Fabulous Deals Coming

in the fabulous deal category, we had to get a new washer / dryer today. After all my research, we went to Lowe's where they had the Maytag Washer & dryer for $402 off the pair. It wa better than black friday pricing. Not exactly what we were planning on buying, but it was a great deal. And for less than they had it on Lowes.com . If I had to make this purchase, I'm so thankful for the sale they are having !

I got DS a north face book bag for 50% with a discount. For fall college time. I got DH a yeti cooler for Xmas 30% code. And DD got addias leggings 40% off. And I got DD and myself Nike’s shoes 20% off.

I keep hearing about how the price of cars is gonna tank, big time. If that ends up happening, I might get a new car. Mine is a 2007 CRV with about 85K miles on it. I don't need a new car, but I wouldn't hate having one either. We'll see.

The only thing I really look to spend money on regularly is food, and I'm spending more on that than ever! Otherwise we're trying not to buy things we don't need. We're still under lock down so shopping means online shopping for most things and I rarely find that things we really need are available at any great bargain right now. And quite frankly, if we have to use our back-up Disney date of 2021, then our trip is going to likely cost a few grand more, so we'll be unlikely to jump back into spending once things open up, either.

(Plus, if God forbid we open up and then are forced to move back towards closing things again, I'd rather be in a situation where we saved as much as we could for an extra buffer in case finances get difficult the second time around.)

All of that aside, though, those things are all just me, and if you're finding deals online or if your state, county, province, region is open for business and you're finding deals, then good for you! Stay healthy and safe and enjoy your savings. :)

Im gonna need a new dishwasher soon if anyone sees a good sale. Or has a rec. the Bosch 300 series is my leading contender

Cruises. Disney in particular knows when kids are out of school and jack up the prices like crazy on those dates. One week later - still pricey but you get what you pay for so no complaints. If Disney offers the "one week later" price on dates my kids are out of school I'd roll the dice...ON DCL.

Not a chance you'd get me on a Princess cruise.
Stay off Carnival, because they own Princess.

i love our bosch dishwasher. we got the one with the 3rd rack at the very top that holds the flatware so i took the baskets out of the bottom rack so i can fit more of the larger stuff. i love that both of the larger racks let you fold down the section dividers so it's a breeze to fit larger items in (i have one of the larger airfryers and can fit both pieces easily in the bottom rack if i fold down the dividers). that dishwasher is so quiet that we actually do rely on the display light that reflects onto to flooring in front of the dishwasher to determine if the load is done running.

I was just thinking that prom dresses are going to be on sale. They had just got all of the dresses in when this hit. My daughter and I were going to go dress shopping right when they announced the quarantine.

I feel bad for the girls that already had their dresses and most are not returnable. I know a lot of the girls start shopping in January for Prom.

I noticed quite a few sites have lowered the free shipping minimum. Old Navy and Sephora went down to $25 and I've gotten some good deals there. We also scored a hot deal on a new bunk bed for my daughter.

Now I am hoping for a deal on a Chromebook.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I did some research and it seems like all the dealers are offering 0% interest for 72 months. I wanted to be aggressive and pay off my car in 3 years but I need to stay within my means. That’s my biggest problem.
Im scheduled to pay off a 5 year car loan after just 17 months - sometimes its nice to have the flexibility of the lower payment and then be as aggressive as circumstances allow. 🙂
I just finished paying off my car about 5 months early. It dropped my credit score. Why? Oh, because I no longer have a car payment. In what alternate universe does that make sense? It only dropped 4 pts, but still. Stupid bank industry.

We are considering a car. Mine has 113000 miles on it so it's time. I don't want to jump in too quickly but I don't want to miss the deals either! Any thoughts on waiting until the end of the month verses buying now?

We have had a similar problem....we sold our last house a while ago, and moved to another property owned outright. We both have company cars, and only one credit card. So - no mortgage, no car loans - or other loans - and only one card = our credit score tanked.
We've since gotten two new credit cards each, and financed a minor piece of farm equipment, and it's slowly going back up. Unbelievable..

We had to get a new dishwasher a couple weeks ago. We had a Samsung and when it started acting up, I couldn't find any repair people to work on it, so I told myself we were going to replace it with something a little more mainstream. In our state, only one person per household is allowed to go to the store, so DH went to Lowe's and picked out a mid-grade Whirlpool (it was about $500). I couldn't be happier with it. It is VERY quiet, gets the dishes spotless and takes so much less time to run than the Samsung did.

Then go used. You won’t get 0% interest, but you won’t lose a bunch of value when you drive it off the lot. The first estimate I saw on how much value a new car loses was 20% in year one when I googled it. You could pay interest for a few years on a cheaper loan with that money easy.

Edit: I see you’re a college kid so I’ll be blunt- new cars are for Very unique situations or for people who have extra cash to burn on something fun. If you need a loan you don’t have the cash for fun so be practical and buy the car you need. If life goes well in the next couple years, sell it and buy the car you want. If life does not at least your car won’t be a financial burden to you. So many times I see those I Screwed Up My Finances stories and they start or include the new car. Don’t be that person.
