Here is another question for today.

What sort of side dishes/choices do you have at fast food restaurants in your area?

Ex. With a Happy Meal at McDonalds, kids are able to pick from french fries, or apple dippers-(sliced apples).

Mcdonalds Happy meals...fries, or apple slices. Burger King...fries, onion rings or a side salad, and with Wendy's and A&W you are stuck with fries only.

What did you have for dinner tonight?

Ham roast, mashed potatoes and corn.

Mc D - fries or apples
BK - fries or apples
Long Johns - fries, slaw, hush puppies, and corn on the cob
Subway - if you want a side, you can buy a bag of chips
Wendys - fries, but you can always buy a baked potato instead
KFC - potato wedges, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese, biscuit, corn bread
A&W - fries
Chinese - white rice

We had a crockpot hashbrown casserole last night for dinner.

Our fast food places serve sides about like what others have mentioned. Chick-fil-a does offer a fruit cup or coleslaw.

Do you bake your own bread? If so, what type do you make? Do you use a bread machine? Feel free to post receipes.

If you do not make your own...what type of breads do you like to buy, and enjoy?

No i don't bake my own, my grandfather used too.

I like wheat, pumpernickel, and white.

No, I don't make my own bread. I do have a bread machine though just collecting dust. Joe gave it to me for Christmas one year so that I could bake bread for him.

I like white and wheat the best. If I had my way, I'd eat white all the time but since wheat is better for you........

I love to bake, and I've made bread. I always say I'm going to perfect a sourdough recipe over the winter, and never do. Maybe this year! :rotfl2:

I do make Easter bread every year (Paska and the eggy braided kind) and pizza dough.

Banana and Zucchini breads all the time.

I use the bread maker, and make bread, and we also purchase it from the store.

I like sweet bread, and french bread.

Lynne, could you share your pizza dough recipe.

no I have never made bread, my mom used to in a bread maker and it always smelled so delicious. she used a sundried tomato mix, it was so good!

For dinner last night I had toasted ravioli and french onion soup at a pub, went out with some friends.

Side dishes - fries and apple slices at MCD, cinnamon twists or cheese tortilla things at Taco Bell, and I think just fries at other places around here

I too have a breadmaker that's collecting dust. DH and the kids like white bread, but I also like whole wheat and rye.

Sure!

1 1/2 c warm water
2 pkg yeast
1 t sugar

mix together and let sit about 10 minutes

4 T olive oil
1/2 t salt (I put more)
4 c flour (I usually need more)

Put 3 c flour in mixing bowl with salt. Add yeast mixture and stir. Add last cup of flour and knead. The dough shouldn't be sticky--if it is, add more flour. I have a dough hook on my mixer and I knead it about 5 minutes, maybe.

Put the dough into an oiled bowl. Cover with plastic and towel. Let rise 30 minutes.

Roll out and put onto an oiled pan. Or use your fingers and push it into the pan. Let rise 15 minutes. Add sauce and toppings.

Bake at 425 for about 15 minutes

I'm having a wonderful day...I just got flamed off the DIS California boards for agreeing with HOJO's cancellation polices regarding the ENT rate their hotel offers. Hope I'm still welcome here. Lynne that Pizza dough recipe sounds like a good one. Am going to copy it so that I can try it out when I get back from the mouse in a couple of weeks.

Of course you are welcome here. :goodvibes

As many of you here already know, especially if you have been a member for years, and read my posts, I am the type of person who likes to plan things out early, and that goes along with my kids birthday party. This year for my daughters party, we are going to have a Sweet Birthday Bash. So we will have a candy bar, decorate your own cupcakes, candy guessing game, pie/gummy worm find......

So the QOTDs are-

*If you were to go to a party like such, what types of candies or treats would you like to see in the candy jars/containers for the candy bar?

*What types of other games or things would you have the kids do? They are 8/9 year old girls, along with a teenager, and two boys, maybe three that are 5, 7, and 8.

Candy necklace
Candy Buttons
Necco wafers
Bit O Honey
Fun Dip
Smarties
Pixy Stick
Sweet Tarts
BB Bats (though the only place i have found these are online)
Tootsie Roll

Can't help with the games, i would just let them run around outside (of course this is only if the party is at your house).

Candy Necklaces
Jelly Beans
Jujubes
M&M's
Tootsie Rolls
Pixy Sticks
Sour Peaches
Gummy Bears

OK now I've got that silly GUMMY BEAR song stuck in my head!!

For games you could get some jelly beans like Jelly Belly and play guess the flavor. You could set out a game of Candyland even just as a centerpiece or something. If you have a Wii theres a candy factory game for it that is fun

For the candy bar I would say
M&Ms
Skittles
gummy worms
jelly bellies
Pixi Stix
Starbursts

Such a cute idea!!

M&M's
Skittles
Tootsie Rolls
Sour Patch
Laffy Taffy
Ring Pops
Jelly Beans
Pixie Sticks

Maybe play 4 Square, Hot Potato or make a craft of some sort. Maybe find a treasure using clues.
