Fabulous Deals Coming

I was just thinking that prom dresses are going to be on sale. They had just got all of the dresses in when this hit. My daughter and I were going to go dress shopping right when they announced the quarantine.

a local place had a huge banner outside that said 75% off in stock dresses plus one free alteration.

I noticed quite a few sites have lowered the free shipping minimum. Old Navy and Sephora went down to $25 and I've gotten some good deals there. We also scored a hot deal on a new bunk bed for my daughter.

Now I am hoping for a deal on a Chromebook.

Our local Walmart’s FB page listed above Acer Chromebook for $179. I know nothing about Chromebooks so don’t know if that is good or not.

Then go used. You won’t get 0% interest, but you won’t lose a bunch of value when you drive it off the lot. The first estimate I saw on how much value a new car loses was 20% in year one when I googled it. You could pay interest for a few years on a cheaper loan with that money easy.

Edit: I see you’re a college kid so I’ll be blunt- new cars are for Very unique situations or for people who have extra cash to burn on something fun. If you need a loan you don’t have the cash for fun so be practical and buy the car you need. If life goes well in the next couple years, sell it and buy the car you want. If life does not at least your car won’t be a financial burden to you. So many times I see those I Screwed Up My Finances stories and they start or include the new car. Don’t be that person.

I highly suggest getting a certified used vehicle.

Yep, that's the route I took for my second car. First car was the typical poor college student old car, though mine was actually in pretty good shape. I found a one year old car for $11,000 with 34,000 miles on it (which is a lot for a year!) in like-new condition. Hyundai and Kia offer very good cpo warranties: you get the balance of the original warranty plus the road protection warranty is extended to ten years instead of the five you get with a new car. I no longer pay my insurance company for towing as I get it free through Hyundai.

Southwest is having a deal on airfare that ends today. Not many great deals originating from my city but worth a look if you have any desire to fly somewhere later this year, especially since they never charge for changes.

Is it too much to ask that there be some sort of awesome deal on Dis tickets? Puhlease? My hubby told me we could go back as soon as 2021 (after just going this past December.
No, we have tickets for this year and we have over 7 tickets within our family that we will not be using. I emailed Disney and she said I can use them in the near future years, but will have to pay the difference in the increased price. It is definitely going up.

If you are looking for winter coats for next year, Nordstrom Rack clearance has some great deals.

Help me understand that. You'll have to pay the difference on the price of the tickets you already own to use them at a later time?

Yes. When you purchase tickets, you need to choose a date range you'll use them in. Disney has date-based tickets, so certain times of the year (mainly holidays and higher crowd times), the tickets cost more. If you change that date to a different, higher-cost date, you will have to pay the difference. There is no refund if you change the date to a lower-priced date.

What a scam, right? Please come back and spend money in our parks after the pandemic is contained, but we're gonna charge you extra...

I agree. Yes we are in a pandemic but that does not mean that every conversation has to be doom and gloom.
Agree. We are in a bad place in this country -- no, the world -- right now, but that doesn't mean it's wrong to look for the silver linings. I've really enjoyed having more time at home with my family. I've had more time to work on some house-related projects I've been putting off. And, yes, if I can get some shopping bargains, I'll be glad about it!

It’s not a scam. They’ve already altered their normal ticket policies so that the tickets can be used on any day without paying the upcharge if applicable- they didn’t have to do that. Part of the terms and agreements states that parks may close for any reason without notice.I do think it’d be more guest friendly to offer an extension through the end of next summer, maybe with the upcharges if applicable so that a ton of people don’t try to use their lowest tier ticket the second half of December or over Easter or July 4th.

Yea our trip got canceled and we had the military salute tickets for my grandson and mother in law. The person who was going to activate them will be on active duty when we go back and now we will have to either hold on to the tickets until he gets back from Guantanamo Bay or (hopefully) pay the difference to get regular park hoppers for both our grandson and mother in law in March.

There are so many "circumstances" for so many people. I know this is a minor thing in regards to life, but we so look forward to these trips. My daughter and her partner (who is in the military and got the discount tickets) are already in very stressful occupations (both her and her partner are state probation and parole officers and he is in the Coast Guard) and my husband works 70plus hours a week. These trips to WDW are very decompressing.

I know that this could sound very self absorbed, but these boards are mostly Disney related and hopefully I won't be ostracized for my post.

Fingers crossed that most everything works out for everyone.

We have been very fortunate that our financial situation is better during the pandemic, go figure. A lot of that comes from moving and starting a new job, with a higher salary, plus cutting the cost of commuting and eating out frequently. Either way, it was time for a new vehicle so we purchased a new car on 4/30 and got a great deal. We’re happy with the purchase, it’s just no fun having a new toy and nowhere to drive it!

Finding lots of deals on Spring clothing from retailers that have been closed. Haven’t ventured out to shop in store yet but I but once places like Kohl’s and a old Navy reopen they will have to clearance much of their merchandise based on season change.

We also have some Southwest flight credit we must use by January, but are not quite ready to pull the trigger on flying. Maybe in July/August, and even then just to visit family.

I guess I'm way out of the loop. I was there last October and bought tickets based on when our stay was. I didn't realize they were for just that time period. So if I am understanding correctly, if I had cancelled my trip last fall and had to reschedule and ticket prices had gone up I would have had to pay that differential? When did they start doing that? Do they still offer non expiring tix? I know you pay a big fee for that but are they still available?

Yes, if the date you picked was more expensive ticket-wise, yes, you'd have had to pay the difference. Date-based tickets started in October of 2018. There are no new non-expiring tickets being sold.

Haha, it's been a while for you too, eh? The non expiring tickets went away a few years ago...dang I wish I'd bought some. At the time, I didn't want to commit $600 for the 10 day tickets, but that will look like peanuts in another year or two when it costs close to $150/$200 a day to enter a Disney park.

I have just bought regular tickets the last couple of times. I had no idea Kind of annoying honestly, but whatever. We'll all still go! lol

I am also in the market for a new van. Inventory is pretty low right now. I’m ok with a 2015-2020 just whatever is the best van for the best price. I know I can do .9% with Honda for brand new or 2.5% at my bank for used. I’ll do payments to keep my cash working for me in the market.
