Any idea if the rumor that it may open sept 2005 is reality? We are going in Oct 2005 and we were hoping we may get a ride!

My guess is no. I don't know where you've heard 2005, but everything I've heard has it opening sometime in 2006.

I think Soarin' (a new ride in Epcot) might be open at that time, but I'm almost positive Everest has an opening date of 2006.

I did a search and one site that there has been talk. Oh well!

was in the World last week- this is what I saw at the EE site

If you are lucky, it may be in "soft opening" while you are there. I hope it is so you can experience it!! :hyper:

If not, Soarin' IS set to "Take Flight" in 2005! :Pinkbounc

Maybe that is what I read about. The possibility of a "soft Opening" too. I hope you are right. I need to start gathering my courage now! I am a wimp on the big drops!!!

I agree with another post that if you are lucky they might be having a "soft opening" when you are there.
We rode Mission: Space last June months before the "official" opening.
Keep reading these boards as your trip comes closer. Someone will know about the "soft opening" and post info. That's how we knew about Mission: Space last year.

At DVC Member Homecoming they said that they were looking for a Christmas 2005/New Years 2006 opening.

WHAT!?!?!?

We did massive amounts of planning before going to WDW last August. Of course, that was before I knew about this site.

I saw that Mission: Space was scheduled to open mid-August right after we left. I was torqued. But I figured I'd catch it next trip.

You mean to tell me it was running while we were there 2 weeks prior to it's official opening?

Oh, well. Live and learn.

To umbluegray:

It was only through these postings that I knew that it was open. If you looked at it from the Test Track area during the day it was closed. At evening they opened a small section of the gate and let people in for their "soft opening". As our week at WDW progressed I believe they starting removing more of the barriers every evening. We rode it every day last June from Monday through Friday. We just made it a point to walk over to the Mission: Space area every evening.
The information picked up on these boards is priceless!!!!!!!!

Most rides are up and running before the GO. They will give you the technical rehearsal spiel to cover themselves.

I rode:
TT
ToT
M:S
Star Tours
Pooh
AE
ROTM
BTTF
and many others before official opening.

I just got back last night. Was in Animal Kingdom on Thursday and a Cast Member told us that it is ahead of schedule and that they will probably be open Nov 2005 just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration of Disneyland, which is going to be celebrated in every park. He also told us that he has heard that Camp Mini-Mickey will be turned into Beastly Kingdom and that the Lion King show will be moved over to Africa, but I don't remember when he said that was supposed to happen.

That seems strange that they would move FLK after just enclosing the stage, air conditioning, lighting, etc.

Both the move of FOLK, and Beastly Kingdom are old rumors that have circulated at various times over the past few years. It would make tons of sense for every reason except money. EE is a 100 million dollar attraction, and it's not likely that Disney will spend big money again on the AK for a few years. Of course, they have Soarin going in right after Mission Space, and Stitch and Mickey's Philharmagic in the same year, so you never know.
