Hi,

We have exchanged into BWV thru II. (July 2006)
First time exchange with Disney resort.
What are some of the perks that we can take advantage of staying at Boardwalk villas?

Not sure what we are eligible for since we are exchangers and not owner.

Thanks.

If your room ID has the "DVC Member" designation printed on it, you may be able to pool-hop, use the free valet service at DVC resorts and may be offered some dining discounts (be aware that some of these options may require a membership card in addition). In all likelyhood, you will not have the designation on your room ID and will not be able to get any of the member perks.

Regardless, the resort is wonderful and you'll have a great stay.

Enjoy! :)

So I won't know any of this info about extra perks until we check in?

What are some of the extras we should take advantage of just by staying at a disney resort?

Any suggestions? Restaurants, activities?

2 children traveling ages 11 & 12.

Thanks.

All onsite guests will have free parking at Theme Parks and you will be able to use WDW transportation (your $95 fee covers that). Extra- Magic hours are also available to all onsite guests.

As for dining options and information about resort activities and Theme Park hours and attractions, please feel free to ask on the DVC Planning Board, the Restaurants Board and the Theme Parks Board.

Have a great stay! :)

IMO, the best perk for staying on site is the use of Extra Magic Hours.....each day, at least one park opens earlier or stays open later for the exclusive use of on-site resort guests. Convenient travel to each of the parks is also a plus.

BWV is great for numerous reasons, and you don't need the "DVC" designation to get these:

1) Great proximity to both EPCOT and MGM -- can walk to each or take a relaxing, typically uncrowded, boat ride.

2) BW Community Hall -- Gamecube, a couple arcade games, ping pong, foosball, crafts, a few board games, etc., all completely free! The quiet pool is just outside. With kids at your kids' ages, you could easily lounge around the pool while they're inside getting their video game fix and the whole family is happy. Granted, not the way you'd want to spend your entire visit at WDW but great for a mid-day break. I think Community Hall is my DS 12's favorite 'feature' at BWV....it's just not a vacation for a 12 year old if there aren't video games included somewhere! :confused3

3) Very nice pool with slide

4) Entertainment around the Boardwalk in the evenings.....very nice to just sit back, relax, people watch, and then be entertained periodically by magicians, jugglers, etc. There are often opportunities for kids to get involved in these little shows which instantly increases their interest!

I think you'll love it! Have a great time!

Your confirmation should have the phone number to call and pay the extra $95 fee and place preferences. Don't forget the fee is due 48 hours ahead of your arrival. Since you are not a member and exchanging in, your card will not say member. You will get only the same perks you would have if you called Disney directly and paid cash. Use of the transportation, facilities of your resort (BW in this case) and free parking at the parks.

Didn't someone also post that people who exchange in, can also make use of the dining program for 38.00 per adult & 10.00 per child each day of the stay? That can be a very good deal depending on your objectives...

When you exchange into DVC thru II, you receive a slimmed down welcome packet that has the hotel newsletter and map. From what I remember, that's just about it. You are not treated as a DVC member and there is NO "DVC member" on the key card (I'm looking at our key card we used that trip). There is no "perks" sheet or anything relating to DVC discounts. If we hadn't already been owners, we wouldn't have realized how much was left out of the welcome packet.

That's true of II exchangers and any guest or renter of a member as well.

True, unless you are a DVC member and exchange in.
