big big thank you for all your work and diligence. Walt would give you a big kudo. Take care,
Scott

Thank you. I will be checking in here at least once a day for the next 21 days. :goodvibes

None of us are Star Wars fans, so we will be sure to stay away from Disney Studios. Hopefully that will pull some of the crowds from other parks.

Considering it's going to be Memorial Day Weekend, with the Star Wars Celebration... I'd suggest staying clear.

Staying clear of what? Just Disney Studios or all parks in general. We are going to have 2 days & will do a theme park for sure 1 day if not both. Just trying to figure out which one will be best for us. We may even decide to do Disney Quest or a water park as we have never done any of those.

Man, can't believe we never thought of which weekend is disembarkation. We have a real late flight, so plan to spend 1/2 day at animal kingdom. Have ressie at tusker house for lunch.

Wondered, do the parks have a people limit?

Take care, see you around the boards . . .
John

John, no, I am so very sorry to hear this. I was so looking forward to meeting you. You have been an awesome contributor to the boards and the work with the FE....well, I am really bummed.

That being said, my heart goes out to you with the circumstances you are facing. I will keep you and your family in our prayers and hope for the best under the circumstances. As someone mentioned before, hopefully our paths will cross again. Take care.

Hi Everyone! Remember me? Yes, we are still cruising. My houseguest left today and I finally have a moment all to myself. It was a tough month with another family in the house, especially working from home but it was nice to see them.

Now, trying to catch up, so many new people!!!! Welcome!!! :cheer2::cheer2: My apologies for not welcoming you all personally. I am worried I am back to square one with names again so please, sign your post with your name if you think about it.

Jamie - I am with you. I woke up this morning and realized, only 3 weeks until we leave for Florida! :scared1::scared1::scared1: To say I am unprepared is putting it mildly. I am hoping to catch my breath first, and then dive deep into cruise planning. So many things still to do.....still need to buy trip insurance if it is at all possible, complete FE gifts, draft the packign list, shop for the items we are missing, plan the park visits post the cruise, etc., etc....enough to make me just panic!!! Ok, deep breath, it will be ok.

My update is short but promise to be more active now that I am solo in the casa and hopefully have more time. I have been reading though and Jen, so sorry to hear about your injury. Stinks. I hope you heal quickly!!!!

My son in law is a cast member at The Animal Kingdom, he said that the AK is usually the quietest park, :thumbsup2 even on Public Holidays. There is a capacity limit for each park, but the AK did not reach this on Christmas Day, :santa: so it's unlikely to the weekend after the cruise.

I have just spoken to Elisa, she advised that the Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are usually quietest. She also suggested if you do want to go to the Magic Kingdom, get there really early, then go back to your hotel for a rest/meal/swim around midday, then come back in the early evening when the crowds thin out.

See you soon,

If it is within your budget, I would highly recommend going with Universal & staying on site. Universal hotel guests get early entry to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter & their hotel key acts like a fast pass for most of the rides. (with no limit on the number of times you can use it).

Holiday weekends can be tough, but we have done two Christamases at both Disney & Universal and had a great time. As mentioned, the trick with the Disney Parks on Holidays is rope drop. If you want a more relaxing theme park experience, stay on-site at Universal.

I'm not familiar with wristband sizing and was wondering if the above lengths are the maximum size of the wrist or the actual size of the wristband?
I just want to make sure before I pick.
Thanks,

I was wondering about the sizing, too. Child's looks really small, unless it's a size of the wrist.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I'm so sorry that we can't make the cruise because although we haven't met yet, I was looking forward to having a drink or some social time with you guys. I'm sure it's going to be a blast.

We made plans last year for the May 25th, 2013 Western Caribbean Cruise, so maybe we'll get to see some of you on that one.

Take care, see you around the boards . . .
John

Sorry to hear that and your family is in our thoughts. We were looking forward to meet you, too.:sad1:

i am planning to order wristbands on monday. we have had an anonymous donor offer to pay for them. i am not clear if they mean just for the FE or for everyone so for now, EVERYONE participating in FE please list sizes based on the measurements in post #1923 so i can get the order together.

i will post as soon as i know about everyone else. if you want to pay for them and are not participating in FE (and haven't posted yet) please let me know if you want wristbands and what size(s).
