Have you ever hit an animal while driving? What sort of livestock or rodents are around your area that gets hit by vehicles?

I don't drive, John has hit a deer and a squirrel. As for animals that are around that could get hit.

Deer
Bear
Squirrel
Rabbit
Turkey
Cat
Dog
Roster/Chicken
Skunk
Opossum

no i have never hit an animal while driving, thank god, and i really hope i dont because i would be heartbroken.

around here you could hit a rabbit, squirrel, fox, raccoon, opossum, dog, cat, skunk, definitely deer

I ran over a young guinea hen on the way to church one day. Didn't see it until it was too late because it blended in with the road.

What could be run over? Dogs, cats, coyotes, bobcats, possums, raccoons, ducks, squirrels, cows, chickens, snakes, field mice, field rats, birds.

The rare small bird for me. I fondly remember the time when my DH had just unofficially bought the Town and Country we own. He had paid for it, but the insurance agency was closed until Monday, so we were driving it with DH's companies Demo Plate. I had taken it on the Hwy for a quick test drive when out of nowhere an immature eagle with an adult bunny in it's talons swooped across my front windshield while I was doing around 50 miles an hour. I was going under the speed limit at the time, and missed it with less than a couple of inches to spare. Had I had been going the speed limit I would have hit guaranteed. Safe to say it scared the H*LL out of me, and gave me a couple of grey hairs. Otheriwise we have the usual suspects, squirrels, skunks, dogs, cats, rats, mice, and the occassional raccoon and possum.

Today my daughter's club will be going to the space center, and they will be meeting an astronaut. So today's QOTD is-

Have you met anyone famous before?

Thanks to my DH's work with his local union, I've met alot of the union leaders, such as the BCGEU's head Jim Sinclair (the largest union in BC). I've also met Carol James the former leader of the official opposition of the NDP many times over the years prior to her stepping down a couple of weeks ago. I met Chip Ganassi's father many years ago when volunteering for the Vancouver Indy when it was still around, and he was one of the nicest people I've ever met, really down to earth. Encountered Peter Delouise when eating at one of our favourite BBQ places in Vancouver many years ago. And various politicians of the provinical parties here in BC.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about skunks! Also armadillos.

I've never met anyone famous but I did see Roger Staubach from afar.

Shared an elevator with Sam Brown at AKL last Nov.

My mom talked with Paul Sorvino.

I've met a few authors, mostly YA authors like Ridley Pearson and Mary Pope Osborne, who writes the Magic Tree House books for kids (I'm a teacher so I'm all over the author event things :) )

Nope, no famous people- not that I recall.

Oh wait- I did meet the guys from REM once. At a show in Athens (where most of them live....) Forgot about that. And several techno DJs. Got a hug from DJ Richard Humpty.

Does your town/state/country have any speciality dishes, or foods that they are known for? Maybe even a particular restaurant that was featured on t.v., and a chef said it was excellent.

Yeah Saint Louis has been on tons of shows, probably most often for Pappy's (an excellent barbecue place) - it was on Man vs Food and I think another Food Network show, and Ted Drewes which is a frozen custard place. It was on The Best Thing I Ever Ate. I know theres been a lot of rib festivals here that have been televised but I haven't lived here long enough to know which ones.

We're known for gooey butter cakes, cotton candy, st louis style ribs (made with a rub) and toasted ravioli

Our province is known for our salmon, and city is known for cranberries, blueberries. I also live in the largest Chinatown in North America, so Chinese and Japanese food abounds here. Didn't realize how good we have it having authentic Chinese and Japanese food places really close to where we live until we do a road trip outside our city and province.

Western PA has more deer hit by cars than killed by hunters. Before we moved out here a deer hit me...ran right into the side of my car. It was dazed, and wandered off.

Out here I've hit a ground hog, and birds commit suicide into my windshield at an alarming rate.

A few Pgh sports people but that's it, I think.

Lancaster PA I guess is known for Shoo Fly pie, Fastnachts, a lot of Amish dishes.
