My father in law used to raise catfish. How are crawfishes grown?

I really have no idea. Every time we go down to visit the family in the bootheel for Thanksgiving we pass these places and DH always says we should go there instead . . . I'm guessing they don't really "farm" them; they catch them in the same areas and set up stops to buy them and and/or eat them. I personally have not had any.

I've been out of town so I have a couple of questions to catch up on!

How often do you eat out? By yourself, drive thru, order pizza, eat out with your family.....?
I don't eat out by myself. If I'm alone, I bring it home. We average about once a week eating a meal out.

Did you have a nickname growing up, or even now?
It's not really a nickname but I'm called Susie by some.

Last night, DH and I had gone to a luau! They had an open bar-(DH enjoyed it, but I am not a drinker, and the mixed drink he ordered for me was too strong). They had uncovered the underground cooked pig, and they had great entertainment with the dancers dancing different dances from the different Polynesian Islands. There was even the fire dancer to end the show. But I wondered, and which will be our QOTD.

When you think of going to a luau show in Hawaii, what types of foods do you think would be served? -(without checking online).

Or if you have ever been to one, what types of foods were served?

Will compare with some of the foods that were at the luau we had attended last night.
I've never been to a Luau. I would expect Poi, roasted pig and some sort of roasted banana.

I should add I've never had it, and always wondered what it is like.

Past QODs:

No public transportation here, but loved the T when I lived in Boston and used it all the time.

Nickname...yes, but it's really goofy, and only because I couldn't pronounce my own name when I was starting to talk. :lmao: Only a few people left in my family who call me it.
Oh, but now you must tell us!! :goodvibes

We had gone to a seafood farm today with my daughter's club. We had seen things like lobster, oysters, clams, abalone, fish, crab....grown there or at the seafood farm across the street. So today's QOTD is-

Are there seafood farms like the one we had visited today that sells items to companies, and to the public in your area/state? And if so, what sort of products do they sell?

If not, then if you were to have something like such in your area, what type of seafood would you wish they sold?
We have catfish farms where you can go fish. We also have fisheries where they grown fish to let loose out in the lakes, rivers and streams.

Complete the following sentences.

*If I were to dress up for Halloween, I would dress up as a good witch.

*My favorite Halloween candy or Halloween treat is an Atchinson's peanut butter thingy.

*This year for Halloween, I am passing out nothing probably since we don't get trick or treaters. But I do have Little Debbie's and packages of peanut crackers should someone come by.

*My favorite Halloween memory was when the wind blew and the leaves floated around. Teenagers threw water balloons off the roof of their house. At another home, a college age boy climbed up in a tree and yelled bloodcurdling yells when kids walked under it. My friend wore a witches mask, she took it off at one house and the little girl there at the home helping pass out the candy screamed and cried because she thought my friend took off her face.

Sounds like fun Susan since I do like to go fishing.

I forgot about banana. They do not have roasted bananas, but usually they do have banana bread which they did not.

There are so many different speciality foods in each U.S. state. If you were you choose to visit three other states to go to a food festival that they may have from all the popular foods they are known for, which states would you choose, and for what particular food?

Ex. Hawaii for a pineapple festival, or California for avocados.

Mmmm. Maine for their lobsters. I believe they have some kind of Lobster Festival. Louisiana bayou for their gumbo and such. And I'm not sure where else off the top of my head . . .

I would choose.

Georgia for their peaches, Maine for their lobsters, and Alaska for their salmon.

Have you ever watched the Food Network show called Iron Chef? If not, for each food cooking challenge, they have a type of food that they need to use to prepare each of their dishes with. It could be anything from a fruit, seafood, meat.... If you were to compete in this show, and you were able to choose your food challenge item, what would it be? Ex. Cheese, lobster, cabbage......

If you were a paleontologist, and discovered a new spieces of dinosaurs, what would you call it?

I enjoy eating caramel apples but I've never made them. I like them best covered in chopped peanuts.

A neighbor that does something weird, they had a weird incident that happened...... not just your quiet next door neighbor.

I like the sweet type of cornbread that is moist. I tried making it once, and it did not turn out good. I tried using a box mix today, and adding two tablespoons of honey. It is good, but I need it to be more moist.

Do you make cornbread? What are your tips? Do you have a recipe you could share? When do you usually make cornbread? Just for the holidays, all year around, each time you make chili.....?

Hmmm, well I guess the weirdest thing a neighbor has done is the guy that used to live across the street got drunk one night and was driving his lawnmower up and down the street.

I use a package mix by Martha White. I don't buy presweetened, it's too sweet for me. I add a tablespoon of sugar to mine for just a hint of sweetness.

I usually make cornbread in the winter when we have chili.
