Quite a few times. I love bed and breakfasts! I actually once did a huge presentation in back in college. I always compare rates with bed and breakfasts and hotels. Usually I can stay at a bed and breakfast for less, which is helpful when traveling alone. I've always had wonderful time. I love the ones with pets since I don't have any. I've always just been served breakfast, there is usually fresh fruit, toast, cereal, muffins, etc... In addition, many have featured a hot gourmet breakfast plate you can get. Several places offered freshly baked cookies at night or a snack, like popcorn or soft pretzels. I like that they are unqiue and are usually in great locations, like in the center of a small town/city so you don't need to worry about having a car to get around.

I enjoyed reading about your experience. Sounds like a fun time.

No. Unfortunately. I have wanted to but haven't had the opportunity as of yet

I have never been to one either. My friend goes to them with her family, and she always enjoys herself. There are B&Bs here, but not sure if I would go to one of them here. I like staying at hotels. But if I were to travel to another state, I think I would like the opportunity to stay at one.

This past June was my first time. Awesome old house in a farming town. Tiny rooms, separate bathrooms. Very nice and comfortable. Was only there one night and had other dinner plans (they operated an on site steakhouse in the evenings) so we had one breakfast there. Afterwards she took our whole party to the basement to tour the speakeasy. Pretty cool stuff.

Sounds like a nice stay. What is a speakeasy?

Have you ever stayed at a Bed and Breakfast? If so, how was your experience? How many meals were you served, and what type of meal did you get?

No, we had planned on staying in one up in Maine back in 2000 but someone John worked with had just got back from Disney and after hearing all about it he decided we would go there instead.

Patsy a speakeasy was a place to get alcoholic drinks during prohibition.

No but we have tons of them around the Jersey Shore (not sure how many were affected by Sandy....).

Thank you for the explanation Heidi.

We live in a one level house so if the front door is blocked by fire we have a door in the kitchen or if that is blocked too, we would have to go out a window.

No. But we have many doors and windows to get out. My biggest fear is getting the animals out.

We do. Each year my kids would bring home a fire safety book. In it, one of the activities is to put together a fire escape plan.

Have you gone to a Pumpkin Patch this year? If so, tell us about it. Were there hay rides, pumpkin, apples, and other goodies for sale, .....?

I have not. I don't know a good one around here. I am going to visit my parents this week so maybe I'll go Wednesday!

Yes. Roasted corn, kettle corn, fresh made cider donuts that you can watch being made, fresh hot out of the oven pies, pumpkin picking right out of the field, hay rides, wine tasting, and much more. We have many farms here that do that sort of thing is part of our tourism here on Long Island

No pumpkin patch, but we did take my niece apple picking and she had fun.

No, I was supposed to go with dd and dgd today but she had to change plans. :confused3
