I grew up in Pittsburgh, and ate a lot of ethnic foods, but I don't know that any are truly Pittsburgh. Maybe the Primanti's sandwich (?) which includes your choice of meats and then coleslaw and fries on Italian bread. :goodvibes yummm.. And Isalay's Chipped Ham is the one thing I have my parents bring me when they visit.

Here in Lancaster, I would say Shoo Fly Pie and maybe Fastnachts, since next Tues is Fastnacht Day. They're pretty much glazed or powdered sugar donuts without the holes or filling. I've never seen pretzel rolls anywhere else, either. Picture a soft pretzel (no big holes, tho!) instead of a bun for a sandwich.

I've seen the Primanti's sandwich on the Travel channel--man, that looked good.

Good thoughts Patsy.

I am a worrier by nature.

I worry about DH bad eating habits. Mine recently came back to bite me in the butt, and was forced to radically change the way I eat because of it. And if he doesn't change his bad eating habits, it's going to come back and get him.

Patsy, I am so sorry you have to go through this - praying everything will go very smoothly with your DH and children.

So, today's QOTD is-
When was the last time you were worried or nervous about something, and what was it about or for?
I never used to worry about anything - then my son died unexpectedly and now I worry about all kinds of things.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes.

Christine, I am so sorry to hear of your son's death.

Patsy, hope everything goes well for your DH.

The last time I was really stressed and worried was a few weeks ago. We had a huge inspection at work where inspectors come in, watch you teach and make judgements against your school. It is a really big deal over here and something we have been working towards doing well at for a long time. Luckily it went really well!!

So, my husband had gone to the eye doctors, and his needs to have a procedure done. We need to fly to the other island-where I do not drive at. Then we have to stay over since the doctor needs to see him for a pre-op the following day....I am sooooo stresssing over this, and it makes me nervous at the same time. I don't think these feelings will end until he recovers. Especially having to leave my kids with my parents overnight while we are away. My daughter is the only one that has been away from me when I had my son, but she will be okay now. It is my son, that I worry about :(.

I hope it all goes well! Maybe your son will look at it as a fun time with his grandparents? It's wonderful your parents are there to look after them, at least.

I'm streseed everyday, DD5 is special needs (all psychological/brain issues) and everday is a struggle. That is why I love these boards, it keeps me going.

Since Mardi Gras is coming up....are you planning on celebrating it? What is your favorite Mardi Gras/New Orleans food? What types of foods would you like to try? What do you like best about Mardi Gras?

I don't celebrate Mardi Gras but I think it would be fun to go to New Orleans just once and be there for it.

We were in NOLA last weekend and hit up 2 parades. SOOOO Much fun! We ended up with over 70lbs of beads, toys and cups. My DD's had a blast. We don't normally do anything for Mardi Gras, but I may make a bit pot of Jambalaya this year.

I have never been to Mardi Gras but would love to one day. I would make a jambalaya (actually we had one for dinner yesterday!!)

I have never celebrated Mardi Gras, but would like to try King Cake. I have tried gumbo, and jambalaya, and I would pass on those.

I've never celebrated Mardi Gras. I would love to visit New Orleans someday, but probably not on Mardi Gras.....too many people for my comfort! I'd have to say King Cake is something that looks pretty good. I'd also try jambalaya.

What are your favorite crepe fillings?

Nutella, hands down! Sooooooooooo good! :) When we lived in the DC area a few years ago, there was a creperie near our apartment. DH and I used to go there often. They had a crepe with vanilla ice cream and mint flavoring drizzled over it. Delicious! I'm getting really hungry now...... :rotfl:

Today is the start of the Winter Olympics....will you be watching it? And if so, what event are you most looking forward to?

I will watch - most likely the various skiing and skating, but depends what is on at a time when I am free and awake enough to watch!
