Thank you so much for the link. I think I will try it tomorrow. Wish me luck!
You're welcome. I saw it in the magazine last summer and have been wanting to try it for a year now. Are you going to do Mickey or something else? Good luck! Please post pictures when your done. :sunny:

Well I think we are going to try it this weekend. I'll pick the stuff up this afternoon. Wish me luck!!!!

I have a question for those of you who have made these shirts.....has anyone ever used a colored shirt rather than white? I bought lime green shirts and was going to use orange/black paint on them as we will be wearing them for the Halloween party. Do you think these would look okay or should I just go and buy white shirts? Opinions appreciated!! Thanks.

I suspect that orange dye on a green shirt would look brown. You can try it and see what you think. Maybe do one and check it out?

If you used orange paint and paint it on with a brush, a couple layers of paint may still look orange however.

But thick paint would be stiffer than a thin layer of paint or dye. Stiff paint tends to crack and not only the paint cracks, but also the shirt so it gets holes in it. But, nothing lasts forever, so have fun making and wearing them!

Whatever you do, let us know!!

I'm going to try to do an outline of a hibiscus flower on my shirt. Still looking for a good picture of one to copy though. So far I've found these:

That's a cool idea. I was trying to come up with something unique myself and haven't decided yet either.

DS10 might put this guy on his shirt:

Or maybe a gecko.

I like the guy though a gecko would be cute too! I'm going to be at Girl Scout camp for two weeks and we always have tie-dye both weeks so I'll have an opportunity to test some different things.

I bet you could make a silouette of any favorite character. Draw it on paper to see if a swirly inside makes a Pooh still look like a Pooh, or whoever you want it to be. The color of paint could help with the identity also.

Someone further up this page posted a photo that looks like :tinker:

Have fun!!

That was me!
Cinderella's coach and Tink

Sorry it's not bigger. Cinderella's coach on the left and Tink on the right. Very easy to come up with custom designs, just do a search engine on images for the cartoon you want. Keep in mind that it will be a sillohuette (sp?), so don't look at the over all picture, look at the outline. I could email a bigger pic to anyone who wants them. Just PM me. It was so much fun! I'm trying to find a Brier Rabbit for my DH. :thumbsup2

well I am just now posting my pics

just after I made my Mickey head:

Awesome pics Good Ol Gal!The shirts came out fantastic! :thumbsup2

I plan on doing mine tomorrow it the weather in New York ever clears. I wanted a nice dry, sunny day to work on them outside. :sunny:

Thanks for sharing! :)

I love all these shirts! You people are so clever! I made a set for my 4 kids, and my 6 nieces and nephews for our trip to DL last year. They turned out great, and my kids still love to wear them. The colors haven't faded, and they still look great after too many washes to count.

I'm doing something new with the idea and I hope it works out. My daughter is having an ice cream social for her birthday party, and for goodie bags, I bought some small canvas tote bags. Today I'm doing a design in flour and water paste of ice cream cones on the bags and I'm going to let them dry all day and overnight. Tomorrow, when the party starts the girls are going to spray them any colors they want (I've got about 8 bottles of different colors). We'll let them dry and then peel off the paste (I always use plastic knives to get it off). Then they will fill them with the stuff from the party.

If they turn out, I'll post some pictures.

I just completed my Mickey head one. Instead of spraying it, I did what another poster did and painted with a brush with Tulip glitter paint. Mine is green, purple and gold. Turned out great!

:woohoo: CLEVER!!! :woohoo:
Sounds like a wonderful :yay: party project. Let us know how long it took the paint to dry :sunny: , how the
girls liked the project  and how they felt about cracking the dry paste  off the totes.
