I have a couple of questions because I'm at a bit of a loss...any advice would be
greatly appreciated!
I applied for the Media Relations internship which starts this June. It's been about three weeks since I applied for it.
My husband and I are planning to move down to Orlando at the end of May because he has been accepted to UCF. I will be graduating with my Bachelors degree at the beginning of May.
I'm starting to wonder if I should apply to the College Program just in case I don't get the PI. I'm so confused on what I should do.
Can anyone help me get un-confused

?
Thanks!
Take this advice with a grain of salt. Everyone has different experiences, so I will share mine with you.
The CP, as far as a career or management opportunities, is a waste of time.
The only way I would ever suggest a CP if you are looking for a future with Disney is if it is required for the PI that you want to do.
Being so close to graduation, I am sure there is no way that you would want to settle for a minimum wage job, was is pretty much all full time at Disney is.
I have seen PI , after PI, after PI...be offered a full time statused job within Disney providing they did a good job. They may have had to go full time while awaiting their statused position, but generally it didnt take too long.
There is a MASSIVE difference in working for Disney at $6.67 - $7.50 an hour, or making 34k-36k a year. As a college graduate, you should aim your sights higher than minimum wage.
Doing the CP doesnt even give you a leg up in the company. You are seen as 1 of 1000s of college students working for sub par pay...and they see about 5k-7k of you a semester. Even if you stand out on your program, it doesnt help you.
The PI , on the other hand , is a way to professionally develop yourself. In my field, you would be put in as a front desk manager and get all the training and experience you need as a manger. By the time your program is over, you can say you were a manger at Disney world with tons of responsibility ...etc...and if you choose to move away from Disney, you have a great resume builder.
Not so with the CP. Every job the CP has is an unskilled trade. Anyone and everyone that wants to apply off the street has the same qualifications that you do to perform those jobs. Disney is constantly hiring non stop year round to continue to keep these jobs filled, and as such, you are just 1 more cast member among millions doing an unskilled job.
I dont know what criteria Disney uses to select its PI personel. I personally know of 3-4 people that meet every desired and required critera for their respective PI and not gotten selected, whereas I have met quite a few PIs at my work location that dont meet much of the critera that they post they want.
Everyones experience differs, mine is no exception. I can state from past experiences down here that there is no rhyme nor reason on why some people are selected and some are not.
