Fake fast pass tickets??

When we were at WDW 6/7-6/14 we had an interesting encounter at Space Mountain. We got to the park on our last full day at about 3PM. We headed straight to Space Mt. to get a fast pass and the time that was available was 8:45-9:45. We took it, went on attractions, ate dinner at the plaza pavillion, and came at about 8:50 to get on the ride. The CM took our tickets and then took a good look at them and gave them back to us and said, "I'm sorry, these aren't real." And we were like "WHAT?????" I said we got them at three this afternoon and he said he was sorry he couldn't let us on! I mean, we were flabbergasted because it sounded just so ridiculous. I look at him and in disbelief and said, "You mean people actually counterfit these?" And he replied that the Space Mt. CM's have been told to look for fake tickets. Ours were somewhat faded like the ink was running low in the machine. DH had a problem with the machine, but it eventally spit them out and I didn't think anything of it. He also pointed to something with the size of the time numebers and said fake ones are usually larger like ours were. He then must've believed us because he let us go. How weird! I guess I don't get why you would make fake tickets, but I'm sure if there were people counterfitting the Subway stamps and selling them on Ebay that it takes all kinds!

Thats crazy!! Everytime I get on Space Mt, the cm's barly glance at the fp!!

Space Mountain is the only spot last trip (April) where they actually looked at our FP's my DBIL and DD were turned down as there pass was "old" (from the morning when we didn't make it back). My DBIL said they really looked at it carefully, wonder if that is connected in someway

The OP didn't think they were fake, just the CM who didn't see them get them earlier out of the FP machine.

Are you saying that WDW didn't honor an expired fast pass for earlier in the day? I know that there is an expiration time and they could turn you away, but I've never heard of them actually doing it!!! Very Interesting to know!!!

She only gets to do it when we have others on vacation with us as I am tooooooooo chicken to ride and don't let her ride on her own. They begged and pleaded and they still were not allowed.

2) I had always wondered how easy it would be to fabricate.
3) Might have to try harder.
4) If they can fake money, why not Fast Passes?

"Psst! Wanna buy a genuine Fast Pass?"
He raises his sleeve and exposes different passes for different rides.
At least they sure look like the real thing!

I don't see how it makes that big of a difference to FP. I've looked at the FP patent and it's algorithm allows for only a FEW people (like 1/40th or something) to get a FP for a specific time and even then it's based on the current time too. Even if counterfieted, it still wouldn't allow for a total meltdown in ride line times. Maybe 1 minute at the most. It is rediculous to even check for counterfeited FPs because by the time you finish checking, the wait is longer than it would have been if the FP had been forged.

I can see checking for money but FPs have no financial value to WDW. They can't lose money by forged FPs. Plus, who would want to forge a FP? With a good touring guide or a good idea of when rides are the most crowded, you could probably do more without a FP than people sometimes do with them.

Unfortunately, we were aiport bound so couldn't wait on the 80 minute stand by line. Fortunately, she knows there is always a next time and that makes a good reason to need to come back

They do have a problem with people making fake fastpass tickets and selling fake fastpass tickets on Ebay. Its not that hard to understand you could make fastpass's for any times you want and as many as you want. They are on the look out for fake fastpass's.

I guess I don't understand why they would have set the fastpasses up the way they did...

You enter your park ticket and get a slip with a time on it, they record your ticket information. This is so you can't get another FP and another and another.

If that is the case why don't they have a fastpass machine at the FP entrance to read your ticket similar to the turnstyles at the entrance? You go up enter your ticket (for which they have already recorded your "reservation" on) and you are either "go" or "no go" for the ride.

Would save the cast member from having to judge whether something was real, what the time was etc. No lost fastpasses...keeps everyone honest.

yep, happened to us 2x at 2 different parks. But one of those times, we tried again with another CM once the one who refused us switched posts. The second cm, who had seen us get turned away (must have arrived at shift-change??) let us on. This was at MK. The second time, dh didn't even bother to try again.

as I live and breath!! I'm telling you these people should just spend this much time in energy in ligit persuits - they are genius'!! Honestly, I just dont think like a criminal... however, I was very suspicious of the person who posted on the Dis wanting "old" FP, thinking why on earth would one want to collect .... now I know!! Yep, ebay!!
