Where did it originate?

So horrible, thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and friends dealing with losses today.

It's being reported, a 51 year old man arrested last week at Austrian/ German border with weapons .....possible ties to Paris attack?

Just like 911 this is war just brought to a new level of depravity. What kind of low mentality coward attacks unarmed civilians going about peaceful activities. I hope the Islamic cowards who spawned these monsters feel the swift arm of justice very soon. No matter what weak protests are made I hope the French round up all associates of those involved. Anyone who knew and enabled these people to breathe air and exist among us should be held responsible for harboring the enemy. They are just as guilty of murder.

What happens during the three days of national mourning? Are there prayer services? Memorial services? Sorry for my ignorance.

Prayers for France.

SKY NEWS reporting an apartment in Belgium has been raided by the Police. 3 of the attackers lived there

Also an incident at London Gatwick airport, where a 41 year old French man has been arrested, police did a controlled explosion at a trash can and recovered a firearm, no reports as to whether this is linked to Paris attacks

Fox News just reported a train derailment in Strausburg, France. At least 5 killed. No idea if related.

Just curious as to what anyone here has repeated from US news outlets that have not been factual.
I'm curious too. The BBC and Sky may have the advantage of being closer to the source, but I think the snark towards US networks was uncalled for. In fact, I just read one of the derided networks mention a news report from a European news source that detailed that a passenger train had just derailed in France with confirmed fatalities. They then cautioned that there's no evidence to link it with yesterday's event, and earlier reminded viewers with the caution that in the wake of 9/11 there were many unconfirmed reports that turned out to be incorrect. And let's be honest here, the BBC has had it's own problems with being "factual" in recent years.

they didnt say, its an ongoing story, just came through to them on the news wires

The info came from police reports.

Oh - apparent there's a raid in Brussels of those suspected in planning this.

SKY NEWS reporting that Greek Government confirming that one of the attackers in Paris is thought to be a Syrian refugee who passed through Greece in October and had his passport checked and recorded in Greece.

I've listened to reports from BBC. They will flat out say that reporters don't try to be totally unbiased. However, they do attempt to be factual.

I think places like the BBC and SkyNews are perfectly fine news sources, I often listen to the world feed of the BBC in my car myself, I just don't understand the need to slam US networks.

I agree. Either Sky News or BBC are going to present several things you rarely see on American networks of any political persuasion:
  • Actual reporting by real journalists vs. talking head "experts" selected for their bias being aligned with that of the particular network, and news readers. American news starts out, "...the (insert news service name) is reporting that..."
  • Straightforward factual stories vs. slanted manipulating of the news to correspond with the network's biases. No American network presents facts which are inconvenient for their viewpoint.

Let me also add that France has an English news source: www.France24.com

And I know this will be controversial (even though it should NOT be), but Al Jazeera English has some of the best world-wide coverage you will find anywhere. Absolutely first class reporting.
