What is there for famillies to do? I have DD3 and DS7?
IS it worth taking bus from Pop to there??
Thanks In advance

There are jumping water fountains where they can get wet and kids like to see em, as do adults, lego land where they can play and climb and make lego stuff for free (an dthen you can buy some if you want, but not required),a train thats about $1.00 to ride, look thru the myriad of stores including Rainforest cafe where you can see BIG fish in huge tanks inside (free to walk around and look) and they have cheapo stuff too (in addition to the typical overpriced) If not eating in there (my son likes it, not really my fav but we did have a great time last trip with the volcano ice cream) you can sit at bar which has really funny silly animal chairs (tigers and such with long silly tails) that kids love and grab a soda. There are of course, popcorn stands and ice cream and all that yummy stuff too.
If you haven't seen it and have 2 hours to use, why not.
Have a great trip whatever you choose!

We usually go twice. The day we arrive it's a good way to get some exercise after sitting in the plane for 4 hours. It's also our first 'hit' of Disney - we eat dinner at Earl of Sandwich, enjoy the entertainment and window shop. Usually one evening after a 'light' park (a water park, DHS or AK) we'll head over. Again, usually for dinner at EOS, the boys (DS(10), DS(6) and DH(43)) enjoy spending some time at Disney Quest and I get the chance to shop. It's just a nice place to wander if you don't want to do an evening at a park and you want to do something other than swim at the resort.

We took the bus from POP one morning and did some shopping/walking around. We're not big shoppers and our kids don't ever ask for souvineers, so each kid bought their souvineer for the trip (we didn't buy anything in the parks), we bought some pins, stuffed a box of Potato Head pieces, got some lunch, and took a few pictures.

Worth it??? YES!

We only went (alotted) for a few hours. We didn't get to see everything :(. Definately scheduling a day for DTD next time.

We went last year, DD3 and DS10. It is really cool to see some of the grand displays. We didn't buy anything and the kids still had a great time there looking around.

Is Earl of Sandwich on the dining plan? If so, is it a TS or CS and do you have to make ressies?
TIA

I think the train and carrousel are now $3 each. Dd loves those for some stupid reason. LOL! I plan to make a run over just for Earl of Sandwich sandwiches one morning (yes they are on the DP and they are counterservice)
They also have the World od Disney store there which is so cool. I doubt we'll go to spend time there this year, but we have spent a couple of hours the last two trips. They have a bibbidi Bobiddi boutique there too.
I guess it depends on your time, but if you want some leasurely time of strolling and looking for a few hours, I say go for it. Lots of shops too.

I definitley think it's worth it cuz it's free and Disney related :) Kids love to see the Lego area.. there is a McDonalds... a merry go round and a great shop to get ice cream :) And..the biggest Disney store can't go wrong!!! :goodvibes

EOS is on the dp...and DTD is worth the time..I love the Lego land, items made from Legos, the different little shops...Ghiradelli has the best ice cream!!!! Don't miss that for sure:)

Yes...Yes...Yes...

I don't know if I love Downtown Disney more of my 6 & 8 year old boys.

Top 3 things to do in DDD

1. Lego store
2. Goofy's candy store
3. Worldy of Disney store
4. Earl of Sandwich...my favorite place to eat in all of WDW
5. Pin Trading place...pins for everything...love this place

Okay so I could not limit it to 3:goodvibes

It is sooooo worth it. It's one of our favorite parts of the trip. A nice, RELAXING, Disney feeling afternoon. We also enjoy Earl, but this trip discovered Wofgang Puck Express (also CS) and was blown away. We went back a second time. That food is amazing and for a CS???? WOW!

Your kids will love it there, mine do. We went twice and would have liked to have gone longer. They love the fountians, the shops, Goofy's Candy Shop, BBB (and the princess room, pirate room for boys). It is such a great place!!!

DTD is one of my favorite parts of the trip we start there and end there. Our DS was 9 months when we went and he loved looking around at everything he like all of things in the shops and the CM's are so nice. We grab a drink of choice and just walk and sit by the stage and unwind it is amazing.

It's CS, no ressies, but it can get busy. It's one of our favorites as the sandwiches are yummy - even the picky ones can find something they enjoy ! Nice outdoor seating as well !

We have fun there too! It's really fun at night with all the lights, and shopping in WOD is fun for everyone! I wouldn't waste time at that McD's though, I would say it's the most expensive McDonald's I have ever been to! Much better deal at Earl for much better food!! Ghiradelli's or Goofy's are fun places for yummy desserts and there is the discount store where everything is like $10 or under. Some resorts have boats to take there too! We usually go the first evening we are there, it gets us in the Disney spirit w/o paying for a park!

There is tons for the kids, but I always treat myself to something from Basin....No one would go in there with me on our last trip so that made it a little better because I didn't keep hearing "can we go now?" and I had plenty of time to browse.

:butterfly

Haven't been in Basin, though I've heard great things about it. I've never been able to convince my DH and 2 DS that they need to go in ! This next trip I'll have my mom and my sister in law with me so we'll go together !

We always go on our first day (arrival day). We do dinner, this year it's T-rex, then browse the shops. We're going to try hitting Disney Quest this year, although we have never been on a Saturday night before. It may be packed!

We have always enjoyed DTD. We normally go the night that we arrive and then once more before we head home. My kids love it and I do too. The Christmas store is one of my favorites. :thumbsup2
