Disneyland Paris is closed today 14 November as a mark of respect

approx 100 people seriously injured and being treated in hospital, with a variety of injuries

Gunmen in the Paris Bataclan were wearing bomb belts and blew themselves up when Police stormed in

7 attackers blew themselves up, 1 attacker was killed by Police, all attackers accounted for, Police now looking for accomplices

1500 armed military on the streets of Paris

3 people killed at Stade de France

Eurostar trains from UK to France operating as normal but with delays

Flights into and out of Charles de Gaulle airport operating as normal , with delays

11 stations on Paris Metro lines 3,5,8,9 will be closed today along with bus services crossing the 10th and 11th arrondissement

U2 concert in Paris 14 November has been postponed

France has declared 3 days of National Mourning

ISIS are now claiming responsibility and the reason they are targeting France is because of that country's Government policies and military operations against ISIS in Syria and Iraq

This is about the most naive post here. They don't care about your hatred or fear. They could care less about your civil liberties. They don't want a dialogue or or an open discussion. I can speak for what the state of national emergency means in my particular area (which is far from Paris)...

The Prefecture recalls that under the state of emergency, it may at any time, "according to the circumstances and the evolution of the threat:
• prohibit the movement of people and vehicles in places and at the times fixed by decree;
• establish, by order, protection areas or where the safety of people living is regulated;
• prohibit the stay in all or part of the department to any person seeking to hinder, in any manner whatsoever, the action of public authorities.

In addition, all school trips are prohibited. We expect to see a lot of police presence.

Just curious as to what anyone here has repeated from US news outlets that have not been factual.

SKY News have multiple reporters in Paris, interviewing witnesses, and filming live from the various locations. Having watched USA news many times during my many visits to USA, the way USA media report on major incidents and the way UK based media report on major incidents is very different. Also a pp a few pages back noted the updates that I was posting from SKY NEWS were better than what they were watching on USA TV

My best friend's daughter is a 22 year old American student at University of Barcelona. She's been in France for the week, and was in the stadium yesterday. She was one of the last to get out. We finally got word that she's safe in Madrid. It was a sad, scary night.

I have SKYNEWS as one my presets on Sirius radio, and one of our TV news outlets was using/streaming SKYNEWS last night, which is what I was watching. SOME of our news outlets do try and get it right.

I agree. Either Sky News or BBC are going to present several things you rarely see on American networks of any political persuasion:

• Actual reporting by real journalists vs. talking head "experts" selected for their bias being aligned with that of the particular network, and news readers. American news starts out, "...the (insert news service name) is reporting that..."
• Straightforward factual stories vs. slanted manipulating of the news to correspond with the network's biases. No American network presents facts which are inconvenient for their viewpoint.

BBC is reporting one bomber had a Syrian passport, one an Egyptian passport, and a third was a Frenchman identified by his finger prints who was known to French intelligence.

I am terrified about how ISIS seams to so easily recruit people to commit these crimes and kill themselves.
