Hi! Wanted to give a summary of our YC/ BWI stays from last week. We were at YC from 5/4 - 8 & BWI cottage suite from 5/8-10. YC has several new club CMs but everyone was pleasant & friendly. We were in room 5177, right over the back entrance. This room is close to the lounge & elevators. We usually request a quiet room but I made no requests this time. No problems with noise at all. Everything was clean & in good working order. There was a notice in the room about a helicopter fly over on Tues & Wed for "promotional" taping. We did not hear anything, but someone on another thread said they were woken up at 5 AM by this!

Breakfast & snack offerings were the same as always, but there are a few new things at 5 PM. There was a beef skewer: small sausage type meat wrapped with bacon. Yummy!!! There has been discussion regarding CMs now serving the wine & cordials. A small cart is set up in the hall just outside the lounge & the CM stands behind the cart. We don't drink, but this seemed ok to me. The CM did not seem to be "policing" guests & we saw many guests standing & chatting with this CM. I did hear a family complaining outside the spa about not being able to use the lockers/ changing area there. As I was in the ladies room, the mother was ranting about paying so much for a hotel & having to use the bathroom to change for the pool. I have not had any thoughts on this previously as it didn't affect me. But this woman got me thinking: the rest rooms near the pool are clean, but get a little sloppy if lots of people track in from the pool. I would be really upset if I paid big bucks for a spa treatment & had to use a wet, smelly changing area after someone wandered in from the pool. I do expect a clean, pleasant changing area in a spa at home, so I am OK with the new policy. We swam at Storm Along Bay Wed AM. The pool was relatively quiet with lots of chairs available. The hotel was fully booked with a large convention. They had a few evening events on the beach which shifted the movies over a bit, but otherwise didn't seem to effect things much. I have wanted to try the BWI Cottage Suites for awhile & booked for 2 nights there with the AP 37% off. I am glad we only stayed 2 nights as we were rather disappointed. We walked over from Epcot & approached a CM outside the entrance. He was very friendly & called upstairs to announce us & he escorted us up. The CM at the first desk seemed very stressed & busy. He directed us to the desk inside for check in. Anita checked us in. We found her very unprofessional. She was rushed with us & mumbled so we could hardly understand her. It was not a regional dialect thing, as she said she was from the same area of NY state we are from. She was chatting & joking with another CM thru out our check in process. No info on the lounge or offerings except to say there was a sheet with lounge times in our packet. We had to ask how to get outside to our room. She mumbled something about a stairway, but after having her repeat it twice, we gave up & left to figure it out on our own. We asked about our luggage which was being transferred from YC. Anita said it would be delivered right to our room, no need to call. This was at about 2 PM. At 4:30, we called bell services. Yes, our luggage was there but yes, we needed to call & be in the room for it to be delivered. This is something the club CMs have offered to do for us in other resorts. We also found our magic bands did not work to enter the lounge area that night. The CM said they had not been coded at check in. He was surprised we had even gotten into our room. We are used to YC, BC & RPC @ GF with the lounge & CMs right there when you get off the elevators. We did not like having to travel down the hall & enter thru an office area to get to the lounge. Might have been different if our room was inside the club area, but even then, we still would have had to enter thru the office area. We found the lounge area large, but not enough seating. a couple stood one night at evening service as there were no chairs for them. We missed the lemonade the other club levels offer. And the other clubs levels have offered bottled water, this was a large dispenser that tasted like tap water. Yuck. As for the cottage: we were in room 1208 & I can say the rehab is definitely needed. The sofa fabric is worn, large white spots on the blue paint behind the sinks & the acrylic shower doors have water & soap residue all over. Our room had some type of dehumidifier behind the sofa. It was so loud we couldn't hear the TV or sleep, so we turned it off while in the room. I have never stayed in any hotel room that had anything like that. Both bathroom fans are on motion sensors. And yes, you need to move around while on the toilet or the fan shuts off after a few seconds. Very bizarre. However, it did not sense movement in the shower, so the room filled with steam. Fan came on after you got out. Not pleasant. We kept the over bed fan on all the time. The downstairs area was nicely cooled, but the bed upstairs was warm so needed the fan going. The hairdryer & it's bag were dirty. I did find out stairs in a hotel room are not for me: after walking the parks all day the last thing I wanted to do was walk upstairs to bed. I don't want it to sound all bad. The area with the cottages is pretty, quiet & peaceful. The room really is pretty & we liked the whirlpool tub. The muffins, bagels & fruit is much better than the YC's. Loved that BW has strawberries & grapes instead of just different melons. But all in all, we prefer YC. Sorry I got long winded! Thanks for reading!
