When we were at WDW 6/7-6/14 we had an interesting encounter at Space Mountain. We got to the park on our last full day at about 3PM. We headed straight to Space Mt. to get a fast pass and the time that was available was 8:45-9:45. We took it, went on attractions, ate dinner at the plaza pavillion, and came at about 8:50 to get on the ride. The CM took our tickets and then took a good look at them and gave them back to us and said, "I'm sorry, these aren't real." And we were like "WHAT?????" I said we got them at three this afternoon and he said he was sorry he couldn't let us on! I mean, we were flabbergasted because it sounded just so ridiculous. I look at him and in disbelief and said, "You mean people actually counterfit these?" And he replied that the Space Mt. CM's have been told to look for fake tickets. Ours were somewhat faded like the ink was running low in the machine. DH had a problem with the machine, but it eventally spit them out and I didn't think anything of it. He also pointed to something with the size of the time numebers and said fake ones are usually larger like ours were. He then must've believed us because he let us go. How weird!
I guess I don't get why you would make fake tickets, but I'm sure if there were people counterfitting the Subway stamps and selling them on Ebay that it takes all kinds!
