Hi, Guys this will be my first time at WDW Sept 4th -10th, would someone share the date and their experiences! Thanks Kimmie

Hi Kimmie,

Unfortunately the F&WF doesn't begin until 9/26 so you won't be there for it. There is a sticky at the top of this page that has a bunch of info (as much as is available right now) about the F&WF for 08 and some other info based on last year's events.

Yes it is around end of September into first week of Nov. It really great can be crowded at times but mostly on weekends !:goodvibes

Traditionally it has been scheduled for the month of October. A few years back they expanded to 6 weeks and added the first two weeks of November. calendar wise that meant it started at the very beginning of October & ran a full two weeks into November. If they stick to their current 6 full weeks encompassing 7 weekends at some point like possibly next year it might switch back to beginning the first weekend in October. They have hinted for several years that they may expand to 8 weeks but so far that hasn't happened. if you want to be sure to visit while F & W is in full swing I would recommend planning on visiting in October rather than assuming that it will begin on the last weekend in September. Likewise don't plan for the second full week of November because it may be winding down like it is this year. For a good example, many people have assumed for years that Star Wars weekends is held during the month of May every year. In the beginning it was. one year it ran for 5 weekends & one year it ran for 6 weekends. For the past few years they have been pushing it later & later so it now seems to fall for 2 weekends in May & 2 weekends in June. Many people planned their trips for the beginning of May and were severely disappointed when the official dates were finally announce tha past few years. Fortunately the F & W dates for the following year are usually announced during the current years festival. So people who are planning way in advance can be farely sure when F & W is going to occur the next year.(Subject to change of course)

I go every year to this fest. I am from the Chicago area and it reminds me of the City Taste of Chicago. Around the World Showcase Lagoon there are placed something like 25 booths. In each of these booths a country is housed and offeres a local food as well as local wine or beer ( sometimes both ). The countries are not only ones that you will see in the World Showcase. ( examples: Greece, Argentina, Ireland ) The food usually starts around 2.00 a small sampling to about 5.00. The servings are in 'taste' sizes so you can sample many different foods. Some are good ol' favorites ( cheddar cheese soup ) to the unusual ( Manti ) Each year they also have a host display ( last year was Route 66 ) You can also purchase event tickets for special dinner packages, seminars, etc.

It is a lovely event and a great way to try new tastes without breaking the bank or feeling too bad if you don't care for something.
