Pretty much. They all adhere to the same communications standards. IOW, you could take a cable modem that you used with COX cable and use it on Comcast. You just have to tell them the "address" (each modem has a unique address number) of the modem so it can be activated.
Having said that, there can be differences in quality.
Thank you to you both!! Our local Office Max has a D-Link DCM-202 on clearance for about 1/2 off and I was wondering if that was a good buy....just wanted something to compare it to, I guess!
They want us to pay for one and they will take it back when we cancel service. I think I would like to pay for my own & keep it if I have to pay for any.....
