The current fast pass technology uses a heat sensitive paper, that turns black where hot pins (remember the old fashioned dot matrix printers) hit the paper. In addition the paper is glossy.
A CM can narrow down on the authenticity of a fast pass by heating a corner with a lighted match. (If he burns it up completely he really should let you in the fastpass line.) Yes you may try this at home, pressing the bottom of the flame down is a little easier to do without igniting the paper so quickly.
