Hi folks - Which in-room child service would you use - Fairy Godmother or Kid Nite Out? I have heard only good things about both services. I called Fairy Godmother and it sounds like a home-operated business. I am not sure how reliable that is.

Thanks!

We've used Fairy Godmothers a half-dozen or so times and been very, very pleased with the sitters. It is a home-run company, and has been around for a lot of years (one sitter said about the time WDW opened in 72!)

Kids Nite Out also gets great reviews. It's more corporate, and a bit more expensive, I believe. But some folks like the more organized sense of it....sitters wear official shirts, have paperwork, that sort of thing.

I've never used either. Kids Nite Out is the WDW "sanctioned" in room babysitting. I believe they have a contract with WDW - so use that nugget of information for what it's worth ;)

Fairy Godmothers are excellent, all female and mothers, many grandmothers even, themselves. I've heard Kid's Night Out can sometimes be college students? I'm sure they are both excellent choices.

We've used FG twice and will use them again this December. They are bonded, insured, licensed, etc.

I have used both and had good experiences with both. Kid's Night Out was a little more expensive, but they all seemed better organized to me, I would use either again. I think Kid's Night Out is easier to schedule at the last minute.

We've used Fairy Godmothers multiple times. Liked much better than the Disney ones! Call and ask for VIVIAN. She has sat with our kids at different ages form 9 months to 11 years. We started using them in 1999 and have had only wondrful experiences.

Do you have to be staying at a WDW resort to use the Kids nite out? And where would one find info on that? Thanks

I wasn't going to post anything about this when it happened, but now, since you've asked (and based on some of the OPs posting)............

A week before we went down in Sept, I called FGM - first I got a "one moment while we access that Nextel (wireless) customer". OK, maybe I dialed the wrong number. Phone rang, older lady picked up (in my best Marge Schott impression) "yeh, hello......." I immediately apologized and said "oh, I must have dialed the wrong number". "Who you calling?" I told her FGM, and she said that was her and she thought it was her son calling, so she didn't answer "FGM". I paused for a second, said "never mind", and hung up.

I debated for the rest of the day as to whether to call her back - maybe I just got her at an "off time". I went back and consulted the Disney Bible - the Unofficial Guide and chose Kids Night Out, based on website and association with Kindercare. We had Ms. Kristie and she was fantastic! I highly recommend her, and in fact, am recommending her to my BF, who is going down in Nov.

No flames please - I'm sure that FGM is wonderful and that their people are warm, loving, caring women. If KNO had said "no, we're booked" I would have called FGM back.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't see any reason you should get flamed for sharing something that happened to you. I do like FG and recommend them, but they definitely are a SMALL, home-based operation. Someone mentioned that they weren't Disney's official choice. I honestly don't think they could be, way too small and no where near automated enough (no website, no office, etc). First impressions are important, and if you didn't feel confident in who you picked based on that impression I'm sure you would have worried all night about it. :grouphug:

The main reason I chose them was that they specifically said "special needs welcome"--my son has autism so that appealed to me. I'm sure Kids Night Out is excellent as well.

What kind of charges? My DS is 6 TOMORROW!!! :cake: We've been twice, third time coming up over Spring Break... I'd LOVE to do the rides in MK .... but never considered a sitter... I thought more about doing the club... like Neverland Club?
