Extra Fee for dropping off at Dolphin?

I was thinking of renting a car for one day, picking up at the airport and dropping off at the Dolphin Car Center. This would be when we first arrive and then renting a car for the last 3 days of our trip to see some things off-site; picking it up at Dolphin Car Center and dropping it off at the airport. I thought since Alamo is the new Official Car, that there wouldn't be a one way rental charge but when I plugged the dates in it comes up with a $30 drop off charge. Is this normal or just a glitch on the internet?
We really don't need a car for the 9 days we'll be there, and it would save quite a bit of money if there wasn't that huge drop off charge addes. Anybody out there have experience with this?
I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks ahead of time.

We are planning to go to the dolphin in April and are trying to think of different options to get to the hotel from the airport. We usually go though Tiffany Town Car service. However we were wondering how much it would be to rent a car for that one day or maybe like you a day or two at the end of the vacation. Could please tell me how much it was going to cost you all together.

We did the pick-up at Dolphin, drop-off at airport route and there was no extra fee.

If you are serious about getting the best rate, be sure to try all the car companies and use codes from Mousesavers.

According to Alamo, there is a Disney car care center where you can drop the car off. They do not charge the $30 drop off fee. I received a quote from the car care center and assumed that it would be the same for the dolphin. I was debating which would be easier. I am glad that I saw your post. I checked it out and you were right they do add the $30 drop off fee to the dolphin. Can anyone tell me where the car care center is and if there is transportation to the parks and resorts to/from the center.

The Disney Car Care Center is located along the entrance road to the MK (World Drive) just outside of the guest parking area. See this WDW Road Map. Free transportation to and from WDW resorts is available. The Car Care Center is a joint Alamo/National operation. Alamo and National are owned by the same parent company and have combined operations at a number of locations. You may want to check availability with National as well as Alamo. Sometimes, good discount codes are available with National.

lopey, Sorry I haven't been on line in a couple of days. I don't remember the rates I got; as soon as I saw the $30 drop off fee I decided to find out if that was normal before proceeding further.
As soon as I look it up again, I'll post what rates I find.
Does anyone know if the drop off fee to Dolphin might not be added I wasn't trying to do this on-line?
I didn't check National for picking up at MCO and dropping off at The Dolphin. Perhaps National doesn't add the drop off fee.

okay, I just went and plugged in a few scenerios and this is what I have so far:

Picking up at MCO and dropping off at Dolphin and a $30 dollar drop off fee with Alamo but not with National. Picking up at MCO and dropping off at The Car Care Center doesn't have a drop off fee for either company.
When renting for one day only , the rates are quite high but still makes more sense than keeping a car for 9 days.
So far these are the best rates I've come up with:

National:
MCO to Dolphin....................ID #5160012 total $40.04
the ID # is one that came up on it's own. I was looking up a rate through Alamo and at the bottom it had a button to press to find the rate from National. I checked several other codes and they were all higher.

MCO to Car Care Center #675889 BY $37.83

I also price picking up a car at the end of our trip for 3 days (Thurs. - Sun.), Funny thing, going from the Dolphin to MCO there was no drop off charge for either company.

National:
Dolphin to MCO #675899 BY Coupon # D14B $110.00

National AARP rate $94.12


My brain is fried now , but I plan on trying again in a couple of days and I'll post when I do. Many of the codes are expiring before my trip and I'm hoping there will be some new ones out.
